At LMVSC, we are restructuring our youth recreational soccer program by introducing our new Early Player Development Program (EPD). The Early Player Development Program is an innovative approach designed to build technically confident players from the very beginning of their soccer journey, 3 year old Soccer Tots

The EPD Program combines LMVSC’s long-standing community-based recreational model with professionally guided, age-appropriate technical training focused on ball mastery, coordination, agility, first touch, confidence on the ball, and small-sided play. Players continue to enjoy the experience of playing alongside schoolmates and neighborhood friends while developing foundational skills in a fun, active, and developmentally appropriate environment.

As part of this innovative restructuring, LMVSC has also created a new leadership position. Director of Early Player Development dedicated to technically overseeing the program structure, curriculum implementation, player development standards, and volunteer coach mentorship across the youngest age groups. This investment reflects LMVSC’s commitment to creating a true developmental foundation at the earliest stages of the game.

The new developmental pathway includes:
• Soccer Tots (3 Year Olds)
• PreKickers (Pre-K)
• Kinder Kickers (Kindergarten)
• Pre-Strikers (1st Grade)
• Strikers (2nd Grade)

As players progress through each stage, the curriculum evolves with them moving from movement and ball familiarity at the youngest ages to individual technical confidence and eventually teamwork, decision-making, and group play concepts by 2nd Grade.

In addition to elevating player development, LMVSC is also investing in volunteer coach mentorship and foundational coaching education to help create a more positive, consistent, and developmentally aligned experience for every family.

This new structure represents a modern and forward thinking approach to recreational soccer while continuing to preserve the heart of the LMVSC community experience inclusivity, friendships, player development, and a lifelong love for the game.
