They help elderly people, visitors, children, or anyone needing assistance.

    - Handling Emergencies
If someone becomes sick or there is any issue, Ushers assist quickly and inform Church Leaders.

    - Distributing Materials
They may give out Hymn Books, Service Bulletins, or announcements.

    Spiritual Role
Although Ushers help with practical duties, their ministry is also spiritual. They serve God by serving His people and helping worship happen in peace and order (First Epistle to the Corinthians 14:40 – “Let all things be done decently and in order.”).

    Section 14- Christian Service.

CHAPTER 159, Support of the Ministry.

    1. What is one way in which we are commanded to honor God?

"Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase." Prov. 3:9.

    2. What part of one's income has the Lord especially claimed as His?

"And all the tithe [tenth] of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord." Lev. 27:30.

    3. For whose support and for what work was the tithe devoted in Israel?

"Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation." Num. 18:21.

    4. In what language does Paul approve of the same method of support for the gospel ministry?

"If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things? . . . Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things 1ive of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel." 1 Cor. 9:11-14.

    5. Upon what fundamental basis does the requirement of tithe-paying rest?

"The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein." Ps. 24:1.

    6. Who owns all the gold and silver in the world?

"The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, saith the Lord of hosts." Haggai 2:8.

    7. Who owns all the cattle and fowls of the earth?

"For every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are Mine." Ps. 50:10,11.

    8. Who gives man power to get wealth?

"But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth." Deut. 8:18.

    9. What statement of Christ shows that man is not an original owner, but a steward of God's goods?

"For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into afar country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods." Matt. 25:14. See 1 Cor. 4:7.

    10. How early in the history of the world do we read of tithe-paying?

"For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all." Heb. 7:1,2. See Gen. 14:17-20.

    11. What vow did Jacob make at Bethel?

"And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: . . . and of all that Thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto Thee." Gen. 28:20-22.

NOTE.-It is thus evident that the duty of paying tithes was recognized by the patriarchs as a religious obligation.

    12. After what order was Christ made a high priest?

"Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest forever after the order of Melchisedec." Heb. 6:20.

NOTE.-As Christ's priesthood succeeded the Aaronic or Levitical priesthood, which was supported by the tithes of Israel; and as Christ was made a priest after the order of Melchisedec, who received tithes of the patriarchs before the Levitical priesthood was ordained, it is but logical and natural to conclude that the ministry under Christ's priest- hood should be supported by the same means as were both of these priest-hoods,- the tithes of God's people.

    13. Did Christ Himself approve of tithe-paying?

"Ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone." Matt. 23:23.

    14. Of what is one guilty who withholds the tithe and free-will offerings?

"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed Me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed Thee? In tithes and offerings." Mal. 3:8.

    15. Concerning what does the Lord ask us to prove Him, and upon what conditions does He promise great blessings?

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house, and prove Me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts." Verses 10,11.MY GRACIOUS Lord, I own Thy right

To every service I can pay,

And call it my supreme delight

To hear Thy dictates, and obey.

What is my being, but for Thee,-

Its sure support, its noblest end? '

Tis my delight Thy face to see,

And serve the cause of such a Friend.

I would not sigh for worldly joy,

    Or to increase my worldly good;

Nor future days or powers employ

To spread a sounding name abroad.

'Tis to my Saviour I would live-

    To Him who for my ransom died;

Nor could all worldly honor give

Such bliss as crowns me at His side.

    Today’s God’s Word

Topic: How dangerous it is to oppose God’s servant…

“For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the Lord: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?”
    — Numbers 16:11

    Dear people of God,
Let us examine our hearts for a moment.

Have we ever, in words or in our hearts, opposed the servant whom God has appointed?
Korah and his group also began in the same way… a small dissatisfaction, a small criticism… but in the end, it turned into rebellion against God.

    What did God do?
The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them… their pride and their rebellion were destroyed in a moment.

Even today, the same spirit is at work…
Are we blaming God’s servant saying, “You are living because of our offerings and our tithes”?
Are we leaving the servant who is shedding tears for you, fasting, and praying day and night?
This is not just opposing a man…
    It is dishonoring God’s appointment.

