Creativity Heals #art #depression

I just read a blog by a blogger who was really pressing down on herself for feeling that things are so bad. They are and they are not. It’s a matter of perspective.

BUT…

Something that helps so much is expression.

Blogging, art, writing are all forms of media that help us keep from that tipping point.

When I was very active on Social Media (sorry guys I am all over the world at the mo and so blogging is really a back door thing) I was meeting people coming out of Alcoholism, attempts at suicide, a divorce that drove the person batty…

there is that place to go to splash paint and get it off the head and heart.

And there is always prayer…

Reverse Thunder

I hear thunder in the distance

rolling onward like the waves

gaining power it surges  forward

and like a child I am afraid

flash and pounding ever stronger

seconds now and it will hit

dark the clouds and growing closer

blowing fragile tree to bits

it has stopped and hovers o’er me

a distinct voice of one I love

in the whispers it is calming

begging help from God above

*

Reverse Thunder

whispered prayers become a shout

God listens

Nothing can pull us away… #devotion

stream
 Oh the days are hard
the path is rocky
and my feet are weary
where can I go to find sleep?
Is there any protection
from the sky that is falling
trying to enter the reason
of my mind?
“Nothing can preserve you except…”
you hear this over and over
“just give in
give up…”
the silent tormentor
has gained a voice
in my head
and I am raw with fear
“Give In
We can help…”
But what are they offering?
More importantly what are they taking?
God’s love doesn’t evoke fear –
it’s result is peace
God’s love doesn’t evoke anger or hatred –
it causes us to love those who hate us
God’s love does not require us to destroy ourselves or others
IT is a trickling (healing) stream in the midst of the darkest night

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?…

Neither height nor depth, nor any other created things, will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”   ~Romans 8:35 and 39

Oasis #dailypost #poetry #health

water and light

Cancer

that awful scourge

people gasping

in pain

there it was

a stream

smallest trickle

of hope

for some it offered healing

an Oasis

peaceful breeze

flowed into our beings

we waited not for death

but life

This minimalistic poem is about a real place (a hospital called Oasis) where I daily saw death and moment by moment saw renewal of life and spirit.

This poem in response to the Dpchallenge – Oasis

I’m challenged to provide a juxtaposition in the text which I am not sure I have done, but I tried to create a symbiosis in the verse and art.

This wonderful Carpe Diem Haiku Kai prompt inspired by Kristjaan and Sogi (and the butterfly)

Inhale – Water

floating above  lily pad’s calm

Inhale –   Music

woodsy bamboo flute tones’ massage

Inhale – Sunshine

fingers warmed by golden rays

reawakened to a clear day

The prompt for Verse First today is:  “The work is not about the place”

“Writer’s often assume they must be in a particular place, using specific tools, with just the write atmosphere to write. I challenge that. Today, do not allow yourself to follow you own ritual and routine. Go to a place where you’ve never before written. Then write.” poets united
Thanks to Poet’s United for the challenge. This poem was written on the acupuncture table as I laid beneath needles.

The Heart of the Sea

Thunderous waves crashed

on a tender heart

her quiet plea

don’t tear me  apart”

*********

The spent wave

gently caressed her worn soul

healing  the pains

taking no more toll

*****

Embraced by calm winds

whispers  in her ear

it soothed and spoke

“yes you are so dear”

*****

Rocks were firm

like a strong arm

protecting against

threats of  distant harm

****

Smile in the sunrise

promises of  hope

precious moments by the  sea

kites, castles, and boats
