Food. Education. Support.
WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program that helps families feed their children healthy foods. WIC (Women Infants, & Children) has been helping families by providing healthy foods, nutrition education, and referrals to other health care agencies since 1974.
WIC provides nutrition information, healthy foods, and helps access health care for moderate to low-income families. WIC gives you resources, knowledge, and tools to help you and support your family. It’s free for moms, dads, grandparents, foster parents and all families who qualify. Whether you’re pregnant, already a mom, or raising a child younger than 5, you can get the right personalized support for you and your family.
You do not have to be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for the WIC program.
Benefits for Women
WIC Helps mothers raise healthy families with free food and healthy recipes. Our handouts cover topics such as healthy eating, breastfeeding, and pregnancy so that you’ll be ready to give your baby a healthy start. Healthy mothers are the start of healthy families. You’ve got this and we’re here to help!
Benefits for Infants
WIC helps you, as your baby’s needs change and can help you get your family off to a healthy start. WIC offers healthy pregnancy, breastfeeding, and safe feeding education. We can help you feel confident when your baby moves from breastfeeding to eating solid foods. Learn ways to comfort your baby when they cry; learn about safe sleep for your baby, and get tips on how to keep your baby active. With WIC’s help, you can be ready for your baby’s arrival.
Benefits for Children
WIC helps to support growing families so they can get healthy foods. WIC benefits do not end after your baby turns one. WIC can help you and your family until your children turn five, this can help your family continue to eat well and be healthy. By staying with WIC, you can continue to receive food, education, and support.
WIC Income Guidelines
WIC is open to many incomes including working and non-working families. The amount of money you earn before anything is taken out for taxes or other deductions must be at or below the amounts shown in this table. If your income is slightly above the guidelines, contact WIC to discuss your potential eligibility. If you are on Medicaid, TANF, SNAP or ADC, you are automatically income-eligible.
If you are a pregnant mom, you can add the baby you are carrying to the household size.
WIC Supports Growing Families
Many people know WIC as a place to support their growing family, and as a place where they can get healthy food. However, benefits do not end after your baby’s first year of life! WIC supports you and your family until your children reach their fifth birthday so your family continues to eat well and thrive. Be sure to continue with WIC so you can take advantage of the food, education, and support we offer.
If your income qualifies, contact one of the nearest WIC clinics to apply. The clinic will schedule you for the next available appointment to be certified to participate in the WIC program.
