    2. What is Satan called in the Scriptures?

"The accuser of our brethren . . . which accused them before our God day and night." Rev. 12:10.

NOTE.- Then when we judge, accuse, and condemn one another, we are doing the work of Satan.

    3. If we bite and devour one another, what may we expect?

"But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another." Gal. 5:15.

    4. Before attempting to judge, criticize, or correct others, what should we first do?

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye: and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." Matt. 7:3-5.

    5. What did Christ say He did not come to do?

"If any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world." "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." John 12:47; 3:17.

    6. What question does Paul ask concerning judging?

"Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth." Rom. 14:4.

    7. To whom are all to give account?

"So then everyone of us shall give account of himself to God." Verse 12.

    9. Instead of railing on His enemies, what did Christ do?

"Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously." 1 Peter 2:23.

    10. Wherein do man's judging and God's judging differ?

"For the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." 1 Sam. 16:7. "Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God." Luke 16:15.

    11. How does Christ tell us to judge?

"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." John 7:24.

    12. How, by whom, and in what spirit should those having committed faults be dealt with?

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." Gal. 6:1.

    13. Of what are those generally guilty who judge others?

"Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things." Rom. 2:1.

    14. Whom are we not likely to judge and condemn?

"For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged." 1 Cor. 11:31.

    15. What instruction does James give regarding judging?

"Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge." James 4:11. See Titus 3:2.

    16. Why is it safer not to judge and condemn others?

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned." Luke 6:37. "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." Matt. 7:2. See Ps. 18:25,26.

    17. To what time are we exhorted to defer judgment?

"Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the heart." 1 Cor. 4:5.

"JUDGE NOT;" the workings of his brain

And of his heart thou canst not see.

What looks to thy dim eyes a stain,

In God's pure sight may only be

A scar, brought from some well-won field

Where thou wouldst only faint and yield.

The look, the air, that frets thy sight,

May be a token that, below,

The soul has closed in deadly fight

    With some infernal, fiery foe

Whose glance would scorch thy smiling grace,

And cast thee shuddering on thy face.

The fall thou darest to despise-

    Perhaps the angel's slackened hand

Has suffered it, that he may rise

    And take a firmer, surer stand;

Or, trusting less to earthly things,

May henceforth learn to use his wings.

And judge none lost, but wait and see,

    With hopeful pity, not disdain;

The depth of that abyss may be

The measure of the height of pain,

And love, and glory, that may raise

The soul to God in after-days.

Hello friends, family, and my brothers, and sisters in Christ.

    This is Brother Johnny Gass.

    Welcome to Bible study.

Study to show thyself to approved unto God, a Workman unashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

Please share these lessons with everyone you know for the expansion of the kingdom of God.

A Jar of Oil and the Most Powerful Spirit in the World.

Elisha could see that the young widow was desperate. She threw herself at the old prophet's feet and sobbed, "The creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves!" The woman's husband had died unexpectedly and left her with a huge debt. In Bible times, a lender had a right to repossess property and even take children as payment if a family could not pay the bills (Job 24:9). "What do you have in the house?" Elisha asked the distraught mother. "I have nothing in the house but a jar of oil," she replied. Little by little she had handed over all the furniture and valuables in her home to the cruel creditor until nothing remained but her two boys and this little jar of oil. Olive oil was considered a most basic essential. It was used for lighting, heating, cooking, and healing. Elisha told the widow and her boys to go and borrow as many empty vessels as possible from their neighbors. They should bring them home, shut the door, and then pour the oil from her little jar into the empty containers. They did as Elisha instructed, and a wonderful miracle occurred. The oil in the little jar continued to flow out until all the vessels in the house were filled! "What shall we do now?" the young mother asked the prophet. "Sell the oil, pay your debt, and then you and your sons can live on the surplus," he said. This woman and her boys left Elisha's presence rejoicing and free because of the miracle of the oil. The Lord wants to free you from a ruthless creditor named Satan. This miracle will happen when He fills your cup to overflowing with His special oil!

    1. In the Bible, what is symbolized by a vessel and oil?

Acts 9:15. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen _____________ unto me.

