 shy once more

sweet are the years’  memories

what’s his name?

yesterday’s thoughts blow by

whose shoes are those?

Sharing this set with Ronovan Writes the theme this week being Shy and Sweet.

Alzheimers is a tough disease that robs the present. Walk on yesterday’s path with these folks and try to find the daisies still left to enjoy.

A Shadow of My Love

This poem is dedicated to a dear friend, Jean, who is suffering late stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.

“We don’t love you less though your memories of us are poor. You will always shine a light into our hearts.”

I awoke with a dream of you in my eyes

watching you took my breath away

I wanted you to be mine

***

I never grew tired of watching you

everyday to awake

the word “I love you” on my lips

knowing you were mine

***

I didn’t mind that your hair turned frosty gray

or that wrinkles lined your face

you were still mine

***

I visit you daily my dear

there’s  but a shadow of our love

I still cherish your smile vacant tho it may be

tho you don’t know it

you are still mine

Thank you Allegra Ricci for the poignant picture

Freedom (Guest post D. Holloway)

I held freedom
in my hand,
like a glowing orb
it shone,
in the middle
of nowhere
I stood alone.

Now what? I wondered
and the orb vanished
when I took a step
then reappeared
when I stepped back.

I was finally free
but hungry, cold,
forgotten and alone
and all that time
the orb brightly shone.

Please Don’t Forget Me I’m in Haiti

Still Missing

Right now in Haiti there is a “round the clock” effort to find those still alive and trapped in the rubble. The hours are ticking away. Searchers know that time is not their friend. Family members are frantically posting pictures and names of those still missing.

My sister, her husband and their two young kids… Please oh please help us find them so my mom and I can actually sleep at night,” just one of  an overwhelming list of missing posted on an on-line message board.  (CNN)

It is a seemingly hopeless business. For every victory, there is a setback. With every recovery, there are many still missing. Those still hidden under the rubble are screaming out in their spirits – Dont Forget Me! I’m Here!

Is Hope Missing?

No (break). No chance. We will have to deal with new needs, new sufferings, new situation of hunger, new despair, new devastation.”  states Rev. Duken Augustin in an e-mail.    (Huffington Post: Nicholas Sabloff)

The news is sobering. Where does one look  for a piece of hope?

The hope is in the faithful rescue workers. Please don’t give up! Reach in, grab, search. Hurry the clock is ticking!

Thank You to all those who are searching and who are not giving up on those who would otherwise be forgotten. Take heart.
