Description:
The Events Manager – SOF Week reports to the Director of Events – SOF Week and executes a variety of internal operational and administrative functions to support the Marketing and Events (ME) Team. S/he is responsible for supporting the organization and execution of Special Operations Forces (SOF) Week in Tampa, FL. S/he supports event logistics, coordination with event planning partners and exhibit and sponsorship sales for Global SOF Corporate Partners.
Duties:
Primary Responsibilities: The Manager’s primary focus is support of SOF week execution, which occurs annually in Tampa, FL.
- Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of SOF Week
- Update event details on a variety of platforms, including but not limited to: Impexium (AMS), internal and external calendars, websites such as GovEvents.com, Social Media, etc.
- Support communications, meetings, and collaborative efforts with event-planning partners
- Assist in compiling speaker biographies and headshots for websites and event program guides
- Assist with updating the event website(s) content, as needed
- Support exhibit and sponsorship sales efforts to Global SOF Corporate Partners
- Support planning of supplemental events in and around SOF Week, to include the Global SOF Anniversary Reception, Gala, receptions, and more
- Assist in building the database of potential sponsors and exhibitors
- Attend in-person and virtual meetings / support at onsite events as needed
Secondary Responsibilities: The Manager’s secondary focus is in support of the Foundation’s Legacy events, specifically during the lead-up to event execution.
- When needed, support of the annual Policy Forum, networking receptions, seminars, workshops, happy hours / huddles, luncheons, and virtual events
- Update event details on a variety of platforms, including but not limited to: Impexium (AMS), internal and external calendars, websites such as GovEvents.com, Social Media, etc.
- Assist in setting up events in CRM/AMS system, including registration setup
- Assist in compiling speaker biographies and headshots for websites and event program guides
- Assist with updating the event website(s) content, as needed
- Assist with contract fulfillment for event exhibitors and sponsors, to include purchase and tracking of sponsored items
- Assist in collection of company profiles and logos for websites and event program guides
- Assist in building the database of potential sponsors and exhibitors
- Other marketing- or event-focused duties may also be assigned.
Requirements:
Desired Experience and Characteristics:
- 1-3 years of experience in a relevant field
- BA, AA, or Certificate in relevant field
- Background with Special Operations and/or Military Experience a plus
- Ability to manage time and work remotely
- Ability to work with a dynamic and fast-moving team
- Location in the Greater Tampa Bay Area (Hillsborough, Pasco, or Pinellas county)
Software Experience:
- Google Suite, especially Docs, Sheets, and Slides
- Canva
- Microsoft Office 365
- Monday.com
- Impexium or other Association Management Systems (AMS)