1 Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the spirit of the Lord came upon David.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The Bible teaches that God is the potter and we are the clay vessels (Jeremiah 18:1-6; Romans 9:20, 21). Everyone is created with a purpose. Oil is used throughout the Bible as a symbol of God's Spirit. Pure olive oil was used to keep the lamp burning bright in the Hebrew temple as an illustration of how His Holy Spirit illuminates our minds. It is God's desire to fill all of His people with His Spirit (Joel 2:28).

    2. Is the Holy Spirit an impersonal force, or is He God?

Acts 5:3, 4. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy ______? ... thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The apostle Peter declared that lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God. Furthermore, Jesus told us to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19, 20), thus indicating that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, placed in full equality with the Father and the Son.

The Bible also states that we can grieve the Spirit, which means that He has emotions. He is not simply an impersonal force. In Scripture the Holy Spirit is referred to as Comforter, Holy Ghost, Holy Spirit, Spirit of truth, Spirit of the Lord, the seven Spirits of God, and simply the Spirit. All of these titles denote personality

    3. What is the primary work of the Holy Spirit?

John 16:13. When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will _____ you into all truth ... and he will shew you things to come.

John 14:26 He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Jesus promised to be with us always, and it is through the person of the Holy Spirit that He is with us and in us (John 14:17).

    4. What is the one sin that cannot be forgiven?

Matthew 12:32. But whosoever speaketh _______ the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is not a single offence, but a progressive resistance to truth that results in a final rejection of God's will (Hebrews 10:26, 27). The conscience is seared when a person repeatedly opposes and neglects the impressions of the Holy Spirit until he no longer hears His voice. Therefore, a person who has a haunting fear that he has committed the "unpardonable sin" very likely has not.

    5. What are some of the gifts of the Spirit a person might receive?

1 Corinthians 12:8-10. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of _______; to another the word of knowledge ...; To another faith ...; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: When the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, He brings different gifts. Not everyone receives the same gifts (1 Corinthians 12:29-31). Scripture often emphasizes the importance of being filled with the Spirit. Jesus taught in John 3:5 that "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." Sadly, the Holy Spirit and His work is often misunderstood. Some people are taught that the Holy Spirit is an impersonal force; others deny His influence in people's daily affairs; and still others are taught that everyone who is filled with the Holy Spirit must speak in tongues.

    6. Which spiritual gift became a subject of controversy in the Corinthian church?

1 Corinthians 14:1, 2. Desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. For he that speaketh in an unknown _______ speaketh not unto men, but unto God.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: As in the days of the early Christian church, the gift of tongues has again become a subject of confusion and controversy. Therefore we have dedicated a large portion of this lesson to explaining what the Bible teaches about this spiritual gift.

    7. How did Jesus promise to help His disciples preach the gospel to all the world?

Mark 16:17. They shall speak with new ________.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: In the Bible, the word "tongue" simply means "language." Jesus' disciples were bright men, but most were uneducated. In order to help them take the gospel to the world, Jesus promised to give them a supernatural gift to speak foreign languages they had not formerly studied or known.

    8. What happened when the disciples received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit?

Acts 2:1, 4. And when the day of ___________ was fully come, ... they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Pentecost was a Jewish holy day that was celebrated 50 days after Passover. Devoted Jews from all over the world came to Jerusalem to worship. Through His Spirit, God gave the gift of tongues at this time to empower the disciples to share the gospel with these people in their native languages. Those who believed then carried the good news back to their respective countries.

    9. What did these foreign Jews experience when the Holy Spirit was poured out?

Acts 2:11. We do _____ them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: It is sometimes suggested that the gift of tongues is a "heavenly language" understood only by God or by those with the gift of interpretation. The Bible clearly shows that both the disciples and those listening understood what was being preached--"the wonderful works of God." There are only three examples of speaking in tongues given in Scripture. We have looked at the first; now let's examine the last two for a clearer picture of this gift.

    10. What happened when Peter preached to Cornelius and his household?

Acts 10:44, 46. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. ... For they heard them speak with tongues, and ________ God.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Cornelius was of the Italian band (Acts 10:1), while Peter was a Jew and spoke Aramaic. History also tells us that the servants in a Roman home could be from anywhere in the world. Consequently, there were language barriers at this meeting. However, when the Holy Ghost fell on Cornelius and the members of his household, the men who accompanied Peter could understand them speaking in languages other than their native tongues. They heard them "magnify God" in these languages. When later reporting this experience to church leaders in Jerusalem, Peter said, "The Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning." Acts 11:15, emphasis added. Cornelius and his household received the same gift of tongues as did the disciples on the day of Pentecost. They spoke languages that could be understood.

