  • John 10:11
[11]“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

There are many shepherds, but not all of them are "good. " Many flee when they see the wolf coming and care not for the sheep. But Jesus laid down his life for his sheep. Not all men are his sheep, but those who will believe in him; and not one of his sheep shall perish.

    Prayer

You are my Shepherd, O Lord. You laid down your life for me, and you provide all things that I need from day to day and forever. Your goodness is unmatched by the hireling shepherds of this world. Your goodness and love surpass all that of man to an infinite degree and leave us in wonder and awe. Amen.

  • John 2:1-2
[1]On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
[2]Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

    John 1:14
[14]And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

When the Lord sent his only Son, he sent also his word. For his body was this very word made flesh. Importantly this was not simply a manifestation of God's word, but also rather an 'animation' of it (meant here in the original Latin as 'animare' –'to instill with life or spirit'), an instance of God's love and divine grace in action, among us.

    Prayer

Lord, I am grateful for your mercy in showing us your word made flesh so that we may be redeemed. Further, I am grateful to you for showing us your love and grace through your only begotten son. Let his body not have been torn and broken for no avail, but feed us now in the Eucharist. Let not his blood have been shed in vain, but have given us freedom. For thy word is my guide, and the holiest of sacraments. Amen.
