Kumusta Ka

(Ulitin *)

Umula’t bumagyo ayos lang
Huwag kayong mangangamba ayos lang
Kumusta kayo mga estudyante ko ayos ba?
Sana’y di pa rin nagbabago
Ahaha ahaha ahaha ahaha ahaha la la

Blog Day Procedures :) May 26, 2010

I first heard about our blog when Ate Faye and I were talking about life. She told me about having us do a blog about Galing Bata. I was like, “Oh no, don’t be thinking that.” But I also thought it might get us out of doing journals, and staying inside the same room all day. The blogging made Galing Bata much fun, I think. She told us we will have a website that will have all our work there. We had to always update it every week. We barely do it. I wanted to be part of it because its fun for me. We did a lot of typing and photoshop. We set-up the computers every Tuesday. We have to get the mac minis, power-cord, computers, keyboards, and mouses. She screams at us saying, “Everyone please help or else I’ll kick you out!” We start from 2pm to 3:30 pm. We do alot of picture taking. I earned a lot about computers and blogging, too. Thanks to Ate Faye!!!

I’ll miss everything that I did in blogging this summer. Especially being with Ate Faye, and my friends. I want to continue blogging next year, because I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for reading,

Tahanan is Galing Bata’s end of the year performance. It will be on Friday, May 28th. There will be food, games, and performances. There will also be a lot of fun stuff. The performances will be presented by the students and some staff. It will be hosted by a staff member. Last year’s Tahanan was really fun. The 5th graders peformed the “Bird Dance,” while the 4th graders did the “Suha Kasuha” dance. The performances were dedicated to Ate Holly and Kuya Ryan, because they were leaving for the next school year. There were also a lot of parents that came to attend. We’re hoping we could do the same this year. It’s almost the end of school year, and the staff has been working hard to prepare for the Tahanan. Everyone is welcome to join us!!!

We hope everyone will be there ☺

Last Words
By: Daltzwer Oliveros (6th grade)

My days in Galing Bata are counted. These are my last words. Galing Bata is one of the best programs I ever attended. I wish I could go to Galing Bata this summer. I’m sure it’s going to be fun. If I could, I’m going to be so happy. I wish I could really go to Galing Bata summer.

Also my days here in FEC were the happiest days in my life. I experienced a whole new level of fun days in my life. I made new and better best friends. I also joined the best program ever. That’s why I loved this year.

I know I’m going to learn a lot of stuff this summer. I believe that learning never ends. This is my reason why I’m sure I’ll learn a bunch of stuff. Learning will only end if you die. My dad told me this when I told him that it’s the end of school.

These are my last words this school year. I wish summer vacation would be fast. I’m going to miss everyone. I will specially miss Galing Bata and my friends. They all did something very important that change my life. I will also remember them all.

Summertime in the F.E.C. May 25, 2010

Hey guys, Dylan here, and here’s the details on what is going on in summer camp. We are going to have some of the usual things that are in the summer programs like field trips on one day for every week. What we usually do is usually some type of learning, but put a twist on it, I think.
The time for this is from 7am, if you want to be early and have breakfast. If not, you can come there later, any time before 10am. The program ends at 5pm. I’m hoping the field trip is going to be at the Exploratorium. Most of the staff are going to be there, too. I’m hoping that there will be lunch like Mac-n-Cheese, and activities like watching movies, and playing gays.

What I’m looking forward to for summer camp for this year is our choice to play on the computers, since I like playing on the computers. Another is doing the summer program somewhere else beside the main site for the program. I hope there will be at least some 6th graders in the program.

We Watched: IRON MAN 2 May 11, 2010

Iron Man 2
By: Carlo Villanueva (6th grade)

We left F.E.C at 2:45 p.m. to go to Metreon. We walked there and it took about 8 minutes total. Before we watched the movie we bought some food to snack on. The movie started at 3:00pm. We didn’t see the previews, but we made it just in time. We were so excited to watch the movie. We started eating even before the movie started.

The Iron Man 2 movie was amazing; you would not know what sort of thrilling parts that happened there. The thing keeping him alive in his chest is also killing him. So he had a final party but then things went wrong. His friend Rhodey thought that he was going crazy. So he took the blue Iron Man suite and tried to stop him. They clashed beams and it made a huge explosion.

Rhodey sent the armor to the military and they improved it. War Machine was awesome destroying those other androids in the end. It was so incredible; I couldn’t take my eyes off the movie screen. At the moment when they were in trouble, Tony Stark used very strong beams that destroyed every one of the droids. Then Ivan came in the very end, and attacked them. Rhodey and Tony were caught on Ivan’s electrocuting whips. But Rhodey and Tony clashed beams again and ended Ivan. It was a trap and the droids and Ivan exploded. In the end romance came in and Tony and Pepper were together. Tony was known as a hero again.

I look forward to watching the new series of Iron Man. I still expect to see Iron Man there, of course. I heard that Thor is going to be in the new movie. That’s really just unexpected!

Thanks for reading! ‘Til next time!

Life in The U.S
By: Mark Belocura (6th grade)

I went to the United States of America in the year 2006. It was a very hard decision to come here because I will be missing my family in the Philippines. I would even miss my best friends there. We had to go to the U.S. because my dad needs help, and he feels lonely most of the time. My dad went to U.S. in 1997, the year that I was born.
The first time I experienced racism was in school during lunchtime. It was last year that it happened. It made me sad, angry, and it made me think to do revenge on him. But I calmed myself down and just played volleyball with my friends. He said I was a “fat”, “brown”, “Filipino-pig”. It really affected me the way he said it. He also said some stereotypes of my own race.
I did know what racism was. My sisters told me the meaning of it before I departed the Philippines. They said there are some people who are really mean. They experienced it before, because they were born in Papua New Guinea. By the way, Papua New Guinea is near Australia. This classmate of my sister said that she was a “fat-pig.”
If someone is saying racist slurs to you, act calmly and peacefully. To respond peacefully, just ignore it. Don’t fight with that person because you don’t want to go to their level. Another thing to do is to talk to an adult about it.

Racism: is hatred against a race or another race

The boys club in Galing Bata are watching Iron Man2. Only the boys club! We expect violence, romance, cussing, action, and a lot of robots. We feel very happy to watch heroes in action like Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, and The Punisher. The marvel heroes are very impressive and awesome. I watched the first Iron Man movie and it was amazing. So I guess the new movie will be pretty amazing. I am really looking forward for the movie and I hope if you watched the movie you would like it.
