Most Fiscally Irresponsible President in U.S. History

Those of you who’ve taken all the history quizzes know that I’ve studied the presidents extensively. Based on Trump’s pre-Covid first term, I probably would have put him in the low teens for all-time rankings (which isn’t necessarily an endorsement, since most of our presidents have been awful). His Covid spending bills and his listening far too long to Fauci & company dropped 10-15 spots. However, based on the trajectory of his 2nd term, he’s heading for the bottom 5 all-time with a shot at #1, and this is coming from someone who would probably put 8-9 Democrats in the bottom.
Woodrow Wilson and FDR were two of our worst presidents, not so much for their results while in office, but the lasting damage their policies did to the country and the world. Both dramatically increased Executive power, curtailed our freedom, ballooned the size of government & our annual tax bills, ravaged the stability of our currency, and set the stage for lasting, destructive wars. That is precisely what Trump is doing in his 2nd term. Outside of immigration, tell me one policy that would not have conservatives up in arms if you changed the face to Joe Biden or Barack Obama? Bankruptcy-inducing spending? Check. Continuing wars in the Middle East and Eastern Europe? Check. Protection of pedophiles and Deep State corruption? Check. Erosion of citizen privacy and civil rights? Check. Government takeover of private companies and industries? Check. Endless “executive orders” that have absolutely no constitutionality? Check Check.
I could go on, but hopefully you can see the point. It’s becoming increasingly easy to spot the principle-challenged, party-first, rah-rah cultists on both sides. For every Trump action, think about the long-term effects on the U.S. and the world. Think about the precedents that are being set. Even if you love Trump and believe his actions are good for the world, would you feel as comfortable with a President Newsom or President AOC wielding the same power & budget? Yes, it’s great Maduro is gone, but what comes next? Saddam was replaced with ISIS. Libya went into civil war after Gaddafi. In Afghanistan, thousands of solders were killed and trillions spent over 20 years so we could replace the Taliban with *checking notes* the Taliban! Even when you can create a successful, democratic nation, it’s an expensive, exhaustive process.
As for deficit spending, Trump budgets keep getting more outrageous, and the handful of Republicans trying to rein in that spending are called RINOs and “basically democrats.” 🙄 The irony of Trump’s latest military budget goal is that our current $1 trillion defense spending is equal to our annual interest on the national debt! In other words, if not for the fiscally irresponsible spending of the past, we could have doubled the military budget without taking from anything else. This is a perfect illustration of why the debt should be the top issue facing the country. It not only threatens the long-term stability of the U.S. and world financial systems, it decreases the flexiblity we have to respond to priorities of the future. In other words, that $1 trillion (and increasing) isn’t available to use for education, social security, defense, biological terror attack recovery, or anything else.
To put this in perspective, Trump’s military budget alone would be $4400 per person for everyone in a America. So, a family of four would be contributing $17,600 (plus interest) for wars every year. But hey, none of us need that money because the cost of living is so cheap. 👍 So, stop complaining you disloyal party members! You RINOs, you blackpillers, you antisemites! Trust the plan!
