This ticket tracks roadmap of Embeddables feature, which is mostly located in embeddable and embeddable_enhanced plugins.

New Features

New Embeddable Types

• Image embeddable
• External content (<Iframe>) embeddable.
  • Maybe a collection of specific embeddables.
• Input control embeddable.
• Expression embeddable.
  • Would be nice to have expression editor.
• Help solution teams implement embeddables.
  • ML, SIEM, Observability, Anaylize&Maps. Watch out for correct embeddable implementation and using similar patterns.

Embeddable Panels

• Ability to remove extra spacing
• Allow per-panel filters
• Allow per-panel query
• Allow per-panel dashboard variables
• Redesign
• Do not navigate away from dashboard when editing visualization in Time-to-Visualize.
• Keep all panel settings (title, time range, drilldowns, editor) in one place (bottom drawer, flyout, modal).
• Easier/faster way of changing the most common properties, like title (user could double-click on it and edit in-place).
• Discuss how to better handle things that can be changed in view mode.

Other

• Disable interaction with embeddable
• Conditionals
• Render Dashboard component given dashboard ID
• Make sure dashboards can be embedded into other apps
• Make sure embeddables emit sufficient events to consumers (rethink the lifecycle).
• Dashboard embeddable shareable runtime — embedding dashboard externally outside of Kibana

• Variable support on embeddables. Allow local variables.

  • Alert inspector adapter (sync with app team and alerting team on what info should that provide).

Integration with expressions Plugin

• Make sure render-complete works well with expression renderers Modularize render complete #74504
• Embeddable expression functions (currently canvas is working on it).
  • Transfer code from Canvas and improve. Visualize embeddable expression should be in visualize plugin, maps embeddable in maps plugin.
  • AppArch could provide a generic embeddable expression function which can render any embeddable type.
