    *HE WAS FORSAKEN FOR YOU* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:MARK 15:33-39```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (MARK 15:34).*_

    *Winston Churchill once paid a heartfelt tribute to the brave veterans of the Royal Air Force who stood guard over England during _World War II,_ famously stating, "Never in the history of mankind have so many owed so much to so few." There's also a monument honouring the heroism of the US 101st Airborne Division, who fought valiantly in _The Battle of Bastogne,_ one of the bloodiest confrontations of the same _World War._ It reads: "Seldom has so much American blood been shed in the course of a single action. Oh, Lord, help us to remember!" Yet, when we gaze upon the Cross of Christ, we can genuinely say: "Never in the history of the universe has mankind owed so much to One. Oh, Lord, help us to remember."*

    *The crucifixion of Jesus carries immense significance. As He was nailed to the cross, supernatural darkness enveloped the land for three hours, symbolising God's judgment on sin and the deep anguish of the Saviour. In that moment, as Jesus bore the weight of humanity's sins, He felt an unbearable spiritual separation and cried out, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" This profound anguish underscores the serious consequences of humanity's sin and the staggering cost of our redemption. When Jesus breathed His last, the temple curtain, which separated the holy of holies from the rest of the temple, tore from top to bottom. This powerful act signified the removal of the barrier between God and humanity, showing that we now have direct access to the Father through Jesus Christ. We no longer need human mediators; Jesus has paved the way for us to approach God confidently.*

    *A Roman centurion who played a role in Christ's crucifixion and was typically cruel and indifferent to spiritual matters was deeply moved by Jesus' extraordinary death. He declared, "Truly this man was the Son of God." His testimony reveals that Christ's sacrifice offers salvation to everyone, regardless of race, tribe, or nation. Sadly, the religious leaders nearby misinterpreted Jesus' cry and failed to grasp the significance of His sacrifice. Even though they witnessed these events, they couldn't see God's salvation right before them.*

    *The Cross stands as the ultimate demonstration of God's love for man. He gave His only Begotten Son for our redemption. This ultimate sacrifice demands our gratitude and that we confidently draw near to God, since we now have access to Him. It also compels us to share the message of the Cross, proclaiming that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and His salvation is available to all.*

    *DELICATE BUT NECESSARY BALANCE* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:MATTHEW 22:15-22```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's" (MATTHEW 22:21).*_

    *Mei Ling (name changed) was a house church leader in a restrictive Asian country. The government mandated that all churches register under state control, which would mean compromising biblical teachings. Many pastors complied out of fear, but Mei Ling believed this would dishonour Christ's lordship over the Church. She continued leading secret Bible studies, citing Acts 5:29: "...We ought to obey God rather than men." When authorities raided her meetings, she refused to deny her faith, even under threath of imprisonment. Mei Ling still respected other laws (paying taxes, not inciting violence), but she drew the line where the government contradicted God's Word. She prioritised worship, evangelism, and discipleship - rendering to God what belonged to Him. Her courage strengthened other believers to remain faithful in that community.*

    *In our text, the Pharisees and Herodians intended to ensnare Jesus by His own words. They asked Him whether paying tax to Caesar was right or wrong. It was a question with profound religious and political implications. The question of the Pharisees was a trap, intended to put Jesus in a dilemma. If He said "yes", it would pitch Him against the people who resented paying tax to their Roman oppressors. If, on the other hand, He answered in the negative, He would be accused of inciting insurrection against the Roman Government, even though that would please the Jews. Jesus perceived their evil intent and dealt with it appropriately. He asked for a tribute (tax) coin and enquired whose image was on it. It was Caesar's! Caesar's image on the coin (denarius) signified his ownership and authority. Therefore, Jesus told them that since the money was Caesar's, it was their civic duty to give it back to him.*

    *In the same breath, Jesus tries to emphasise the need to balance our civic duties with our irrevocable divine obligations that prioritise surrendering our lives to God, whose image we bear, by creation. Humans must submit to divine ownership and authority.*

    *As Christians, it is our duty to obey the laws of our nations, as long as they do not contradict God's word. Beyond that, our total allegiance and loyalty must be given to God in active and productive service. And as the Scriptures emphasise, "Ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit which are God's."*

    ```TEXT:1 PETER 2:18-25```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps" (1 PETER 2:21).*_

    *Many people consider suffering or outright injustice as punishment from God. They condemn themselves, thinking that they must have committed an unknown offence, for which God is punishing them. Some wallow in self-pity, believing that they are so unfortunate to face such experiences. And yet, others become disconsolate, distressed and depressed. But it is not all suffering that is the result of an offence. Sometimes, God allows it to test our faith and strengthen our character.*

    *This is the kernel of Apostle Peter's admonition to Christians everywhere. He says that because we are in the world with its corrupted and evil tendencies, we might on occasions, suffer in the hands of wicked people. Such people could be our employers who are not believers in Christ. Irrespective of whether they are considerate or harsh towards us, we must respect them. If they punish us wrongfully, we must gladly bear it as a testimony to the grace of God in us. This is more meaningful and acceptable to God, than when we suffer for our foolishness, failures and faults.*

    *In fact, this was the example our Lord Jesus Christ handed us, suffering for sins He did not commit, and ultimately paying the supreme price with His life for the salvation of humanity, without complaints or hesitation. He committed no sin and was truly faultless. He did not retaliate against those that maltreated Him. He submitted Himself to the most excruciating death on the cross, so we would be reconciled to God, and live in righteousness. We who were like lost sheep, found our way back to God because of the sacrifice of Christ.*

    *The Lord is calling us to be loyal, respectful and steadfast in faith when we suffer unjustly in the hands of our employers or other people of authority, even if they are not Christians. We should expect to be misunderstood, maltreated and humiliated when we walk in the steps of Jesus Christ. Rather than consider it strange, we should rejoice as our suffering in the faith brings glory to God. It encourages other believers to persevere in following the Lord, and inspires non-believers to turn from their sinful lifestyle, and embrace Christ.*

