Lighthouse Pedagogy Trust is a charity that enables children in care to have the same opportunities as everyone else. We create children’s homes where children can thrive and where education is central to our holistic approach. We invest in great people who are able to build authentic relationships in thoughtfully designed physical spaces. Our entire approach is informed by social pedagogy - a relationship-based way of working with children. We use our learning to train people and influence decision-makers so standards of care improve nationally. We have changed our name from Lighthouse to Lighthouse Pedagogy Trust – our logo and name has changed but our work and mission remains the same.

After a great deal of thoughtful planning and design, we are pleased to announce that building work has begun on our second children’s home! Once again, we’re working with Conrad Koslowsky, the architect behind our award‑winning first home. Shaped by the same thoughtfulness and ambition, this project will see a full renovation to create a nurturing place for up to five children, where relationships, stability and care can support healing and growth. Good luck to the 28 participants starting the brand-new Graduate Diploma in Residential Childcare at Kingston University this month! This first-of-its-kind Level 6 course has been created to give participants the skills to put social pedagogy into practice, reflect on their own approaches, and connect with others who share a commitment to improving children’s experiences in residential care. At the course launch event, Chief Social Worker, Isabelle Trowler CBE shared her excitement for what this new qualification could mean for the future of residential care: “One key shift we want to see across the practice system is much more skilled and knowledgeable direct work with families, underpinned by evidence and practice-based methodology.