When God’s servant is fighting for you…
If you speak against him, it reaches the ears of God.

    Today God is telling us:
    Be humble
    Honor the servant
Let go of the spirit of rebellion

If anyone among us has a rebellious heart or has made this mistake… let us change even now. Let us meet the servant, repent in God’s presence, ask for forgiveness, and stand again in His grace.
    ✦✦✦ Prayer ✦✦✦
    Lord…
Give us a heart that honors Your servants.
Deliver us from the spirit of rebellion.
Grant us the grace to walk humbly in Your will.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

  • SABBATH TRUTH # 7
    Sabbath History

    Sabbath Through the Centuries

    1st Century

"But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day." Jesus, Matthew 24:20

    Institution Of The Sabbath

"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Genesis 2:1-3

    Jesus

"And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read." Luke 4:16

"And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matthew 19:16-17

"But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day." Matthew 24:20.

Jesus asked his disciples to pray that in the flight from the doomed city of Jerusalem they would not have to flee on the Sabbath day. This flight took place in 70 A.D. (40 years after the Cross).

    His Followers

"And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment." Luke 23:56

    Paul

"And Paul, as his manner was went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures" Acts 17:2

    Paul And Gentiles

"And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. And the next Sabbath came almost the whole city together to hear the Word of God." Acts 13:42, 44.

Here we find Gentiles in a Gentile city gathering on the Sabbath. It was not a synagogue meeting in verse 44, for it says almost the whole city came together, verse 42 says they asked to hear the message the "next Sabbath."

    John

"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." Rev. 1:10 (Mark 2:28, Isa.58:13, Ex.20:10, Clearly show the Sabbath to be the Lord's day).

    Josephus

"There is not any city of the Grecians, nor any of the Barbarians, nor any nation whatsoever, whither our custom of resting on the seventh day hath not come!" M'Clatchie, "Notes and Queries on China and Japan" (edited by Dennys), Vol 4, Nos 7, 8, p.100.

    Philo

Declares the seventh day to be a festival, not of this or of that city, but of the universe. M'Clatchie, "Notes and Queries," Vol. 4, 99

    2nd Century

"It is certain that the ancient Sabbath did remain and was observed (together with the celebration of the Lord's day) by the Christians of the East Church, above three hundred years after our Saviour's death." - A Learned Treatise of the Sabbath, p. 77

    Early Christians

"The primitive Christians had a great veneration for the Sabbath, and spent the day in devotion and sermons. And it is not to be doubted but they derived this practice from the Apostles themselves, as appears by several scriptures to the purpose." "Dialogues on the Lord's Day," p. 189. London: 1701, By Dr. T.H. Morer (A Church of England divine).

"Geschichte des Sonntags," pp.13, 14 "The primitive Christians did keep the Sabbath of the Jews ;...therefore the Christians, for a long time together, did keep their conventions upon the Sabbath, in which some portions of the law were read: and this continued till the time of the Laodicean council." Early Church

"It is certain that the ancient Sabbath did remain and was observed (together with the celebration of the Lord's day) by the Christians of the East Church, above three hundred years after our Saviour's death." "A Learned Treatise of the Sabbath," p. 77

Note: By the "Lord's day" here the writer means Sunday and not the true Sabbath," which the Bible says is the Sabbath. This quotation shows Sunday coming into use in the early centuries soon after the death of the Apostles. Paul the Apostle foretold a great "falling away" from the Truth that would take place soon after his death.

    Italy AND EAST-C 4th

"It was the practice generally of the Easterne Churches; and some churches of the west...For in the Church of Millaine (Milan);...it seems the Saturday was held in a farre esteeme... Not that the Easterne Churches, or any of the rest which observed that day, were inclined to Iudaisme (Judaism); but that they came together on the Sabbath day, to worship Iesus (Jesus) Christ the Lord of the Sabbath." Orient And Most Of World

"The ancient Christians were very careful in the observance of Saturday, or the seventh day...It is plain that all the Oriental churches, and the greatest part of the world, observed the Sabbath as a festival...Athanasius likewise tells us that they held religious assembles on the Sabbath, not because they were infected with Judaism, but to worship Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, Epiphanius says the same." Spain - Council Elvira (A.D.305)

Canon 26 of the Council of Elvira reveals that the Church of Spainat that time kept Saturday, the seventh day. "As to fasting every Sabbath: Resolved, that the error be corrected of fasting every Sabbath." This resolution of the council is in direct opposition to the policy the church at Rome had inaugurated, that of commanding Sabbath as a fast day in order to humiliate it and make it repugnant to the people.