    *EFFICACY OF THE BLOOD* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽

    ```TEXT:1 JOHN 1:5-10```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 JOHN 1:7).*_

    *As John Wesley was returning home from one of his evangelistic outings, he was confronted by a common robber who snatched his Bible case from him and was hurriedly fleeing from him. However, Wesley told him there was something else he had not taken. In amazement, the robber stopped, expecting more from the evangelist. And Wesley told him, 'If you regret this action of yours later in life, remember the blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God cleanseth us from all sin.'*

    *Years later, after Wesley had ministered to some people, the man walked up to Wesley and asked him if he recognised him. Wesley replied, 'No.' And the man went to report to Wesley that after he stole his bag, the word he left with him never ceased to haunt his conscience until he surrendered his life to the Lord.*

    *Dearly beloved, there is power in God's word and in the blood of God's Lamb to cleanse and set free the worst of sinners whose souls have been estranged from God. God's perfect solution to humanity's problem of sin is the blood of Jesus that was shed once and for all at Calvary. "When I see the blood, I will pass over you... And behold, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world."*

    *Regardless of the life's challenges you are going through, if you put your confidence in the blood of the Lord Jesus, the efficacious blood will save you from sin, purge you of your selfish cravings, heal you of the pain and pang of diseases and deliver you from Satan.*

    *Even so, not only does the blood cleanse and make whiter than snow, it also enables unworthy recipients of it to overcome the wicked one, even Satan. Furthermore, it speaks better things for the believer than the blood of Abel because its foundational source is God's inalienable anchor of mercy and grace. Never fail to take full advantage of the blood of Jesus.*

    WEDNESDAY 18TH FEBRUARY, 2026```

    *OUR TIMELESS GOD* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽

    ```TEXT:PSALM 90:1-6```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" (PSALM 90:2).*_

    *On November 9, 1989, something unimaginable happened. The Berlin Wall, which had divided East and West Germany for nearly three decades, crumbled. Built in 1961, the wall symbolised division, oppression, and the seeming permanence of political power. Generations of people lived and died under the shadow of its concrete barriers, believing it would stand forever. World leaders, strategists, and historians thought the _Cold War_ would last indefinitely. Yet, in an unexpected turn of events, the wall fell. The division that once seemed unbreakable vanished almost overnight. The mighty political structures that appeared permanent were, in reality, temporary. This Psalm of Moses reminds us that human structures, power, and life are fleeting. However, God remains unchanging and sovereign over all.*

    *Moses emphasises the contrast between God's eternity and human frailty in this Psalm. He begins by declaring that God has been a refuge for His people across generations. Unlike humanity, which is bound by time, God existed before the mountains were formed. While human life is brief, like dust returning to the earth, like grass that grows in the morning and whithers by evening, God is eternal, timeless and without age.*

    *Just as people once believed the Berlin Wall would stand forever, many today trust in human achievements, wealth, or power as if they will last eternally. They must remember that nations rise and fall, and people come and go, but God alone is timeless. In today's world, people are obsessed with longevity, anti-ageing solutions, and legacies. No matter how much we strive to control time, it is ultimately in God's hands. Rather than being anxious about the brevity of life, believers should find comfort in the timeless nature of God, who remains steadfast when everything else fades.*

    *For present-day believers, this passage serves as both an encouragement and an instruction. First, it reminds us that God is eternal. He existed before creation and will exist after it. If we know this, we must trust Him completely, knowing He is our refuge in a constantly changing world. We must serve Him with reverence and fear. Also, we must use our limited time wisely. Instead of chasing temporary pursuits, we should invest in things of eternal value, knowing that no matter how long we live, we will face the eternal God one day. Finally, we are to live in humility, recognising that we are not in control of time, but God is.*

However, God remains unchanging and sovereign over all.* *Moses emphasises the contrast between God's eternity and human frailty in this Psalm. He begins by declaring that God has been a refuge for His people across generations. Unlike humanity, which is bound by time, God existed before the mountains were formed. While human life is brief, like dust returning to the earth, like grass that grows in the morning and whithers by evening, God is eternal, timeless and without age.* *Just as people once believed the Berlin Wall would stand forever, many today trust in human achievements, wealth, or power as if they will last eternally. They must remember that nations rise and fall, and people come and go, but God alone is timeless. In today's world, people are obsessed with longevity, anti-ageing solutions, and legacies. No matter how much we strive to control time, it is ultimately in God's hands. Rather than being anxious about the brevity of life, believers should find comfort in the timeless nature of God, who remains steadfast when everything else fades.* *For present-day believers, this passage serves as both an encouragement and an instruction. Finally, we are to live in humility, recognising that we are not in control of time, but God is.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*As for His sphere, God has no circumference; as for time, no span.*_ πŸ“œπŸ“œ```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *JUDGES 1-4*πŸ“œπŸ“œ Our Timeless God https://dailymanna.app// *RECOMMENDED GOSPEL HYMNS AND SONGS - GHS 14: HOW GREAT THOU ART; GHS 15: O WORSHIP THE KING; AND GHS 11: HOLY, HOLY, HOLY* *TXD @THEXDEVOTIONALS on Twitter* *#DailyManna18thFebruary2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/@THEXDEVOTIONALS

    TUESDAY 17TH FEBRUARY, 2026```

    *PRODUCTIVE GRACE* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:TITUS 2:11-15```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (TITUS 2:11, 12).*_

    *In his memoir, John Newton, former slave trader turned hymn writer, penned the story of how his life received divine transformation through the power of God's grace. The unique event happened one unforgettable day in 1748, on the Atlantic Ocean, during the infamous transatlantic slave trade expedition. Newton experienced God's grace during a violent storm at sea. As he was struggling to survive, he cried out for God's mercy, which marked the beginning of his spiritual transformation. He later became a devoted Christian and pastor, penning the famous hymn, _"Amazing Grace."_ Fast forward till he breathed his last, Newton's life exemplifies the grace of God that brings salvation, underpinned by renunciation of ungodliness and worldly lusts, and demonstrating a life of sobriety and evidence-based christlikeness, in this corrupt and corrupting world.*

