Thunder Showers

I’m waiting for Thor’s thunderous showers
Fresh rain is needed to grow fine flowers
I do not want devilish dreary drizzles
That turn my hair into frightening frizzles
I dare the downpour to last four hours

The Unicorn Challenge: Write a poem, a song or story inspired by the photo prompt in 250 words or less. The picture reminds me of my backyard. Nothing dangerous there. Just Texas bluebonnet flowers and a few puddles after a good rain. And of course deer and unicorns who love nibbling on the currants I grow in my garden.

The sun in the morning bids me to rise
I come to my garden find a surprise
My heart fills with gladness for unicorns I see
Their sweet words fill me with glee
Twiddly-dee a ding and a dong
Every morning I sing them a song
Twiddly-dee a ding and a dong
They make my life happy nothing goes wrong
Late in the evening I go back to bed
Dream of the joy my unicorns spread
Magic they bring to all who believe
From my life they never will leave
Twiddly-dee a ding and a dong
Every morning I sing them a song
Twiddly-dee a ding and a dong
In my garden unicorns belong

Bouquets he brought her every day
She only wished he’d go away
They must have cost him lots of cash
But still she threw them in the trash
They sat around and talked awhile
She only sighed but would not smile
Around her waist he put his arms
Spoke of his love and of her charms

Thoughts of him came to her mind
For he was nice and he was kind
But she had shown him to the door
For he was always such a bore
FLOWERS and BLUE were past Square themes. I love receiving a bouquet of flowers, but they last such a short time.
I keep them as long as possible. They soon wilt and no longer have their sweet smell. And that makes me blue.
Petals of my heart
Wither and wilt away
Once blooming honey sweet
Now perish in decay
Blossoms in the past
Breathed out a fresh bouquet
Now only faint and limp
A faded dried nosegay
I am not feeling well and will be scheduling or letting a friend help with the rest of my October entries. Thanks for reading.

FLOWERS was a past SQUARE theme. Of course we need rain to grow flowers. One Word Sunday’s word is RAIN. So I combined the challenges.

Soon it’s gonna rain I can see it
Soon it’s gonna rain I can tell
Soon it’s gonna rain
What are we gonna do

Soon it’s gonna rain I can feel it
Soon it’s gonna rain I can tell
Soon it’s gonna rain
What’ll we do with you

We’ll find four limbs of a tree
We’ll build four walls and a floor
We’ll bind it over with leaves
And run inside to stay

Then we’ll let it rain we’ll not feel it
Then we’ll let it rain rain pell mell
And we’ll not complain
If it never stops at all
We’ll live and love
Within our own four walls
“Around a flowering tree, one finds many insects.”
Proverb from Guinea
My garden on a summer’s day
The butterflies did come to rest
Upon my curls they were a guest
Flowers in my hair a sweet bouquet
So still I sat so they would stay
Sweet nectar there all did ingest
My garden on a summer’s day
The butterflies did come to rest
Fluttering wings lovely display
Hungrily each sipped with zest
When satisfied with their quest
Silently they flew away
My garden on a summer’s day

I took a walk with my friends
It was a lovely day
Strolled on a flowered path
Familiar was the way
It was a lovely day
Wind blowing through my hair
Sun warm upon my back
Forgotten was every care
Strolled on a flowered path
Fresh blooms a splendid scent
Sun soon was setting low
The time so quickly went
Familiar was the way
My friends next to my side
Back to my home again
Content and satisfied
My recent post for OneWordSunday – Touch – was about a cactus. Nobody would want to get too friendly with a cactus. Some bloggers may not even have seen a cactus up close. My backyard used to be full of them particularly this one kind. I don’t even know what it is called. Many people in the community use cacti in their landscaping. That would take a lot of courage to. And maybe a lot of $ too. I have neither. One year my husband chopped them all down. Good riddance! Occasionally we see one popping up and get right out there with the hoe before it can reproduce. The flowers are beautiful and we enjoyed them until we didn’t.
I posted about the cactus on my blog about six or seven years ago.