"For although almost all churches throughout The World celebrated the sacred mysteries (the Lord's Supper) on the Sabbath of every week, yet the Christians of Allexandria and at Rome, on account of some ancient tradition, refuse to do this." The footnote which accompanies the foregoing quotation explains the use of the word "Sabbath." It says: "That is, upon the Saturday. writers try to evade the apostolic origin of the Waldenses, so as to make it appear that the Roman is the only apostolic church, and that all others are later novelties. And for this reason they try to make out that the Waldenses originated with Peter Waldo of the twelfth century. Dr. Peter Allix says: "Some Protestants, on this occasion, have fallen into the snare that was set for them...It is absolutely false, that these churches were ever found by Peter Waldo...it is a pure forgery." 'Let us venerate the Lord's day,' said she, 'because of the resurrection of our Lord, which happened upon that day, and let us no longer do servile works upon it; bearing in mind that upon this day we were redeemed from the slavery of the devil. The blessed Pope Gregory affirms the same.'" Matthew 19:16-17 "But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day." Matthew 24:20. Jesus asked his disciples to pray that in the flight from the doomed city of Jerusalem they would not have to flee on the Sabbath day. This flight took place in 70 A.D. (40 years after the Cross). • Fear God Only Genesis 42:18-Deuteronomy 28:59 NKJV

Genesis 42:18 Then Joseph said to them the third day, "Do this and live, for I fear God:

Deuteronomy 4:9-10 "Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,

"especially concerning the day you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me, 'Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.'

Deuteronomy 5:29 'Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My comandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

Deuteronomy 6:1-3 "Now this is the commandment, and these are the statues and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess,

"that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statues and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

"Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you--a land flowing with milk and honey.'

Deuteronomy 6:13 "You shall fear the LORD your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.

Deuteronomy 6:24 'And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statues, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.

Deuteronomy 8:6 'Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.

Deuteronomy 10:12-14 'And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

"and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statues which I command you today for your good?

"Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it.

Deuteronomy 10:20 "You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast, and take oaths in His name.

Deuteronomy 13:4 "You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.

Deuteronomy 13:10-11 "And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

"So all Israel shall hear and fear, and not again do such wickedness as this among you.

Deuteronomy 14:23 "And you shall eat before the LORD your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.

Deuteronomy 17:12-13 "Now the man who acts presumptuously and will not heed the priest who stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or the judge, that man shall die. So you shall put away the evil from Israel.

"And all the people shall hear and fear, and no longer act presumptuously.

Deuteronomy 17:18-20 "Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites.

"And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statues,

"that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.

Deuteronomy 19:18-20 "And the judges shall make careful inquiry, and indeed, if the witness is a false witness, who has testified falsely against his brother,

"then you shall do to him as he thought to have done to his brother; so you shall put away the evil from among you.

"And those who remain shall hear and fear, and hereafter they shall not again commit such evil among you.

Deuteronomy 21:20-23 "And they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.'

"Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.

"If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,

"his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.'

Deuteronomy 28:58-59 "If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD,

"then the LORD will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues--great and prolonged plagues-- and serious and prolonged sicknesses.

THE RELIGION OF JESUS VS. THE RELIGION ABOUT JESUS
"What If We've Been Studying Jesus Instead of Following Him — And Mistaken One for the Other?"
    THE GREAT IDENTITY CRISIS
The earliest followers of Jesus were never called "Christians" first. Acts 9:2, 19:9, and 24:14 repeatedly identify them as "People of THE WAY" — practitioners of a visible, recognizable lifestyle, not subscribers to a doctrinal system. The term "Christian" (Acts 11:26) was a label given by outsiders in Antioch who saw people acting so much like Jesus they were called "little Christs." The name wasn't earned by theology but by resemblance.