    *The narrative in our text captures the very essence of Christ's sacrificial death at Calvary and the fruits of our purchased redemption and justification. The Holy Ghost-inspired writing, clearly identifies the provision of grace, the portraits of grace and the productivity of grace. It explains that GRACE is a gift from God, which some preachers have used the acronym to unpack its very content as God's Riches/Righteousness At Christ's Expense, GRACE. We did not deserve it. No one is good enough for it. But God in His mercy, decided to freely make the grace available to all humans.*

    *No matter your ugly past, like Newton, or your unpleasant present, like the moment the promiscuous Samaritan woman encountered Christ at the well, the grace of God is available to forgive your past and furnish your present with the transformative power to reject and resist sin and evil. He gives us abundant grace to run away from worldly corruption and corrupting influences, and to begin to live a life that is godly, sober and Christlike in the present material environment.*

    *Live testimonies across the world have continued to confirm that the life transforming messages of the gospel, coupled with practical Christianity of the era of the apostles, have remained the undeniable evidence of the grace of God still available today for those willing and ready to receive it and live it out.*

    MONDAY 16TH FEBRUARY, 2026```

    *A CONSUMING FIRE* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:LAMENTATIONS 2:1-5```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about" (LAMENTATIONS 2:3).*_

    *From January 7 to 31, 2025, a series of 14 destructive wildfires affected the Los Angeles metropolitan area and San Diego County in California. According to a _Wikipedia_ report, the fires were exacerbated by drought conditions, low humidity, a buildup of vegetation from the previous winter, and hurricane-force _Santa Ana_ winds, which reached 100 miles per hour in some places. As at January 31, 2025, the wildfires had killed at least 29 people, forced more than 200,000 to evacuate, and destroyed more than 18,000 homes and structures, some of them belonging to Hollywood celebrities. The wildfires burned a total of 57,000 acres of land.*

    *The wrath of God is poured down, like wildfire, in today's passage, on Israel, God's beloved nation. This confirms that sinners will not go unpunished because the Holy God cannot deny Himself to indulge any sinful child or creature of His. His word cannot fail - "the soul that sinneth, it shall die." In this passage, we see how He overthrew the physical structures of Israel and waged war against a people He loved. He completely forgot the past privileges of "the daughter of Zion," "the beauty of Israel", and "His footstool," because of their backsliding.*

    *Israel had been God's special people from the days of Abraham, who pleased God by faith. But He never withheld punishment whenever they erred. God is a loving Father, but He never indulges His children in sin. A thin line, it is said, separates life from death, love from bitterness, and friendship from enmity. God is loving and caring, but He deals with us according to our current, not the historical relationship with Him. He is no respecter of persons and does not condone sin. He is longsuffering while waiting for sinners to repent, and He quickly forgives them whenever they turn to Him for mercy and pardon. Yet, He is unsparing in judgment when they abuse His longsuffering.*

    *A lesson from the plight of Israel is that when God turns against His children, it will be like an attack from a mortal enemy. This confirms that there is no permanent, unconditional security with God. Believers must work out their salvation with humility, faith, and godly reverence by consciously living right daily and by the grace freely given by God. We must avoid complacency, relying only on our past testimonies or relationship with God. Anyone who thinks they are standing in Christ regardless of their spiritual state will likely fall short and even miss heaven. Sinners must repent of their sins, and backsliders must return to their first love to escape God's judgment.*

    SENSELESS DEBATES

    KEY VERSE: “Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers”(2 Timothy 2:14).

    TEXT: 2 TIMOTHY 2:14-18

    The Rwandan Genocide was a devastating mass slaughter that occurred from April to July 1994. Over 800,000 people were brutally murdered. At the root of the killings was a debate over Hutu versus Tutsi fuelled by a complex mix of historical, cultural and economic factors. Though the nation is now fast healing and recovering from the ruins of the massacre, it will still take a long time before the scars and trauma resulting from it will be totally forgotten. This sad incident, one of many inhuman history, shows how damaging senseless debates can be.

    Paul the apostle knew the enormous destruction that useless arguments and debates can cause to the body of Christ. For that reason, he instructed young Timothy in today’s text to warn the believers against it. Instead of engaging in such arguments that are of no good to the church, believers are encouraged to study the word of God so that they can correctly discern between truths and errors. When they are well grounded in faith, avoiding heresies and their damnable effects will be easy.

    There is no better time than now when this warning of the Apostle is more apt to the church. The church today is involved in many debates and arguments over non-essential matters, and we are beginning to lose focus on our primary assignment on earth. While we argue, the Christian witness and reputation are harmed, causing non-believers to view Christianity as divisive and unloving. While we argue, the attention of the church is distracted from fulfilling the great commission, and countless sinners troop to hell daily.

    Senseless arguments and debates foster pride and arrogance and bring about sharp divisions, causing believers to become fragmented and isolated. They hinder spiritual growth, and cause hurts and offences. While we argue, we waste time, energy and other scarce and precious resources. We misrepresent Christ and grieve the Holy Spirit. In summary, senseless debates do no one any good. It is a ploy of the enemy to keep the Christian from focusing on the main thing and fulfilling Christ’s purpose on earth.

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Most religious debates are beside the point and neither win soul nor divine favour.