    11. What happened when Paul preached to 12 Ephesian disciples?

Acts 19:6. The Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and _____________.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Paul, who was the most educated and widely traveled of the apostles, spoke many languages (1 Corinthians 14:18). When the Holy Spirit came upon these 12 men of Ephesus, Paul and Luke could understand them prophesying in languages they had not previously known.

    12. What does the Bible say about speaking in a tongue that is not understood?

1 Corinthians 14:9. Except ye utter by the tongue words _______ to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken?

1 Corinthians 14:19 I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Paul repeatedly explains that the purpose for a tongue (language) is to communicate or to teach truth. A Greek word for "unknown" is not found in any original Bible manuscripts, but was supplied by translators to indicate that the language was foreign to the majority present. The church at Corinth was a melting pot of many different nationalities, and sometimes the services became confusing when members would pray, testify, or preach in languages unknown to the others present.

This is why Paul commanded them to keep silent, if speaking in a tongue unknown to the majority, unless someone was there to interpret (1 Corinthians 14:28). The lesson for us is that we should not speak or pray in a tongue that others present cannot understand.

    13. What was one of the main characteristics of ancient Babylon?

Genesis 11:7, 9. Let us go down, and there _______ their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. ... Therefore is the name of it called Babel.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The tower of Babel is the place where the languages of the world were first confounded. The Hebrew word for both Babel and Babylon is "babel," meaning "confusion." In Revelation 18, God calls His people out of spiritual Babylon. One of the characteristics of spiritual Babylon is a confusion of tongues.

    14. Does the Spirit fill those who deliberately break God's commandments?

John 14:15-17. If ye love me, keep my _____________. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, ... Even the Spirit of truth.

Acts 5:32 The Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: The tremendous power of the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in those who refuse to obey God's commandments.

    15. Paul emphasized that we should desire which spiritual gift?

1 Corinthians 14:4, 5. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that __________ edifieth the church. ... Greater is he that ___________ than he that speaketh with tongues.

1 Corinthians 14:12 Forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: In spite of the fact that Paul attached greater importance to the gift of prophecy than to the gift of tongues, some are now teaching that every person who is filled with the Holy Spirit will speak in tongues.

Out of more than 25 Bible examples of God filling His people with the Spirit, only three times is the gift of tongues connected with it. Of the 14 New Testament books written by the apostle Paul, he mentions tongues in only one--1 Corinthians. Of the 27 books in the New Testament, only three make any reference at all to speaking in tongues.

    16. What is the main reason why God fills people with His Spirit?

Acts 1:8. But ye shall receive __________, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me.

Acts 4:31 They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: God fills us with His Spirit to give us power for witnessing!

    17. Is it possible to tell whether or not a person has been filled with the Holy Spirit?

Matthew 7:20. Wherefore by their ______ ye shall know them.

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: We determine that a person has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit not by the gifts of the Spirit, but by the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22, 23).

    18. How can I receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

Luke 11:13. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ___ him?

    Answer : ____________________

NOTE: Just as Jesus had the Spirit without measure, we may ask God to fill our vessels to overflowing, but we must first be willing to empty ourselves by surrendering our hearts.

    19. Jesus is waiting and yearning to pour the precious oil of the Holy Spirit into your life. Would you like to ask Him now to take possession of your mind and heart?