The seismic shift occurred when Christianity moved from being a dangerous movement of radical obedience to an institutional religion of doctrinal compliance. By the 4th century, particularly after the Council of Nicaea (325 AD), we replaced FOLLOWING Jesus with DEFINING Jesus. We replaced the journey with a textbook, discipleship with membership, transformation with information.

This created two religions under one name:

The Religion OF Jesus = The actual way Jesus lived, what He practiced, commanded, demonstrated — and His call for us to do likewise.
The Religion ABOUT Jesus = The theological system built around Jesus that can be fully embraced without ever living as Jesus lived.

The devastating reality: You can be fully immersed in the religion ABOUT Jesus while completely disconnected from the religion OF Jesus. You can preach about Jesus without practicing Jesus, study Him without following Him, defend His deity while denying His demands.

THE INDICTMENT FROM JESUS'S OWN MOUTH
Matthew 7:21-23 contains the most terrifying words Jesus ever spoke. People who called Him "Lord," who prophesied, cast out demons, and did mighty works in His name are rejected with "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness." These weren't atheists — they had spiritual gifts, ministry track records, and correct confessions. Their problem wasn't doctrinal but behavioral. They performed in His name but never practiced His way.

Jesus draws the line with one word: "DOES." Not "understands" or "believes" the Father's will, but "DOES" it (Matthew 7:21). The Greek poieō implies ongoing, habitual, lifestyle execution.

James 2:19 demolishes belief without behavior: "Even the demons believe — and shudder!" The demons have impeccable theology; they believe every correct thing about Jesus and are still demons. Belief does not equal belonging. James 2:26 is clear: "Faith apart from works is dead" — not weak, not immature, but corpse-faith with no spiritual pulse.

Matthew 7:24-27 — The parable of two builders reveals that both men HEARD Jesus's words. The only difference was whether they DID them. The storm doesn't test your knowledge; it tests your obedience. The religion ABOUT Jesus crumbles like sand when tested because it was never built on the rock of OBEDIENCE.

WHAT JESUS ACTUALLY COMMANDED (And What We've Ignored)
The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) commands us to "teach them to OBSERVE (Greek: tēreō — to guard, keep, practice) ALL that I have COMMANDED you." Not teach them ABOUT Me, but teach them to OBEY Me.

    Jesus commanded:
Love enemies and pray for persecutors (Matthew 5:44)
Turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39)
Give to those who beg (Matthew 5:42)
    Give in secret (Matthew 6:3)
Don't store up earthly treasures (Matthew 6:19)
    Don't be anxious (Matthew 6:25)
    Judge not (Matthew 7:1)
Deny yourself, take up your cross daily (Matthew 16:24)
Become a servant to be great (Matthew 20:26)
Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned (Matthew 25:35-36)
Matthew 25:31-46 — The final judgment separates sheep from goats NOT by theology but by deeds: Did you feed, give drink, welcome, clothe, visit? Both groups are surprised. The righteous served naturally; the condemned were so absorbed in religious activity they missed Jesus disguised as "the least of these."

Matthew 23 — Jesus reserves His harshest condemnations not for sinners but for religious experts. Seven times He calls them "HYPOCRITES" (Greek: hypokritēs — actors wearing masks). Verse 23: "You have neglected the WEIGHTIER MATTERS of the law: JUSTICE, MERCY, and FAITHFULNESS" while obsessing over minor details. We tithe our spice racks while the world starves for justice.

    JESUS'S PRIMARY INVITATION: "FOLLOW ME"
Jesus's repeated call throughout the Gospels (Matthew 4:19, 9:9, 16:24; John 1:43, 10:27, 21:19) was "FOLLOW ME" — not "believe correct things about Me." Akolouthei moi means "walk behind me, go where I go, do what I do." In rabbinical tradition, disciples walked so close behind their rabbi they were "covered in the dust" of the rabbi's feet.
1 John 2:6: "Whoever says he abides in him ought to WALK in the same way in which He walked."
1 Peter 2:21: Jesus left us an EXAMPLE (Greek: hupogrammon — a writing copy for children to trace) "so that you might FOLLOW in His steps."