  • ```DAILY ANNA - (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR ADULTS)

    SATURDAY 14TH FEBRUARY, 2026```

    *MADE VULNERABLE!* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:JEREMIAH 50:1-8```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers" (JEREMIAH 50:7).*_

    *There are startling records of individuals, groups and nations that were once considered strong, impregnable and unconquerable but came tumbling down like a pack of cards due to internal weaknesses and decay. The Soviet Union (USSR), once a superpower, collapsed in 1991 due to internal weaknesses and external pressures. Some of the key internal factors include endemic corruption and cronyism within the system, economic stagnation, the refusal to embrace change, and tensions arising from the various ethnic groups that made up the union, among other factors. These internal weaknesses were further worsened by external pressures, leading to the final collapse of the union.*

    *Our text focuses on the promised return of the nation of Israel to their land after captivity and the predicted collapse and judgment of Babylon. However, our attention is drawn to what made the nation of Israel vulnerable and succumb to defeat in the first place. The reason is so apparent: "because they have sinned against the LORD..." The once strong and unconquerable nation of Israel became weak and defeated by their enemies because they sinned against God and corrupted themselves with idolatry and all forms of abominations. Sin took their strength and defence away, leaving them open to all forms of attacks and harassment from the enemy nations.*

    *Sin makes the Christian vulnerable. It strips him of all strength and removes the divine shield, leaving him at the cruel mercies of the "roaring lions" lurking around and seeking opportunities to pounce and devour him. The Christian remains strong and unconquerable as long as he lives in full obedience to God's word and continues in righteousness. But the moment he begins to flirt with sin, take the grace of God for granted, and neglect prayers and the fellowship of God's people, he becomes weak and open to defeat.*

    *The secret of staying strong and remaining unconquerable as Christians is avoiding sin. No amount of praying and fasting, no powerful online or offline prayer altar or "prayer contractor", no show of spiritual zeal and devotion, nothing at all can shield the sinning Christian from the attacks and onslaughts of the enemies, except the mercy and the grace of God alone. The secret of remaining strong and invincible is simple: stay away from sin! If you are already backslidden, you are treading on a dangerous path. Repent and return to the Lord without a moment's delay. If you delay your complete repentance and restitution, no one can guarantee what happens the next moment.*

If you delay your complete repentance and restitution, no one can guarantee what happens the next moment.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*Sin opens the back door of your life to the devil.*_ πŸ“œπŸ“œ```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *JOSHUA 11-14*πŸ“œπŸ“œ Made Vulnerable! https://dailymanna.app// *RECOMMENDED GOSPEL HYMNS AND SONGS - GHS 6: YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION; GHS 246: O BROTHER, LIFE'S JOURNEY BEGINNING; AND GHS 205: HAVE YOU COUNTED THE COST?* *TXD @THEXDEVOTIONALS on Twitter* *#DailyManna14thFebruary2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/@THEXDEVOTIONALS

