Genesis 42:18 Then Joseph said to them the third day, "Do this and live, for I fear God:

"that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.

"then you shall do to him as he thought to have done to his brother; so you shall put away the evil from among you.

Deuteronomy 21:20-23 "And they shall say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.'

"If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,

"his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.'

Deuteronomy 28:58-59 "If you do not carefully observe all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, THE LORD YOUR GOD,

"then the LORD will bring upon you and your descendants extraordinary plagues--great and prolonged plagues-- and serious and prolonged sicknesses.
