In April 2024, an unexpected string suddenly dominated the Domain Name System (DNS) magnitude list, generating traffic on par with major Top Level Domains (TLDs) due to a minor misconfiguration in a widely used global tool. The spike surpassed nearly all active top-level domains while going largely unnoticed. This talk explains how the anomaly occurred and how it was quickly resolved.

Emerging empirical research provides evidence that artificial intelligence (AI) is generating meaningful productivity gains. However, similar to previous waves of digital technology, these gains appear uneven across firms and countries. This raises many policy questions, including why these productivity gaps are emerging and what can be done to ensure effective diffusion and broad-based growth. Potential explanations include skill mismatches, limited access to compute and data, and constraints in existing infrastructure such as the power grid.