    ```DAILY ANNA - (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR ADULTS)
    FRIDAY 13TH FEBRUARY, 2026```
    *WARNING AGAINST SEDUCTION* 🏽‍🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽
    ```TEXT:1 TIMOTHY 4:1-5```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (1 TIMOTHY 4:1).*_
    *Fidel Castro survived no fewer than 634 attempts on his life, according to his former secret service chief. Whether that figure is accurate or not, Cuba's iconic dictator provided an almost-mythical adversary, for what became an obsessive, error-prone assassination campaign by the United States _Central Intelligence Agency, CIA._ The agency's attempts to kill Castro ranged from the calamitous to the comical. Many of them were detailed by the Church Committee, a special Senate subcommittee headed by Democratic Sen. Frank Church in 1975, according to an ABC report. One attempt on his life, that nearly nailed it, came from a young German lady, Marita Lorenz, who was Castro's lover in late 1959. She was recruited as a contract-agent for the CIA and tasked with assassinating the Cuban leader. She was given two botulism-toxin pills to drop in Castro's drink, so her story goes. Just one would kill him in 30 seconds, but she developed cold feet, and Castro escaped to live till old age, and died of natural causes in November, 2016 at the age of 90.*
    *Seduction is a dangerous enticement to do evil, which is cleverly covered with seemingly attractive benefits. The agents recruited could be so familiar, that we let down our guard. Apostle Paul, therefore, warned believers, in our text, against the dangers of the activities of teachers of error in these last days, who are possessed with seducing spirits. The warning was not his personal opinion. It was the warning of the Holy Spirit, simply stated, to avoid any ambiguity. False teachings are rightly described as "doctrines of devils."*
    *Any serious, heaven-bound believer would ordinarily avoid any association with the devil; but the devil will not announce himself as the enemy of the Cross. He would rather speak through professing believers, especially popular and respected ministers who, unknown to their hearers, had abandoned their first love, and the doctrines once delivered to them.*
    *So, how do we identify such apostates, and what should we do to protect ourselves? First, we must know the truth, be grounded in it and stick to it. Second, we must recognise that there are false teachers already in the world, and watch out for them. Third, we must subject every teaching to the word of God and take a stand against every deviation. Fourth, we should teach the truth of the word diligently because it is the truth that can banish error. Moreover, we should not concede any ground to false teachers because they will overthrow the faith of the unwary, gullible, weak and carefree believers.*
    THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY, 2026```
    *CHANGE WITHOUT VIOLENCE* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽
    ```TEXT:ISAIAH 42:1-7```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth" (ISAIAH 42:3).*_
    *Naturally shy and retiring, Mahatma Gandhi, was a small, frail man, with a high-pitched voice. His non-violence movement was a key part of India's independence protests, and has inspired non-violent movements around the world. Gandhi believed that non-violence was the only rational way to achieve a peaceful society. Gandhi's leadership and belief in non-violence has inspired non-violent movements for civil rights and social change around the world. His tactics drove the British from India. In 1947, British, Muslim, and Hindu political leaders reached an agreement for independence. The agreement created a Hindu-dominated India and a Muslim Pakistan.*
    *From our text, Christ was prophesied by Isaiah to be a peaceful leader. He will be full of the Spirit and power of the Holy Ghost to set justice on the earth and the isles shall wait for His law. His voice will not be heard in the streets, leading a violent protest. His tactics will not imbibe or encourage a bloodbath, in the name of bringing freedom and change. During His earthly ministry, He advocated love for haters, prayer for persecutors, and forgiveness for determined offenders. He healed the servant of the Roman Centurion and reached out to the publicans and sinners. He is indeed, the Prince of peace.*
    *There is no violence in true Christianity. Societies are converted not because they were invaded, but because Christ was invited. He stands at the door and knocks. He only comes in when the doors of our hearts are peacefully and willingly opened. Whatever violence that was practiced in the history of Christianity, was not done by His approval. Neither can anyone prove that Christ, the Good Shepherd, inspired or encouraged him to violence. Reading through His comments and actions in the New Testament, one cannot but see and feel the love of Christ. Satan, and the religions and sects that offshoot from him block people from reading the Bible and coming to the light, because they know that His love is contagious, and that people will naturally prefer a loving Saviour than a creed based on violence, hatred and injustice.*
    *It is only through the love of Christ that we can bring lasting peace on earth. The only revolution that can change society is Jesus's revolution. When He shall come again, as prophesied in Scripture, He shall establish a millennial reign of unprecedented peace on earth. And only those who preach the gospel of peace are assured of reigning with Him eternally.*
    *VANITY OF WORLDLY PURSUIT* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽
    ```TEXT:ECCLESIASTES 1:12-18```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow" (ECCLESIASTES 1:18).*_
    *The story is told of a wealthy industrialist who leapt from a Chicago's ninth-story room, leaving this note: "I am worth ten million dollars as men judge things, but I am so poor in spirit that I cannot live any longer. Something is terribly wrong with life." He was right. Something was terribly wrong with his life - because he didn't experience the new birth, and therefore, had nothing to anchor his poor soul upon, in times of difficulties.*
    *Our passage for consideration today enunciates the pathetic picture of godless people who pursue earthly wisdom and knowledge acquisition without thinking about God and their relationship with Him. They feel they do not need God, with the assumption that they have all it takes to be independent of the Creator's care, wisdom and guidance. They pursue the mundane and mock God, His word and the upright, at the expense of their souls. They run after the temporal, forgetting the everlasting. They live for the present and are mindless of the future. They amass stupendous wealth, receive accolades for their achievements in different fields, and heap so much that will last generations but are measurable and poor towards God.*
    *Our world is replete with stories of wise, knowledgeable, wealthy, and accomplished men and women who live without satisfaction. They broke records in various fields of human endeavours and are revered by fellow mortals but never fulfilled. The lacuna and inner void are apparent. Many such opulent personalities end up miserable. Some with dementia, depression, wounds from self-inflicted injuries, and some commit suicide, confirming the truism that Christless living is a bundle of miseries and emptiness. Like the preacher aptly says, "vanity of vanities all is vanity".*
    *We must not forget that all we acquire on earth will not be relevant after death. The Lord's counsel is essential for all mortals. What shall it profit any man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Will you seek heavenly riches or continue pursuing a mirage like others? The decision is yours!*
    TUESDAY 3RD FEBRUARY, 2026```
    *BLINDNESS OF THE MIND* 🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽
    ```TEXT:2 CORINTHIANS 3:12-18```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ" (2 CORINTHIANS 3:14).*_
    *Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 - June 1, 1968) was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist and lecturer. Born in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, she lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of illness when she was 19 months old. She then communicated primarily using home signs until the age of seven, when she met her first teacher and lifelong companion, Anne Sullivan, who taught her language, including reading and writing. After an education at both specialist and mainstream schools, Keller attended Radcliffe College of Harvard University and became the first blind person in the United States to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Asked what could be worse than being born blind, Keller quickly replied, "The only thing worse than being blind is, having sight but no vision".*
    *Paul referenced the blindness of Jewish religious leaders in today's text. As merchants of the outdated, Old Testament religious practices, they continued in their blindness, despite all attempts by Christ to open their eyes to the requirements of God. The veil of the old religious order still covered their faces. They allowed their minds to be blinded by that which could not save. They prided themselves as children of Abraham and claimed the Law of Moses as the ultimate requirement for salvation. Some of these heretics were very prominent in the provinces, towns and cities where Paul preached salvation by faith through Christ. There was nothing else to do for them but to cry unto God for their salvation.*
    *Blindness of the mind, often referred to as "mind-blindness," is a phrase used to describe the inability to understand and interpret the thoughts, feelings, and intentions of others, essentially meaning someone is "blind" to the mental states of people around them. This concept is often associated with autism spectrum disorder. Our application here is much broader than the physical or mental disability. When someone allows his or her mind to be blinded by something with such an overwhelming influence, it closes one's mind to reality, no matter how good it is.*
    *A spiritually blind person can't accept the claims of God because he "just can't see it." This is a great obstacle for the Spirit of God to overcome. This does not in any way suggest that God, or the gospel, is powerless. It's a fact that God will not force you into something you do not willingly accept. He respects man's right to choose, which, He won't take away from him. It's up to each person to accept or reject God's entreaties.*