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of _______; to another the word of knowledge ...; To another faith ...; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: When the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, He brings different gifts. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: As in the days of the early Christian church, the gift of tongues has again become a subject of confusion and controversy. Therefore we have dedicated a large portion of this lesson to explaining what the Bible teaches about this spiritual gift. 7. How did Jesus promise to help His disciples preach the gospel to all the world? Mark 16:17. They shall speak with new ________. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: In the Bible, the word "tongue" simply means "language." Jesus' disciples were bright men, but most were uneducated. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: Pentecost was a Jewish holy day that was celebrated 50 days after Passover. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: It is sometimes suggested that the gift of tongues is a "heavenly language" understood only by God or by those with the gift of interpretation. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: Cornelius was of the Italian band (Acts 10:1), while Peter was a Jew and spoke Aramaic. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: Paul, who was the most educated and widely traveled of the apostles, spoke many languages (1 Corinthians 14:18). Answer : ____________________ NOTE: Paul repeatedly explains that the purpose for a tongue (language) is to communicate or to teach truth. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: The tower of Babel is the place where the languages of the world were first confounded. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: The tremendous power of the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in those who refuse to obey God's commandments. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: In spite of the fact that Paul attached greater importance to the gift of prophecy than to the gift of tongues, some are now teaching that every person who is filled with the Holy Spirit will speak in tongues. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: God fills us with His Spirit to give us power for witnessing! 17. Is it possible to tell whether or not a person has been filled with the Holy Spirit? Matthew 7:20. Wherefore by their ______ ye shall know them. Answer : ____________________ NOTE: We determine that a person has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit not by the gifts of the Spirit, but by the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22, 23). 18. How can I receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Luke 11:13. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ___ him? Answer : ____________________ NOTE: Just as Jesus had the Spirit without measure, we may ask God to fill our vessels to overflowing, but we must first be willing to empty ourselves by surrendering our hearts. 19. Jesus is waiting and yearning to pour the precious oil of the Holy Spirit into your life. Would you like to ask Him now to take possession of your mind and heart? Romans 7:13-18 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.
For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.
For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
If, then I do,what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.
But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.
    Philippians 2:12-18 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but know much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Do all things without complaining and disputing,
that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
For this same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Lamentations 3:37-45 Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded it?
Is it not from the mouth of the Most High That woe and well-being proceed?
Why should a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
    Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the LORD;
Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven.
We have transgressed and rebelled; You have not pardoned.
You have covered Yourself with anger And pursued us; You have slain and not pitied.
You have covered Yourself with a cloud, That prayer should not pass through
You have made us an offering and refuse In the midst of the peoples.
Lamentations 3:55-57 I called on Your name, O LORD, From the lowest pit.
You have heard my voice; "Do not hide Your ear From my sighing, from my cry for help."
You drew near on the day I called on You, And said, "Do not fear!"
Matthew 5:37 “But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’, and your ‘No,’ ‘No’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
James 5:12-16 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No.” lest you fall into judgement.
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 4:5-10 Or do you think that the Scriptures says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says; "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."
Therefore submit to God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
1 John 1:5-10 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Luke 6:27-31 "But I say to you who hear; Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
"bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
"To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either.
"Give to everyone who asks of you. and from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.
"And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
Matthew 5:21-26 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgement.'
"But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.
"Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,
"leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
"Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison,
"Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.
1 Corinthians 10:6-12 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
And do not become idolaters as were some of them. as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
    Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;
    nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
Colossians 3:12-17 Therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering,
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Galatians 6:1-5 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
For each one shall bear his own load.
Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

1 Peter 1:1-12 PETER, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
elect according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
Receiving the end of your faith–the salvation of your souls.
Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy spirit sent from heaven–things which angels desire to look into.
Mark 11:25-26 “And wherever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.
“But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Ephesians 4:1-10 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,
with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
    There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
    one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, in you all.
But to each one of us was given according to the measure of Christ's gift.
Therefore He says; "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men,"
(Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?
He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
1 Peter 4:7-11 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins."
Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God,
If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1 Corinthians 7:10-16 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord; A wife is not to depart from her husband.
But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. and a husband is not to divorce his wife.
But to the rest, I, not the Lord, say; if any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her.
And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace.
For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?
Ephesians 5:15-21 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another in the fear of god.

Step Eleven Colossians 3:12-17 Therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 1 Peter 1:1-12 PETER, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ; Grace to you and peace be multiplied. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, Receiving the end of your faith–the salvation of your souls. Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. “But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Ephesians 4:1-10 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, in you all. But to each one of us was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore He says; "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men," (Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) 1 Peter 4:7-11 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God, If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. • Wisdom for My Conversation.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. James 3:13

How many sins this consistent conduct would prevent! How many souls it would turn from crooked paths into paths of righteousness. By a well-ordered life and godly conversation God’s people are to demonstrate the power of the great truths which He has given them....

