Love Your Neighbor

Scripture

Leviticus 19:18 (NKJV)
You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.


The Heart of God’s Law

This verse captures one of the central truths of God’s Word—love. While much of Leviticus focuses on rules, offerings, and purity, this command reveals God’s heart behind it all. His people were not only to be holy in worship but also in how they treated one another. To love one’s neighbor as oneself meant showing the same care, patience, and kindness we desire for ourselves.

For believers today, this command is reaffirmed by Jesus as one of the greatest commandments. Love for God and love for others summarize the entire law. True holiness is not just separation from sin—it is active compassion, forgiveness, and service toward others.

This verse calls us to release grudges, refuse vengeance, and live out God’s love in practical ways every day.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for showing me perfect love through Jesus Christ. Help me to love others as You have loved me. Remove any bitterness or unforgiveness from my heart, and teach me to walk in compassion, grace, and peace. In Jesus name, Amen.