  • What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and loose his soul or what shall a man give inexchnage for his soul?this is a very important question of which the answer is nothing cause the souls is more precious than anything in life,it is your eternal being and that is what the Almighty God will punish for all eternity if you don't change your ways and start obeying his commandments.
    God is a righteous God and expect all his living creatures both man and angels to be righteous.God love man so much that he has to send his son Jesus Christ to die for our sin so that anyone who gives his or her life to Christ Jesus will have eternal peace and live with him in heaven for all eternity.so it is wiser to give your life to Christ Jesus today to escape such terrifying suffering in hell for all eternity,confess your sins and accept Jesus Christ today for tomorrow might be too late .
God is a righteous God and expect all his living creatures both man and angels to be righteous.God love man so much that he has to send his son Jesus Christ to die for our sin so that anyone who gives his or her life to Christ Jesus will have eternal peace and live with him in heaven for all eternity.so it is wiser to give your life to Christ Jesus today to escape such terrifying suffering in hell for all eternity,confess your sins and accept Jesus Christ today for tomorrow might be too late . #highlight@everyone
    *FACTS ABOUT THE TRUTH* ✍🏽🫡🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽
    ```TEXT:1 THESSALONIANS 2:1-6```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile" (1 THESSALONIANS 2:3).*_
    *America's Nobel Laureate in Literature, Saul Bellow said of Truth: "A man may say, 'From now on, I'm going to speak the truth'. But the truth hears him and runs away and hides before he's ever done speaking." Bellow was not conversant with the conquering Spirit Jesus Christ gives those He makes new creatures when they are born again. They live above board; they domesticate the truth, as the Lord Who saved them is Truth personified. They and the truth never part.*
    *Apostle Paul had this relationship with the truth. Writing to the brethren at Thessalonica, he says he and his fellow evangelists who brought the gospel of Christ to them had long abandoned the ways of "deceit...uncleanness... (and) guile." Paul says that after encountering Christ, he and Silvanus and Timotheus uncompromisingly embraced the truth that prevented them from speaking lies and "flattering words" to please men. Thus empowered, truth could not flee from them. It would abide with them.*
    *Since, as the Lord declared, truth possesses a liberating and an overwhelming force, we must trace the prostrate spiritual state of the whole of humanity to their rejection of the truth of the Gospel of the Son of God. They are predisposed to deceit and the lies of the devil, the father of all falsehood and his agents. The truth would always flee from them, seeing they hate this virtue.*
    *Believers in Jesus (The Way, The Truth, and The Life) must never fail to reveal themselves as the servants of the truth wherever they are. They must replay the conduct of the early disciples at Antioch, where the power of the truth they lived out promptly identified them with Christ. We must be believed; our body language must reflect what we preach. There should not be any disconnect between us and our message of salvation.*
    *CROSS BEFORE CROWN* 🫡🏽🏾‍🏾‍🏽‍🏽‍🏾🏽
    ```TEXT:ESTHER 2:10-17```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti" (ESTHER 2:17).*_
    *A politician who lost at the poll many times, but still went on to become one of history's most admired personalities, said he learned to bide his time in the face of hurdles that tried to stop his march into the hall of fame. He remained humble and obedient to the laws of heaven, he said, despite the torments. Sometimes, according to him, he suffered ridicule and outright rejection from those who told him he would never make it. They frequently referred to his serial failure in school. But the man, Abraham Lincoln, finally became the president of the United States, one of its greatest.*
    *Centuries before Lincoln, a Jewess called Esther showed greater tenacity and trust in God when a series of events cropped up, threatening to destroy her people in the land of Persia under King Ahasuerus. This young woman was an alien slave in the land, where an unforgiving king, hurt by his wife, sought to pick a new woman from among a group that included the young Jewish lady. The odds were against her. She was in the midst of a xenophobic people. The Jews were targeted for annihilation. She was closely monitored by her disciplinarian father-figure, Mordecai. She did not buckle. God celebrated her simple faith in Him, and moved the king to crown her his queen, eventually.*
    *The path to greatness, grandeur and glory is not rosy but thorny. That route is self-rejection for stoic submission to opposition expressed in trials, troubles, temptations and tests. It is bowing to the will of God that seems to run contrary to our wishes. Many describe them as blessings in disguise. The discerning, like Esther and Lincoln, would therefore calmly receive such buffets as the cross that must be borne before coronation.*
    *Genuine followers of Christ who want to make heaven must bear this in mind: the Master Himself carried the cross of shame before He was crowned in matchless glory. When we are mocked, threatened or denied our rights as we serve the Lord and evangelise, let us joyfully see it as the cross ahead of the crown reserved for us in Christ's kingdom.*
    *The mighty Niagara River plummets some 180 feet at the _American and Horseshoe Falls._ Before the falls, there are violent, turbulent rapids. Further upstream, however, where the river's current flows more gently, boats are able to navigate. Just before the Well and River empties into the Niagara, a pedestrian walkway spans the river. Posted on this bridge's pylons is a sign for all boaters: "Do you have an anchor?" followed by, "Do you know how to use it?" Child of God, do you know that Jesus is your Anchor in the storms of life?*
    *Paul the apostle, in our text, utilises the metaphor of an anchor in describing the dangerous waves and vicissitudes of life from which the believer flees to hide in Christ. He likened life without Christ, to the chilling reality of a drowning soul, or a quick descent of a boat into a ditch or a waterfall, without any anchor in place to hold it in times of storm. The result would be assured death of its passengers. If not for the provision made whereby our souls, like a boat, can be anchored in Christ, where it is safe from all storms and winds, no other mechanism can be trusted to save us. He reinforced, in stronger terms, the dependability and integrity of this pillar of salvation provided by the person and personality of Christ Himself, who is the Guarantor of the new covenant.*
    *Life is not a bed of roses. Sometimes, storms arise, with proven capacity to draw anyone who is not anchored to something strong and reliable. People are easily depressed because there is nothing solid to hold them in place. This has led to an increased suicide rate caused by the ignorance of the fact that the soul needs to be anchored in Christ, to withstand life's challenges. Just anchoring our souls in the Saviour guarantees better results than simply going for a rehab, practicing transcendental meditations or relying on mind building techniques. More commitment to the tenets and rituals of religion alone, also, hasn't helped much. Religion becomes an empty shell, when Christ, the Anchor of the soul is absent. Mere adherence to a set of rules, performing pilgrimages, and our good works, are inadequate to hold us up when real challenges comes.*
    *The urgent call here, is for all to come to Christ and find rest, peace and security. He alone has what it takes to hold us together, defend and protect us in times of needs; and preserve the soul into an everlasting life in His eternal kingdom.*
    *It is often said that the first duty of every soul is to find not its freedom but its Master. The escaping Israelites were blessed to have God and His obedient servant Moses leading them through their wilderness journey. After more than 400 years of servitude, Israel needed someone who can hear God speak and give clear direction of how to reach the Promised Land. Though decades of Egyptian servitude had dulled their hope, a new leader, backed by God's unfailing promises and powerful signs and wonders, was all they needed to steer their depressed hearts in the pathway to the Promised Land.*
    *Today's text illustrates the story of God's workings amid His people. We are exposed to God's reliability during uncertainties of life. The writer of the book of Proverbs counselled believers that, while trusting the Lord with all our hearts, we must never lean on our understanding. "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths", he says. The wilderness of Sinai was a very thorny terrain, hence the name _Sinai._ It was an area filled with uncertainties and unexpected danger for fearful Israel. Thorns and thistles are poor enablers while deciding on matters of eternity. However, the Lord our hope personified, promises to guide our steps along the path He has chosen if we let Him. He knows when to activate the journey and when to rest our weary souls. It was a training that will prove useful when Israel finally came face-to-face with their foes who were bent on keeping them from God's provision.*
    *In her popular song _His eye is on the sparrow_ written in 1905, Civilla Durfee Martin (1866 - 1948) the Canadian assured us that there's an eye in the sky seeing all the activities of men. The seen realm is for men, but the unseen belongs to our God who not only beholds the visible but also dwells in the realm of the invisible. This is why we can trust Him with every iota of our lives. At His command, we go. At His command, we stay. This is the secret of those who arrive safely in the journey of life. We must learn to obey and follow God's leading. He knows and sees all.*
    TUESDAY JANUARY 06, 2026
    FRET NOT
    KEY VERSE: “Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest” (2 Kings 4:7).
    TEXT: 2 KINGS 4:1-7
    In the winter of 2023, in a small ruraltown in Oklahoma, USA, a singlemother named Sarah, with two young children, faced severe financial hardship. She had lost her job, and theharsh winter brought increased heating costs. With dwindling food supplies and mounting bills, she felt overwhelmed, worried and anxious, not knowing how to survive the winter. One evening, a local church assembly anonymously delivered a box of groceries and a gift card to cover her heating expenses. Later, it was discovered that a group of people from her children’s school had come together to provide these items. This act of kindness, at a moment of desperation, reinforced her faith, thateven in hard times, God’s care is shown through the actions of others.
