Idaho Forest Group – Giving Guidelines

Idaho Forest Group (IFG) supports initiatives that make a broad, positive impact on the communities where we operate. Our giving priorities are guided by the following principles:

  • Our donations are typically reserved for established groups or nonprofit organizations—not individuals.
  • IFG directs contributions to organizations that benefit the wider community, rather than individuals or smaller, single-purpose groups. For instance, while we may support a youth baseball league, we generally do not sponsor individual teams.
  • Funding for travel, whether for individuals or groups, is provided on an exception basis only –with approval from executive team– and is not standard practice.
  • Most of our giving is directed to organizations that qualify under 501(c)(3) or other tax-exempt classifications. On occasion, IFG may consider contributions to entities without official nonprofit status if the cause aligns with our values.
  • We place high value on the engagement of our employees. When employee volunteer efforts or personal commitments align with our giving goals, those requests receive priority consideration.

Decision and Notification

  • Funding decisions are based on available budget, alignment with priorities, and potential for impact. We strive to respond to all inquiries, but submitting a request does not guarantee funding.
  • We aim to budget for charitable giving prior to IFG’s fiscal year, which is August 1 – July 31, and we finalize our charitable spending for the coming year by June 1. Requests should be received prior to June to budget for the coming year.
  • Requests should be received prior to June to allow us to budget for the coming year, however, we realize unplanned need often occurs throughout the year and we will consider each request on a case-by-case basis.

Recognition and Reporting

  • Organizations receiving sponsorships may be asked to allow for recognition opportunities (e.g., logo placement, event visibility) and a short summary or report on how the funds were used.
  • All donations and sponsorship support will be shared in IFG’s annual community benefit report.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Requesting organization is required to submit requests in writing through our online form available on our website here: ifg.com/donations request.
  • All donation and sponsorship requests will be reviewed monthly by the IFG Charitable Giving Committee, which consists of a cross-section of IFG leadership.
  • Once received by the IFG Charitable Giving Committee, requests will be vetted to determine whether they are corporate or mill-level:

-Corporate requests will be processed directly through the IFG Charitable Giving Committee. A designated member of the committee will communicate approvals/rejections to the requestor.

-Mill-level requests will be processed at the discretion of the superintendent at each site. Superintendents will communicate approvals/rejections to the requestor.
