```TEXT:PSALM 90:1-6```
```KEY VERSE:``` _*"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" (PSALM 90:2).*_
*On November 9, 1989, something unimaginable happened. The Berlin Wall, which had divided East and West Germany for nearly three decades, crumbled. Built in 1961, the wall symbolised division, oppression, and the seeming permanence of political power. Generations of people lived and died under the shadow of its concrete barriers, believing it would stand forever. World leaders, strategists, and historians thought the _Cold War_ would last indefinitely. Yet, in an unexpected turn of events, the wall fell. The division that once seemed unbreakable vanished almost overnight. The mighty political structures that appeared permanent were, in reality, temporary. This Psalm of Moses reminds us that human structures, power, and life are fleeting. However, God remains unchanging and sovereign over all.*
*Moses emphasises the contrast between God's eternity and human frailty in this Psalm. He begins by declaring that God has been a refuge for His people across generations. Unlike humanity, which is bound by time, God existed before the mountains were formed. While human life is brief, like dust returning to the earth, like grass that grows in the morning and whithers by evening, God is eternal, timeless and without age.*
*Just as people once believed the Berlin Wall would stand forever, many today trust in human achievements, wealth, or power as if they will last eternally. They must remember that nations rise and fall, and people come and go, but God alone is timeless. In today's world, people are obsessed with longevity, anti-ageing solutions, and legacies. No matter how much we strive to control time, it is ultimately in God's hands. Rather than being anxious about the brevity of life, believers should find comfort in the timeless nature of God, who remains steadfast when everything else fades.*
*For present-day believers, this passage serves as both an encouragement and an instruction. First, it reminds us that God is eternal. He existed before creation and will exist after it. If we know this, we must trust Him completely, knowing He is our refuge in a constantly changing world. We must serve Him with reverence and fear. Also, we must use our limited time wisely. Instead of chasing temporary pursuits, we should invest in things of eternal value, knowing that no matter how long we live, we will face the eternal God one day. Finally, we are to live in humility, recognising that we are not in control of time, but God is.*