    The story in our text today cannot be better illustrated than with such an apt contemporary experience of people that put their faith and confidence in God at a time of uncertainty and a future that is largely unpredictable. The widow woman had lost her husband who was a faithful servant of God. This indicates clearly that no one is immune from life’s unpredictable hazards. Fortunately, the story does not end in total helplessness as the woman was wise enough to seek solution from the right source. She reached out to Elisha, the prophet of God, who decreed a miraculous increase through a simple act of faith. Having had the background and experience in the supernatural ways of God, she simply obeyed the man of God. Her obedience paid off when her little oil was miraculously multiplied and sufficient to pay off her debt and prevent her children from being taken away by her creditors. She indeed had more than enough to take care of her bills and expenses. Infact, the Bible further reveals that after paying her creditors she and her children lived off the income derived from the sale of the rest of the oil.
    Our God is still in the business of divine supply in times of needs. Whatever the fearful data or worrying statistics coming from any government about a depressing economic situation, remember that saints of God belong to a kingdom that never runs out of provision. This New Year is pregnant with divine surprises! When we seek solution fromthe right source, we shall definitely experiencethe right intervention.
    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
    The power of faith lies in our unshakable conviction about
    God
TEXT: 2 KINGS 4:1-7 In the winter of 2023, in a small ruraltown in Oklahoma, USA, a singlemother named Sarah, with two young children, faced severe financial hardship. She had lost her job, and theharsh winter brought increased heating costs. With dwindling food supplies and mounting bills, she felt overwhelmed, worried and anxious, not knowing how to survive the winter. One evening, a local church assembly anonymously delivered a box of groceries and a gift card to cover her heating expenses. Later, it was discovered that a group of people from her children’s school had come together to provide these items. This act of kindness, at a moment of desperation, reinforced her faith, thateven in hard times, God’s care is shown through the actions of others. The story in our text today cannot be better illustrated than with such an apt contemporary experience of people that put their faith and confidence in God at a time of uncertainty and a future that is largely unpredictable. The widow woman had lost her husband who was a faithful servant of God. This indicates clearly that no one is immune from life’s unpredictable hazards. Fortunately, the story does not end in total helplessness as the woman was wise enough to seek solution from the right source. She reached out to Elisha, the prophet of God, who decreed a miraculous increase through a simple act of faith. Having had the background and experience in the supernatural ways of God, she simply obeyed the man of God. Her obedience paid off when her little oil was miraculously multiplied and sufficient to pay off her debt and prevent her children from being taken away by her creditors. She indeed had more than enough to take care of her bills and expenses. Infact, the Bible further reveals that after paying her creditors she and her children lived off the income derived from the sale of the rest of the oil. Our God is still in the business of divine supply in times of needs. Whatever the fearful data or worrying statistics coming from any government about a depressing economic situation, remember that saints of God belong to a kingdom that never runs out of provision. This New Year is pregnant with divine surprises! When we seek solution fromthe right source, we shall definitely experiencethe right intervention. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The power of faith lies in our unshakable conviction about God THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 12-13
    *GOD WATCHES OVER YOU* 🫡🏽🏾‍🏾‍🏾🏾‍🏾
    ```TEXT:PSALM 121:1-8```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber" (PSALM 121:3).*_
    *A little boy enlisted into the service of God in his local church. This required that daily, he must attend the early morning service. He would, however, have to travel for a considerable distance in the dark before getting to the church. Although fearful of walking in the dark, he was determined to fulfil his obligation. He needed help to get to the church every morning. His father volunteered to help him. And for years, his father would wake him up very early in the morning, get him prepared and walk him to the church, before returning home to prepare for his own duties.*
    *God fulfils this role for every believer. He knows our fears, He sees the danger that lies on the path of every pilgrim on his or her way to heaven. He has promised not to leave or forsake you. Therefore, like the psalmist, you must look up to Him for help, recognising that He, as the maker of heaven and earth, has the power to help you. He will keep you from every danger as He neither sleeps nor slumbers. He shields you from the sun of affliction by day, and the moon of fear by night. He preserves His children from all evil, secures their soul from the onslaught of the enemy. He preserves them whatever their station in life, and whatever they may be. He is such a faithful Father.*
    *On display here is the psalmist's understanding of the all-pervasive influence of God on mankind. He carefully details what it takes to fully appropriate the full ramifications of God's blessings: fully set your gaze on His exalted hills, from whence all helps flow.*
    *As we journey through the Year, we must rest our confidence and hope in the almighty God who alone has the power to protect us day or night. He is most trustworthy because by His power, He created all things. When the all-powerful God watches over you, none can snatch you from His hands. Trust in the Lord because He loves you deeply, knows the path you are taking, and is able to keep you safe until you get to heaven.*
    *RESTING ON HIS PROMISES* 🫡🏽🏾‍🏾‍🏾‍🏾🏾‍🏾
    ```TEXT:ROMANS 4:17-21```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform" (ROMANS 4:21).*_
    *Today, we know Honda as a leading global brand in the mobility and power sectors. However, many people don't realise that the company's founder, Soichiro Honda, was raised in poverty, but his mother often reminded him, "You were born for something great." He held on to his mother's words even in the face of repeated disappointments. For instance, his first factory was destroyed during _World War II,_ and an earthquake claimed another. That promise from his mother fuelled his determination and served as an anchor for him.*
    *If Soichiro Honda's mum's assuring words could have such a profound impact that inspired him to succeed, how much more should we rest on the unfailing promises of the Almighty God. Abraham demonstrated such pure faith. God promised to make him the father of many nations, with a grand posterity. But he and his wife had passed the child-bearing age - Abraham was 100 years old, and Sarah was 90. Against all odds, Abraham believed the promise. He was convinced about the credibility and credentials of the Promisor, "even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were."*
    *Abraham's reliance on the promise of God paid off. They had a son (Isaac) at such an old age when their bodies were as good as dead. Observe some things about Abraham's faith: "Against hope, (he) believed in hope" - there was no natural basis for his hope; "...he considered not his own body now dead... neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb" - he looked away from the challenges; "staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief" - he was resolute in his faith; through his strong faith, he glorified God; he was "fully persuaded that, what (God) had promised, he was able also to perform" - he firmly trusted in God's omnipotence. God fulfilled His promise to him and counted his faith for righteousness.*
    *As you navigate the New Year, anchor your faith on God's promises in specific areas of your life and endeavours. Do not get fixated on the challenges and impossibilities confronting you; rest your faith in God's power, faithfulness, and goodwill; and, like Abraham, you will have results that surpass your expectations.*
    ```TEXT:MATTHEW 6:31-34```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (MATTHEW 6:33).*_
    *The German dramatist, Bertolt Brecht, witnessed mankind's two world wars. His experiences led him to a state of helplessness and hopelessness. "Life," he concluded, "is short and so is money." His verdict came as he saw the "futility" of wealth which fame brought him. He also despaired of life following the horror of deaths occasioned by the global conflicts. He had failed marriages and knew no peace, even after fleeing from Europe to America. So for him, neither life nor all the good things it stands for counted.*
    *Unarguably, Jesus Christ, the Author of life and all its rich resources, insists that man would not be so mortally despondent and pessimistic about life if they abide by His terms and conditions. He says that we can only enjoy all heaven has freely given us if we put God and His laws first in all our pursuits. Love for what His Kingdom teaches, holiness, forsaking worldliness, consideration for the poor, readiness for the Second Coming of the Son of God, selfless service in His Vineyard, should be our priority. In a word, man's business should be the unflagging search for and unremitting pursuit of God.*
    *Mankind has not known true joy and peace despite the great advances in medicine, science and technology over the decades because of misplaced perspectives. All around him suggests prosperity; but, alas, there is agony. Today's man is like a farmer harvesting massive yields from his fields, yet, ironically he is writhing in anguish. He worships ephemeral wealth, rather than the eternal God.*
    *Mankind can only regain composure if they accord first place to the Lord. That process releases salutary blessings that brings no sorrow. The rat-race of the age must not be allowed to push God aside. We must let Him prepare the ground for the good things of life He has for us, rather than seek those things before attending to His demand for righteous living. Man must passionately love God more than his carnal cravings. That is when he can appropriately receive His latent and manifest increase.*
    ```TEXT:MARK 9:30-37```

