Meet Interdisciplinary Artist

Brenda Scott

Dr. Brenda Scott (née Neece), DPhil (Oxon.), is an interdisciplinary cellist, photographer, and organologist based in Durham, NC. She is the creator of the Cello Museum and Cello Guild, dedicated to exploring and sharing cello history.

Brenda’s photographic journey is distinguished by her deep engagement with historical narratives and visual storytelling. Her work has been featured in prestigious exhibitions, including the NC Museum of History and the North Carolina State Capitol. She has a keen interest in integrating historical research with contemporary photography, as seen in her current collaboration with cellist Jennifer Kloetzel on the Mission: Bach project.

With degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Cello Performance from Auburn University, Photography from the Academy of Art University, and a Doctorate in Musicology from the University of Oxford, Brenda brings both academic rigor and practical experience to her work.
