- CAN ANYTHING GOOD COME OUT OF NAZARETH?”
Text: John 1:45–51
Key Verse: John 1:46 — “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
Introduction
Beloved, Nathanael’s question was honest but limited. Nazareth was small, ignored, and looked down upon. In today’s language he was saying:
“Nothing important comes from there.”
But heaven had a different story.
God loves to bring greatness out of unlikely places.
Maybe people have looked at your:

- In Nehemiah 4:3, when Nehemiah and the Jews were rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, their enemies mocked them:
“Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.”
Meaning
1. Mockery and Discouragement
Tobiah ridiculed the work of God’s people, suggesting their wall was so weak that even a small fox could knock it down.
This represents how the enemy tries to belittle and discourage God’s people whenever they rise to build, grow, or move forward.
2. The Spirit of Opposition
The enemy uses words to sow doubt and weaken faith (Proverbs 18:21).
“Even foxes can bring it down” means the work is useless, fragile, and will not stand.
3. But God’s Truth
Despite the ridicule, Nehemiah and the builders prayed and continued with determination.
Eventually, the wall was completed in just 52 days (Nehemiah 6:15).
This shows: What God builds cannot be destroyed—even if the enemy mocks it.
Life Application
People may mock your vision, your church, your calling, or your progress, saying it won’t last.
The devil may whisper discouragement: “It’s too weak, too small, even foxes can bring it down.”
But when you stay focused, prayerful, and obedient like Nehemiah, God Himself will make the work stand firm.In Nehemiah 4:3, when Nehemiah and the Jews were rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, their enemies mocked them: “Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, Even that which they build, if a fox go up, he shall even break down their stone wall.” Meaning 1. What Will Bring Back God’s Power
1. Return to Holiness and Obedience
God’s power is tied to His presence, and His presence rests on a holy people.
“Be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy” (Leviticus 19:2).
Sin, compromise, and worldliness dull the Spirit’s fire. When the church walks in purity, the anointing increases.
2. Deep, Fervent Prayer and Fasting
Every move of God in Scripture and history began with prayer.
Jesus told His disciples when they failed to cast out a demon: “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21).
Prayer doesn’t twist God’s hand, it aligns us with His will and channels His power.
3. Strong Faith in God’s Word
Miracles follow those who take God at His Word.
Hebrews 11 shows that faith was always the trigger for God’s power—whether Abraham, Moses, Elijah, or the early church.
“And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through accompanying signs” (Mark 16:20).
4. Restoration of Hunger and Desperation for God
Revival fire comes where there is desperation.
David cried: “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God” (Psalm 42:1).
When believers are satisfied with routines, God’s power is absent. But hunger draws Him near.
5. Unity in the Body of Christ
At Pentecost, “they were all with one accord in one place” (Acts 2:1). Unity unlocked the outpouring of the Spirit.
Division and strife grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30).
6. Bold Witnessing & Evangelism
God’s power is not for entertainment but for mission.
When the apostles prayed for boldness to preach, “the place where they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness” (Acts 4:31).
Signs follow when we step out in faith to reach souls.
In short: God’s power comes back where theTheme on God’s reality to us today. Today ni 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔑 What Will Bring Back God’s Power 1. 2 Timothy 1:6 (ESV)
“For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.”
2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV)
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”
Philippians 2:12 (ESV)
“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Connect this with Paul’s words to Timothy, urging him to fan into flame the gift of God.
“Lord, rekindle the fire of Your Spirit within us. Help us to be faithful in every season, and teach us to walk humbly and reverently before You.