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him" (MARK 9:31, 32).*_
    *Many of Christ's teachings were given in response to questions His disciples and others asked. It is proper and expected that people should ask for clarification when they do not fully understand an instruction or information they receive. However, in today's passage, the disciples of Christ were afraid to ask Jesus about a crucial matter they did not understand.*
    *Jesus has been talking about His death and resurrection. However, the disciples could not connect with the idea of the Messiah dying. They assumed Christ's Messiahship was to deliver their nation from Roman domination and that they, the disciples, would occupy leading positions in the kingdom He would set up. So, when Jesus spoke about His betrayal, crucifixion, death, and resurrection, they did not understand and were afraid to ask Him. The question is, why were they afraid to ask? Could it be that they feared Jesus would rebuke them for their ignorance or that they would get an answer they would not like? Instead of asking Christ to explain more profound things about the Kingdom, they debated who would be the greatest in the coming Kingdom.*
    *The disciples were just like most people today in their lust for pre-eminence. Despite their shallow understanding of kingdom principles and the imminence of Christ's passion, the disciples were busy arguing about rank and position among themselves. The desire to be great and control others is a common human trait. Jesus sees our hearts and knows our secret ambition and lust for position. To cure this monster of unbridled lust for power, Jesus draws our attention to a little child to illustrate humility, meekness and self-effacement. Children just serve and run errands with no ambitions to acquire power or prominence. We need to seek the right knowledge and understanding to practise what is most important in the Kingdom.*
