Asking Questions is an Effective Way of Witnessing to Catholics
Many of the 1.3 billion Catholics were born into their religion and have never examined their faith through the lens of Scripture. From an early age they are taught that salvation comes through their church, the priests, the sacraments and their good works. Roman Catholicism is often called the plus religion because of what it has added to the pure Gospel of grace. Catholic salvation is never secure in this life. They rely on Jesus plus Mary, faith plus works, grace plus merit, Scripture plus tradition and the blood of Jesus plus purgatory. Catholics do not know that any addition to the Gospel is a denial of the sufficiency of the Lord Jesus Christ (Heb. 7:25). Any addition to the Gospel also nullifies the saving grace of God, which is the only means by which God saves sinners (Romans 11:6). Catholics, who are victims of this deception, need to be evangelized with the true Gospel of grace.
As we witness to Catholics we must persevere with patience to untangle the sticky web of religious indoctrination and traditions that hold them captive (Col. 2:8). We must follow the instructions of Paul and "not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, and correcting opponents with gentleness." We must pray for God to "grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth," that they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, who holds them captive to do his will (2 Tim. 2:24-26).
The three most important biblical principles to remember as you witness to Catholics:
1) Establish Scripture as the supreme authority for truth (2 Tim. 3:16). We must always test the uninspired words of men with the inspired Word of God which is our only infallible source for truth.
2) Proclaim the Lord Jesus as the all-sufficient Savior (John 19:30; Heb. 7:25; Acts 4:12). We must show that His Work of redemption is finished, perfect and all-sufficient to save sinners completely and forever.
3) Share the promise of the Gospel which is eternal life (1 John 5:13; 1 Pet. 1:3-5). Catholics only have conditional life.
Following are some other important biblical principles as you witness to Catholics:
Declare God is our Holy Creator require us to be perfect as He is perfect (Gen. 1:1; Mat. 5:48)
Share that every one is a sinner and condemned under God's righteous judgment (Rom. 3:10-18; Heb. 9:27; Rev. 20:14).
Proclaim Jesus and His Word as the most trustworthy source for truth (John 14:6; 17:17; 18:37).
Show that the Scriptures are sufficient for knowing and understanding how to be saved (2 Tim. 3:15).
Define the Gospel and its divine power to save (Romans 1:16; 1 Cor. 15:1-4; Eph. 2:1-10).
Warn of the fatal consequences for anyone who teaches a different gospel (Gal. 1:6- 9).
Show that no man or pope is infallible. Peter (who Catholics believe was their first pope) admitted he was wrong (Gal. 2:11-14).

“𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯,
𝘈 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘪𝘯.”
Have we ever been startled by a medical scan that revealed a hidden issue—something unseen, unfelt, yet urgently real? That is how God’s Word works. It reaches beneath the surface, exposing motives, wounds, and sins we never noticed. Scripture does not scan the skin; it searches the soul. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐆𝐨𝐝.
🕮 𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟒:𝟏𝟐, written to weary believers, declares: “𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘶𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥…” This is no poetic exaggeration. God’s Word is alive, active, and precise—piercing “𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵.” It reveals what lies beneath our outward looks.
In a world crowded with opinions, noise, and shallow comfort, only God’s Word cuts through the clutter and exposes what is real. It confronts without compromise. It doesn’t negotiate with sin; it exposes it. It searches us fully—knowing our hearts better than we know ourselves.
The Bible teaches that Scripture pierces the inner life. God’s Word does more than inform; it judges hidden motives (𝟏 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟒:𝟓). It divides truth from self-deception, wounds pride, and heals repentance. Like a surgeon’s blade, it cuts not to harm, but to restore what sin has infected beneath the surface.
God’s Word is a fire and a hammer (𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟐𝟑:𝟐𝟗), a mirror revealing our true condition (𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝟏:𝟐𝟑–𝟐𝟓). It never returns void (𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟓𝟓:𝟏𝟏). It reproves, corrects, and instructs in righteousness (𝟐 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝟑:𝟏𝟔). It sanctifies us by truth (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏𝟕:𝟏𝟕). As the saying goes, “𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦”—because God aims straight for the heart.
Jesus Christ is the living Word made flesh (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏:𝟏𝟒). He sees every thought and intention (𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟒:𝟏𝟑). The same Saviour who spoke life into the dead still speaks through Scripture today: “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦” (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟔:𝟔𝟑). When the Word pierces us, it is Christ calling us out of hiding and into healing—cutting not to destroy, but to redeem.
What is God’s Word trying to pierce in you today? Don’t resist the cut—receive it. Let Scripture expose what you’ve ignored and heal what you’ve hidden. What His Word reveals, His grace restores. When God’s Word pierces the heart, freedom is never far behind, because His Word “𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦” (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟖:𝟑𝟐).
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Heavenly Father, let Your Word pierce my heart with truth. Cut through every lie, fear, and hidden sin. Heal what is wounded and shape me into Christlikeness. Make me tender to Your voice and bold in obedience. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!

