…#22997) ## What A `new X()` callee must be a `MemberExpression` (ECMA-262 §13.3 `new MemberExpression Arguments`), so any `CallExpression` on the callee spine has to be parenthesized — otherwise the trailing `()` re-associates and the program changes meaning. Two codegen paths broke this: - **`TaggedTemplateExpression`** only implemented `Gen`, so the dispatcher dropped the `FORBID_CALL` context entirely. ``new (f()`g`)()`` was emitted as ``new f()`g`()``, which parses as the semantically different ``(new f()`g`)()``. It now implements `GenExpr` and propagates `FORBID_CALL` to its tag, mirroring `StaticMemberExpression`. - **`ChainExpression`** wrapped itself *and* forwarded the same precedence/context down, double-wrapping: `new (g?.())()` → `new ((g?.()))()`. It now resets the inner precedence/context once it wraps. Closes #22961 ## Examples | Input | Before | After | | --- | --- | --- | | ``new (f()`g`)()`` | ``new f()`g`()`` ❌ | ``new (f())`g`()`` ✅ | | `new (g?.())()` | `new ((g?.()))()` | `new (g?.())()` | | `new (f()?.g)()` | `new ((f())?.g)()` | `new (f()?.g)()` | | ``new (import("foo")`bar`)()`` | ``new import("foo")`bar`()`` ❌ | ``new (import("foo"))`bar`()`` ✅ | oxc keeps its existing convention of wrapping the innermost call rather than the whole callee (e.g. `new (f().g)()` → `new (f()).g()`), which is semantically equivalent.
