Changes proposed in this Pull Request:

Refactors the Co-Authors integration to use the plugin's store instead of a custom API request. This allows the bylines feature to be aware of the edited data and the byline text can be edited along with the author configuration without the need for a post save or page refresh.

This change requires a small patch to CAP, which I'm proposing here: Automattic/co-authors-plus#1110

The authors' data doesn't include its ID in the store, which we need. Ideally, this should be added to the plugin. If that's not possible, we can implement our own react hook to fetch the ID while still leveraging the store for live changes.

How to test the changes in this Pull Request:

  1. Make sure you are running Add id and user type to store formatted author data co-authors-plus#1110
  2. Edit a post and confirm you can edit the custom byline
  3. Tweak the authors, remove some and add others and do not save
  4. Edit the byline and confirm the available tokens reflect the edited authors
  5. Save changes, refresh the editor, and confirm all changes persisted and you are able to make changes to the byline with the saved tokens
  6. Deactivate CAP, edit a post and confirm you can edit the custom byline of a post

Other information:

  • Have you added an explanation of what your changes do and why you'd like us to include them?
