The Children’s Museum of Tacoma, our flagship location, is a dynamic, play-based facility in the heart of downtown Tacoma serving over 140,000 people each year with Pay As You Will admission.

In partnership with Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), the first ever children’s museum on a military installation will opened its doors on April 24, 2021. This new location will continue to build upon relationships established through the Play to Learn programming on JBLM, and is designed to serve children, youth and their families, with an emphasis on early learners, those experiencing special needs, and reintegration of our military into family life.

Play to Learn Pierce County is for parents, grandparents, neighbors, family, and friends who nurture children ages six and under. Thematic curriculum invites individual play, fun group activities, songs, and a whole group circle time for children and adults to enjoy together. We offer both virtual and in person programs – all free.

Greentrike Cares kits offer children, staff, and families easy accessibility to thoughtfully prepared, play-based activities. Originally offered as a way to support children and families receiving treatment who are focused on their journey to health, Greentrike Cares offers a resource solely centered on infusing fun and joy into their experience, helping them to process the big emotions that go along with their health issues and treatment. We are proud to say that we are now able to offer this same care throughout Pierce County.

In 2024, Greentrike was deeply honored to receive the top Fisher Service Award and immensely grateful for the funding to support programs, operations, and our Pay As You Will admission at the Children’s Museum at JBLM. This grant will support the general operations of our Children’s Museum at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and help ensure that all military families have access to the many benefits of play-based learning, imaginative exploration, and community building.
The Fisher Service Award recognizes innovative nonprofits that improve the quality of life for military service members, veterans, and their families.