A contrast is drawn between those who think themselves to be wise and those whom God has gifted with wisdom because they will not use their powers to hurt or destroy. A man may speak fair words, but unless his life reveals good works, his wisdom is human. Genuine wisdom is full of gentleness, mercy, and love. The worldly policy which men call wisdom is by God called foolishness. Many in the church have become spiritual bankrupts because they have been satisfied with this wisdom. They have lost the opportunity to obtain knowledge and to use knowledge aright, because they have not realized that the efficiency of Christ is essential to make a successful merchant for God, one who can trade wisely on his entrusted goods. They have failed to supply themselves with heavenly merchandise, and the value of their stock in trade has continually decreased.

It is not enough to have knowledge. We must have the ability to use knowledge aright. God calls upon us to show a good conversation, free from all roughness and vanity. Speak no words of vanity, no words of harsh command; for they will gender strife. Speak instead words that will give light, knowledge, information, words that will restore and build up. A man shows that he has true wisdom by using the talent of speech to produce music in the souls of those who are trying to do their appointed work and who are in need of encouragement.

When the heart is pure, rich treasures of wisdom will flow forth. Telma Deus

  • Good evening, brethren.

    1. Evening devotion for today.

    i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    MONDAY 13TH APRIL, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
    THE CROSS: CULMINATION OF GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    BRINGS REDEMPTION.

    *TEXT:*
    GALATIANS 3:10-14.
    10. For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”
    11. Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”
    12. The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.”
    13. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”
    14. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

    *TOPIC:*
    BRINGS REDEMPTION.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
To redeem is to liberate by payment of a ransom. Today's text contrasts the curse of the law with the blessing of faith in Christ. Relying on the law, which is based on performance, brings a curse because no one can perfectly obey it (Deut. 27:26). In contrast, justification comes through faith, as seen in the life of Abraham. Christ has redeemed believers from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for and bearing their punishment. Through His sacrificial death, the blessing promised to Abraham comes to the Gentiles so that all may receive the promised Spirit through faith. Therefore, Christ's redemptive work is sufficient in securing your righteousness before God.
    Have you been redeemed?
If not, invite Jesus into your life today and begin to live worthy of your new identity.

    *REFLECTION:*
    Jesus alone redeems.

    *PRAYER:*
Thank You, Jesus, for paying the price for my redemption. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    COLOSSIANS 2:15.
"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
    2 KINGS 20-22.

    A Peculiar Nobility

Have you faced death to self – the crucifixion of your soul? Only if you have, will you see life and living in its true perspective. Only then will a peculiar nobility, with its roots in humidity be displayed in you.. as a stately strand of godly meekness, ribbons through into your entire character. Death to self often comes through suffering and there are two outcomes of suffering.

    Two Results

A man’s heart and soul may be perfected through suffering – or suffering may make that same man’s soul bitter and rebellious. For through suffering we come to an end of self – to the extremity of me – or, through that same suffering selfishness may increase as “I” takes control – and God, not the old sin nature is blamed for the problems and pain that engulf us.

    Moral Calibre

We must eventually become disappointed and disillusioned with all self-effort, if we are to not to become disappointed and disillusioned in God – but one of the other will happen. The moral calibre of man is displayed in his everyday conduct and activity. In simple, commonplace tasks and in social gatherings and activities.

    Spiritual Temperature

A man’s character is displayed in his words and in his attitudes. A man’s spiritual temperature is not displayed in public prayers or preaching, but at the supermarket checkout, the restaurant table, behind a steering wheel! – at the end of a telephone.

    Christian Living

A man’s profound, solitary spiritual life is between himself and God alone, but life’s superficial activities may replace a Christ-centered life with a self-centred one, Am I willing to permit God to dominate both my profound and shallow activity? Am I prepared to allow Him to influence both spiritual and superficial things?

    Spiritual Life

It was once written… No one ever becomes spiritual without being fanatical for a season. The shallow intercourse of our lives falls away and people object to us, because if we are right then they are wrong. It is the swing of the pendulum to the opposite extreme of what the life used to be” This is a pretty tough truth to swallow, but something we should all think about.

