A Unique Offer - Lift Up My Eyes
As a card-carrying member of the Grammar Police, one word that is frequently misused bugs the daylights out of me. That word is “unique.” The Oxford Dictionary defines it as “being the only one of its kind.” Herein lies my objection. I often hear people describe something as more unique or most unique. What Can I Give? - Lift Up My Eyes
I was recently reading a seven-day devotional series “Journey to the Cross” by Peter Greig. He began day one relating the story from Matthew 26:6-13 in which a lady came to Jesus and poured out a vial of very expensive perfume on His head. This was an extravagant act and she was criticized for “wasting”

Everyone is a Jonah - Lift Up My Eyes
It is likely that the story of Jonah is the first Bible story young children remember. We all know who Jonah is. Some would say that it never happened, that it is impossible. I am not a scholar in that regard, but I think Eric Manning got it right when he said “Science tells

And the Word of the Year Is… - Lift Up My Eyes
Several years ago, I was a member of a business group that promoted choosing a “word of the year” to guide us in our business pursuits. I did this for three years, but as I approached retirement, I didn’t continue the practice. When I chose a word, I had someone prepare a poster that I

  • Most people have seen the classic movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" It's about the value of a single person. As I watched the movie come to the climax, it dawned on me that there is another lesson to be learned from the movie. • Psalm 150 is a Psalm of praise. The entire chapter bursts forth with praises to God. In my latest blog we apply Aristotle’s framework of the five W’s – who, what, where, when, and why, adding in the "how" of praise. Praise is more than lifting our hands in song, it involves our entire being. You can read it here. https://liftupmyeyes.com/who-and-what-should-praise-god/

Being caught by surprise, I pretty much stayed to the basics. As I reflected, I realized I had a much larger story to relate. Today's blog details my thoughts regarding the bone marrow donation that I made some 25+ years ago. I trust you will find this helpful in your own walk. https://liftupmyeyes.com/be-a-doer/ Please feel free to share this post or comment here.
