We’re excited to share updates on the development of our second children’s home, based in Banstead, London. This new home will be turned into a nurturing environment and will be ready to welcome up to five children aged 11-17 later this year. The home has been designed by the same architect who was behind our award-winning first home.

Follow our journey as we transform our second property into a warm, welcoming home.

Why are more homes needed?

Some children in residential care are placed far from where they grew up because there simply aren’t enough suitable children’s homes in their local area. This challenge is particularly felt in London, where there are more children from the city needing residential placements than there are homes available, largely due to high property costs.

Children from London are placed an average of 54 miles from their home, the highest average distance of any region in the country. Being so far away makes it harder for children to maintain the vital connections and relationships that matter most to them.

We are committed to changing this. We create state-of-the-art children’s homes in areas where they are needed most. By opening homes in London and the South East, we’re helping children stay close to their families, schools and wider networks, giving them the stability and connection they need to thrive.

Therapeutic design

We believe that a children’s home should feel just like that, a home. That’s why we think carefully about every detail, from paint colours to furniture and fittings. Our approach to home design is shaped by social pedagogy. It is based on the understanding that high-quality care, learning and positive relationships thrive in environments where children feel safe and nurtured.

While some children’s homes can feel institutional, our homes are deliberately designed to be warm and homely. The shared spaces in our homes are created to feel inviting rather than formal, encouraging connection and a sense of belonging the moment a child walks through the door. We also know how important it is for children to have a space that’s just theirs. Each child has a cosy ensuite bedroom, with plenty of room to decorate, personalise and make their own.
