Nice. It somewhat resembles how Windows handles the XBUTTON1 and XBUTTON2 buttons, which are often mapped to forward and back actions by applications.

The hardcoded values are a bit unfortunate, but libinput seems to consistently map kernel events starting from BTN_SIDE (0x113) to buttons starting from 8, and as far as I could check, it works on Wayland.