    HOW JESUS ACTUALLY LIVED
PRAYER — Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16, 6:12: Jesus prayed constantly, desperately, all night. Prayer was the breath of His relationship with the Father.

COMPASSION — Matthew 9:36, 14:14, 15:32; Mark 1:41: Splanchnizomai (moved in one's bowels) — visceral response that always resulted in action: healing, feeding, touching lepers.

JUSTICE — John 2:14-16: He made a whip and drove out money changers. Luke 4:18-19: His mission was "good news to the poor, liberty to captives, sight to the blind, freedom for the oppressed." He publicly confronted systems that crushed the vulnerable.

SERVICE — John 13:3-5, 14-15: Knowing He had all authority, Jesus washed feet — including Judas's and Peter's — then commanded: "DO as I have done." Mark 10:45: "The Son of Man came not to be served but to SERVE."

TABLE FELLOWSHIP — Luke 5:29-30, 15:1-2; Matthew 11:19: Jesus ate with tax collectors, sinners, prostitutes, lepers — declaring solidarity with those the religious establishment rejected. The table was sacred space; the meal itself became transformation.

    THE COST OF FOLLOWING
Luke 14:26-27, 33 — Three times Jesus says "CANNOT be my disciple" unless you hate (by comparison) family, bear your cross, and renounce all possessions. Jesus made following Him harder, not easier.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross. Costly grace is following Jesus Christ." The modern church drowns in cheap grace while starving for costly discipleship.

    THE WATCHING WORLD'S VERDICT
Gandhi: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." Barna Research shows non-Christians perceive Christians as: hypocritical, judgmental, anti-homosexual, too political, sheltered.
Romans 2:24: "The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles BECAUSE OF YOU." The world doesn't read the Bible — they read US. And they're rejecting our version of Jesus because it bears no resemblance to the radical revolutionary from Galilee.

THE FRUIT TEST (Matthew 7:15-20) — We're known by FRUITS, not beliefs. Galatians 5:22-23 lists: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Does the modern church exhibit these? Or anxiety, division, harshness, and culture war?
THE CALL BACK TO THE WAY
Revelation 2:4-5 — To the doctrinally sound church at Ephesus: "You have abandoned your first love. REPENT and DO the works you did at first."

    What returning requires:
    FROM information TO transformation
FROM attendance TO obedience (James 1:22)
FROM exclusion TO inclusion (Luke 14:12-14)
FROM judgment TO mercy (Matthew 9:13)
FROM institutional loyalty TO Kingdom living
    FROM performance TO authenticity
FROM fear TO love (1 John 4:18)
FROM protecting power TO washing feet
Daily audit: Did I love sacrificially? Serve without repayment? Share resources? Forgive enemies? Notice the invisible? Pray desperately? Confront injustice? Take up my cross? Would a camera show Jesus or just religion?
    THE FINAL PLEA
Micah 6:8: "What does the LORD require? DO justice, LOVE mercy, WALK humbly with your God." Three things. Not three hundred doctrinal points.
John 13:35: "By this all will know you are my disciples: if you have LOVE for one another." Not correct eschatology or theological arguments — LOVE is the credential, the evidence, the proof.

John 14:6: "I am THE WAY, the truth, and the life." Not the doctrine, system, or institution — THE WAY. A way of living, not thinking. A path to walk, not master. A life to imitate, not a theology to study. A cross to carry, not a creed to confess.
The early church turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6) within 300 years — without political power, military might, or platforms — because they out-loved, out-served, out-sacrificed, and out-died everyone else. They were called THE WAY because their lifestyle was so radically different the only explanation was JESUS WAS ALIVE IN THEM.

    DISCUSSION QUESTION
"If someone watched your daily life for a month without hearing you speak — would they know you follow Jesus? What would they actually see?"
2 Corinthians 3:2-3: "You ARE the letter... written not with ink but with the Spirit... on tablets of human hearts." You are the gospel the world reads. What story is your life telling?

    PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
"Lord Jesus, I repent. I have studied You instead of followed You. I have defended Your name without demonstrating Your nature. Forgive the distance between my confession and conduct. Today I return to THE WAY — not religion, but YOU. Teach me to obey, not just believe. To love, not just confess. To serve, not just sing. Cover me in Your dust, Rabbi. I'm walking close behind You from now on. In Jesus's name, Amen."

    #THE SON OF LIGHT
#DAILY LIGHT 📖 THE RELIGION OF JESUS VS. THE RELIGION ABOUT JESUS "What If We've Been Studying Jesus Instead of Following Him — And Mistaken One for the Other?" THE GREAT IDENTITY CRISIS The earliest followers of Jesus were never called "Christians" first. This created two religions under one name: The Religion OF Jesus = The actual way Jesus lived, what He practiced, commanded, demonstrated — and His call for us to do likewise. THE INDICTMENT FROM JESUS'S OWN MOUTH Matthew 7:21-23 contains the most terrifying words Jesus ever spoke. WHAT JESUS ACTUALLY COMMANDED (And What We've Ignored) The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) commands us to "teach them to OBSERVE (Greek: tēreō — to guard, keep, practice) ALL that I have COMMANDED you." Not teach them ABOUT Me, but teach them to OBEY Me. Jesus commanded: Love enemies and pray for persecutors (Matthew 5:44) Turn the other cheek (Matthew 5:39) Give to those who beg (Matthew 5:42) Give in secret (Matthew 6:3) Don't store up earthly treasures (Matthew 6:19) Don't be anxious (Matthew 6:25) Judge not (Matthew 7:1) Deny yourself, take up your cross daily (Matthew 16:24) Become a servant to be great (Matthew 20:26) Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned (Matthew 25:35-36) Matthew 25:31-46 — The final judgment separates sheep from goats NOT by theology but by deeds: Did you feed, give drink, welcome, clothe, visit? Both groups are surprised. The righteous served naturally; the condemned were so absorbed in religious activity they missed Jesus disguised as "the least of these." Matthew 23 — Jesus reserves His harshest condemnations not for sinners but for religious experts. JESUS'S PRIMARY INVITATION: "FOLLOW ME" Jesus's repeated call throughout the Gospels (Matthew 4:19, 9:9, 16:24; John 1:43, 10:27, 21:19) was "FOLLOW ME" — not "believe correct things about Me." Akolouthei moi means "walk behind me, go where I go, do what I do." In rabbinical tradition, disciples walked so close behind their rabbi they were "covered in the dust" of the rabbi's feet. 1 John 2:6: "Whoever says he abides in him ought to WALK in the same way in which He walked." 1 Peter 2:21: Jesus left us an EXAMPLE (Greek: hupogrammon — a writing copy for children to trace) "so that you might FOLLOW in His steps." HOW JESUS ACTUALLY LIVED PRAYER — Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16, 6:12: Jesus prayed constantly, desperately, all night. SERVICE — John 13:3-5, 14-15: Knowing He had all authority, Jesus washed feet — including Judas's and Peter's — then commanded: "DO as I have done." Mark 10:45: "The Son of Man came not to be served but to SERVE." TABLE FELLOWSHIP — Luke 5:29-30, 15:1-2; Matthew 11:19: Jesus ate with tax collectors, sinners, prostitutes, lepers — declaring solidarity with those the religious establishment rejected. The table was sacred space; the meal itself became transformation. THE COST OF FOLLOWING Luke 14:26-27, 33 — Three times Jesus says "CANNOT be my disciple" unless you hate (by comparison) family, bear your cross, and renounce all possessions. Jesus made following Him harder, not easier. Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross. Costly grace is following Jesus Christ." The modern church drowns in cheap grace while starving for costly discipleship. THE WATCHING WORLD'S VERDICT Gandhi: "I like your Christ. THE CALL BACK TO THE WAY Revelation 2:4-5 — To the doctrinally sound church at Ephesus: "You have abandoned your first love. REPENT and DO the works you did at first." What returning requires: FROM information TO transformation FROM attendance TO obedience (James 1:22) FROM exclusion TO inclusion (Luke 14:12-14) FROM judgment TO mercy (Matthew 9:13) FROM institutional loyalty TO Kingdom living FROM performance TO authenticity FROM fear TO love (1 John 4:18) FROM protecting power TO washing feet Daily audit: Did I love sacrificially? Serve without repayment? Share resources? Forgive enemies? Notice the invisible? Pray desperately? Confront injustice? Take up my cross? Would a camera show Jesus or just religion? THE FINAL PLEA Micah 6:8: "What does the LORD require? • •A Prayer for God to Give Us What We Need.