    Be Ready

“My “right hand” may be the thing that makes me delightful to other people.. and yet Jesus said “If your right hand causes you to stumble in your walk with me then cut it off!” The maimed stage is only for a season – but remember- we are in the season of the Lord’s return. And remember that Jesus is coming at a time you think not, “Therefore be ye also ready.. for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh”

    Be Vigilant

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour 1Peter 5:8 Satan hath desired to have YOU, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for you… Luke 22:31

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    i. Evening Prayer

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. ⏤ Psalm 4:8

Our prayers lay the track down on which God’s power can come. ⏤ Watchman Nee

As this day comes to a close, we come to You, our Father. Thank You for guiding us today in response to our morning prayer. Please accept whatever we’ve done to please You. Forgive us for anything wrong in our actions, attitudes, or feelings. If we’ve held onto unkind thoughts, been envious, selfish, resentful, or jealous—please forgive us and cleanse our hearts.

We sincerely want to grow beyond these faults of our old nature. We’re not content to live with these things ruling our lives. But You know how hard it is for us to overcome these struggles in our hearts. May Your grace within us help to overcome them. We earnestly pray that You will fill us with Your Holy Spirit, and help us to let go of the things that displease You, and embrace the qualities of a new life filled with the gentle affections of our Savior. May the fruits of the Spirit grow in us. May whatever is pure and lovely be found in us.

We now leave in Your care all the work of this day. If we’ve left any negative impact on someone’s life, we ask that You prevent it from causing harm. Take whatever has been good and helpful in us today and use it to bless others and to bring glory to Your great name.

As we go to rest, we commit ourselves to Your care for the night. You are our protector. We rest securely under the shadow of Your wings because You will keep us safe. We pray for the poor, the sick, the troubled, the sorrowful, and the dying. We ask all these things in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Amen.

Good evening, brethren. 1. Evening devotion for today. i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST* (COCIN DEVOTIONAL) *DATE:* MONDAY 13TH APRIL, 2026. *SUB-THEME:* THE CROSS: CULMINATION OF GRACE. *TOPIC:* BRINGS REDEMPTION. *TEXT:* GALATIANS 3:10-14. 10. For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11. Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” 12. The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” 13. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. *TOPIC:* BRINGS REDEMPTION. *THE MESSAGE:* To redeem is to liberate by payment of a ransom. *REFLECTION:* Jesus alone redeems. *PRAYER:* Thank You, Jesus, for paying the price for my redemption. Amen. *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:* COLOSSIANS 2:15. "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:* 2 KINGS 20-22. ii. Only if you have, will you see life and living in its true perspective. Only then will a peculiar nobility, with its roots in humidity be displayed in you.. as a stately strand of godly meekness, ribbons through into your entire character. Death to self often comes through suffering and there are two outcomes of suffering. Two Results A man’s heart and soul may be perfected through suffering – or suffering may make that same man’s soul bitter and rebellious. For through suffering we come to an end of self – to the extremity of me – or, through that same suffering selfishness may increase as “I” takes control – and God, not the old sin nature is blamed for the problems and pain that engulf us. Moral Calibre We must eventually become disappointed and disillusioned with all self-effort, if we are to not to become disappointed and disillusioned in God – but one of the other will happen. The moral calibre of man is displayed in his everyday conduct and activity. In simple, commonplace tasks and in social gatherings and activities. Spiritual Temperature A man’s character is displayed in his words and in his attitudes. A man’s spiritual temperature is not displayed in public prayers or preaching, but at the supermarket checkout, the restaurant table, behind a steering wheel! – at the end of a telephone. Christian Living A man’s profound, solitary spiritual life is between himself and God alone, but life’s superficial activities may replace a Christ-centered life with a self-centred one, Am I willing to permit God to dominate both my profound and shallow activity? Am I prepared to allow Him to influence both spiritual and superficial things? Spiritual Life It was once written… No one ever becomes spiritual without being fanatical for a season. The shallow intercourse of our lives falls away and people object to us, because if we are right then they are wrong. It is the swing of the pendulum to the opposite extreme of what the life used to be” This is a pretty tough truth to swallow, but something we should all think about. Be Ready “My “right hand” may be the thing that makes me delightful to other people.. and yet Jesus said “If your right hand causes you to stumble in your walk with me then cut it off!” The maimed stage is only for a season – but remember- we are in the season of the Lord’s return. And remember that Jesus is coming at a time you think not, “Therefore be ye also ready.. for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” Be Vigilant Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour 1Peter 5:8 Satan hath desired to have YOU, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for you… Luke 22:31 Post navigation Previous Post Previous False Illusions Proudly powered by WordPress. 2.