"He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto eternal life" John 4:36
Those who work for this world — often fail of reward; but those who do God's work — are sure of good wages and of glorious harvest.
"The wages of sin — is death."
The wages of much of earth's toil — is disappointment.
But the wages of living for God — is life, and the joy is sure and eternal.
It is often hard work which the Christian has to do. The sowing is ofttimes in tears — but the reaping is always in joy. Christ Himself found the sowing hard and sorrowful — but He has never been sorry in Heaven for what it cost Him here. The old prophet having spoken of the sorrows and sufferings of Christ's life, said, "He shall see of the travail of his soul — and shall be satisfied."
We have other examples of the same. When He had gone through His sore temptation and was "hungry," we are told that angels came and ministered unto Him. In Gethsemane also, after His bitter agony, we read that there appeared an angel from Heaven strengthening Him. May we not suppose that always when He had any special service, costing Him an outlay of strength — spiritual refreshment was imparted to Him in some secret way by His Father?
As He sits now on His throne and sees the millions of the redeemed coming home to glory, all saved through His sufferings — He never regrets that He gave such a price for their redemption — but rejoices and is satisfied with the wages which He receives. So it will be with all His followers, who are permitted to suffer in any way in bringing lost ones home. The wages will a thousand times compensate for all the sacrifice and cost.
No true work for Christ has ever been in vain. On earth many a seed is dropped which dies in the soil; but no seed of heavenly truth which is sown in faith and watered with tears — ever fails to spring up somewhere and some time into a plant of righteousness. It may not always grow as the sower hoped, nor always just where he hoped, nor when; yet no living word of God can ever die.
We should notice the kind of wages God gives His reapers. He does not pay them in gold and silver — but in life — life eternal. Those who work in God's harvest-fields, may not grow rich in men's eyes — but they themselves grow into richer, riper, holier spiritual blessedness.

- Walking in God’s Favor
Scripture
1 Samuel 18:14 (NKJV)
And David behaved wisely in all his ways and the Lord was with him
Faithfulness in the Midst of Favor and Opposition
1 Samuel chapter 18 reveals what happens after David’s victory over Goliath. David quickly became known throughout Israel, and his success brought him into close relationship with King Saul. Jonathan, Saul’s son, formed a deep and loyal friendship with David, recognizing God’s hand upon him.
As David continued to serve, he behaved wisely in all that he did. God’s presence was clearly with him, and everything he put his hand to prospered. David was given responsibility, leadership, and favor among the people.
However, with favor also came opposition. When the women of Israel sang that Saul had slain his thousands and David his ten thousands, Saul became jealous. Instead of rejoicing in God’s work, Saul allowed envy and insecurity to take root in his heart.
Saul’s jealousy grew into fear and anger. He began to see David not as a servant but as a threat. On multiple occasions Saul even tried to kill David. Yet through all of this, David remained faithful. He did not retaliate or act out of bitterness. Instead, he continued to serve and conduct himself with wisdom.
Verse 14 highlights a key truth. David behaved wisely and the Lord was with him. His success was not simply the result of skill or ability. It was the result of God’s presence and David’s consistent faithfulness.
This chapter teaches two important lessons. First, God’s favor does not remove opposition. In fact, walking with God may sometimes increase it. Second, how we respond to both success and opposition reveals the condition of our hearts.
For believers today, 1 Samuel 18 reminds us to remain faithful whether we are experiencing favor or facing difficulty. God calls us to walk in wisdom, humility, and trust, knowing that His presence is what sustains us.
Reflection Questions
1. How do I respond when God blesses others around me
2. Am I able to remain faithful and wise when facing opposition or misunderstanding
3. Do I recognize that true success comes from God’s presence in my life
Prayer
Lord God thank You that Your presence is with those who walk faithfully before You. Help me to behave wisely in all my ways. Guard my heart from jealousy, pride, and fear. Teach me to remain humble in times of favor and steady in times of opposition. Let my life reflect Your wisdom and Your grace. In Jesus name Amen.0 Comments 0 Shares 45 Views2