    Author: Anthony Valente

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

    (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Not long ago, I was talking with a fellow baseball dad at a game. When my son made a good hit, I joked that I prayed for that one. And the truth is that I did…. but not how one might think. As he walked to the plate, I prayed for favor and for the Lord to help my baby use the abilities he’s been given to help his team. I prayed for him to look to the Lord for his strength in that moment. But I also prayed for the Lord to give him what he needs. And there is nothing easy about that prayer, y’all.

Because what he needs at that moment may be to strike out. It may be losing. And it may mean that I must watch my baby feel hurt and work through hard things, which is never fun.

As parents, any time we see our children hurt, we hurt. And many times, we want to save them and take that hurt away. But in His great mercy, the Lord has shown me that every “what they need” prayer is an opportunity for my children to grow one step closer to becoming who the Lord created them to be. And for that growth, for that stretching, to happen…. it means going through uncomfortable, hard things at times.

Things that are necessary for them to grow closer to the heart of the One who loves them most. Things that must happen for them to learn to truly trust Him, despite bad circumstances. Things that provide an opportunity for the Lord to prove He is faithful and good, even during sadness or heartache.

This prayer is one of the most important ones we can pray for ourselves, our children, and those we love. Because in saying, “Lord, give them what they need in this moment,” we are releasing our control. We are laying down our agendas. We are choosing to trust that the Lord knows better than we do. We are acknowledging that we will not only trust Him with the easy things, but the hard things too.

So often, what we need is not even close to what we want. And somehow, our “wants” outweigh our “needs” over and over again. In the way we choose our meals. In the way we spend our money. In the relationships we devote time to. Even in prayer. But those “wants” are not what Jesus speaks of.

In Matthew 6, Jesus reminds us not once, but twice, that He knows our needs. And all we must do is come to Him with simple prayers and hearts that seek Him above all else:

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” Matthew 6:7-8

My dear friends, the Lord’s ways are higher than ours. His thoughts are higher than ours too. And He can be trusted. Pray for the Lord to give you, your babies, and those you love what they need to see and hear and feel the Lord’s presence so clearly in their lives, that they can’t help but be men and women after His own heart. In the end, that is the greatest desire of all.

    Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for knowing what we need, even before we do. Help us to release control of our agendas, our wants, and the “needs” we think we need, to You. I pray that You would give me, my children, my family, and friends what we need, whatever that may be, to see You and feel Your presence more clearly in our lives. Help us to be men and women after Your own heart.

Loving heavenly Father, forgive my pride in trying to second-guess what You are doing and even trying to tell You at times what is best for my life, when You have a perfect plan and purpose for all Your children. Keep me broken at the cross I pray, and may Your will be done in my life. Thank you, Lord. I trust and love You, Lord.

    In Jesus’ Name,

    AMEN

Whoever is [spiritually] wise, let him understand these things; Whoever is [spiritually] discerning and understanding, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But transgressors will stumble and fall in them.

    (Hosea 14:9)

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

    (Philippians 4:19)

How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep!

    (Psalm 92:5)

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

    (Luke 6:38)

O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.

    (Psalm 40:5)

All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and goodness and truth and faithfulness To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.

    (Psalm 25:10)

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

    (Matthew 6:33)

The way of the guilty is crooked, but the conduct of the pure is upright.

    (Proverbs 21:8)

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”

    (Malachi 3:10)

For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear and worship Him [with awe-filled respect and deepest reverence].

    (Psalm 103:11)

Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.

    (Psalm 77:19)

“Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, ‘That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!’”

    (Luke 12:22-24)

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

    (Matthew 10:29-31)

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

    (Psalm 23:1-4)

    (pic verse)

Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen!

    (Revelation 1:7)
