Good morning, brethren.

THE WORD FOR TODAY. EASTER SUNDAY, ā APRIL 5, 2026.
"THE WONDER OF EASTER"
āā¦Like a lamb to the slaughterā¦ā Isaiah 53:7 NIV
JOURNALIST-MISSIONARY Pierre van Paassen tells how prior to World War II, Nazi soldiers arrested an aging rabbi, stripped him naked, and demanded that he preach the sermon heād prepared for the following Sabbath. With great dignity the old man asked if he could wear his yarmulke and his captors agreed, thinking it added greatly to the joke. Then, while they jeered and prodded him, the elderly rabbi talked about what it means to walk humbly before God. Phil Yancey writes: āWhen I read of the torture and execution of Jesus, I think of that naked rabbi standing humiliated in a police station. And I canāt fathom the indignity and shame endured by Godās Sonā¦the bullying game of Blind Manās Bluff in the high priestās courtyardā¦the professional thuggery of Pilateās and Herodās guardsā¦the catcalls of spectators up the long road to Calvary, and finally the cross itselfā¦I marvel at the self-restraint God showed throughout history, allowing the Genghis Khans, the Hitlers, and the Stalins to have their way. But nothing compares to the self-restraint shown that dark Friday in Jerusalemā¦Legions of angels awaited His command. One word and the ordeal would end.ā Isaiah said, āHe was āled like a lamb to the slaughter, andā¦he did not open his mouth.āā Jesus could have appealed to His Father, and He would have provided āmore than 80,000 angelsā (Matthew 26:53 AMP). Instead He chose to endure the cross and its shame to save you. Thatās the wonder of Easter!

ii. WINNING SOULS TO THE SAVING OF MANY
"You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." - Genesis 50:20
We often read in the Bible that God works ahead of a situation that is yet to come. Twenty years before a major famine, God put a plan into effect and sent young Joseph to Egypt. For thirteen years, Joseph was taught, tested and isolated by God to carry out His plan.
God prepared him for a time of death and destruction, of chaos and hunger. Joseph did not know about this. However, God had chosen him to save many lives at that time, including those of his own family.
Just as God isolated Joseph for a special task, so is God segregating a group of Christians today. This group is - as in the life of Joseph - also in a time of great testing and struggle, so that they will increasingly get to know the voice of the Good Shepherd.
A special purpose
If you belong to this group, then like Joseph did not understand, you might also not understand why you have to go through struggles and difficulties. You might wonder why God allows these difficulties in your life. God has already seen that we have set our hearts to follow Jesus Christ in everything. So, God has a special purpose for everything we go through, like He had with Joseph.
The reason why Joseph became a great servant of God was that he passed all the trials. He did not allow hatred, bitterness or a feeling of revenge in his heart because of what his brothers had done to him, but he continued to humbly trust his God.
If we want to belong to this group in these last days, we will have to go through all the tests of our lives like Joseph did.

2. Morning Prayer for today.
i. Morning Prayer
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⤠Exodus 20:8
The Sabbath is the link between the paradise which has passed away and the paradise which is yet to come. ⤠Andrew Murray
Dear God, we start this Sunday with You. Itās Your day, and we want to honor that. Youāve given us this day not as a burden but as a gift. We need the rest to stay healthy, and we need the spiritual refreshment to keep our hearts warm and full of love. Without this day, we might forget to keep You at the center of our lives. So weāre grateful for this day that Youāve set aside for us.
Please make this Sunday a day full of blessings. Help us to focus on You and let go of the worldās distractions. Let us hear Your gentle voice in the quiet moments, reminding us of Your love.
Fill our home with Your peace. Our minds have been stressed and overwhelmed by the weekās demands. Give us Your calm this morning. Take away our worries and anxieties. If the world has taken too much of our focus, let Your grace take over so that You are at the center of our lives again. Strengthen our love for You, so it pushes out any love for things that donāt matter.
Bless everything about this day. As we read Your word, help us understand it and let its teachings guide our lives. As we pray, may we receive the blessings we need: comfort when weāre sad, strength when weāre weak, guidance when weāre unsure, and wisdom when we donāt know what to do.
As we try to be a blessing to others, help us to have the same mindset as Jesus. We ask all this in Jesus' name. Amen.
