Code of anti-discriminatory conduct

DocsBarcelona defends a diverse, inclusive, egalitarian and fair film and audiovisual industry based on values of respect, freedom of expression and tolerance. DocsBarcelona is currently working on an Anti-Discrimination Policy that includes the basic principles, accessibility conditions and reporting procedures in those cases in which there is any situation of discrimination, harassment, abuse and/or violence both in the workplace, regarding its workers, and in the public spaces in which the festival takes place. However, DocsBarcelona already has an Anti-Discrimination Code of Conduct that will be implemented in 2023.

DocsBarcelona does not tolerate any form of favoritism, offensive language, discrimination, harassment, abuse, marginalization or insulting behavior based on gender, ethnicity, religion, origin, skin color, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic class, caste, functional diversity or age.

DocsBarcelona does not accept sexism, racism, colorism, homophobia, biphobia, interphobia, transphobia, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, fascism, ableism, ageism or other intersectional forms of discrimination.

DocsBarcelona does not tolerate any act of discrimination, violence, abuse or verbal, physical, sexual or any other type of harassment towards its visitors, guests, members and workers.

In the event of breach of the Code of Conduct, DocsBarcelona reserves the right to revoke and deny access to the festival to the people involved, with immediate effect.

What to do in the face of a situation of discrimination, harassment, abuse or violence?

Anyone who has suffered a situation of discrimination, harassment, abuse or violence in the public space of the DocsBarcelona festival or has a related complaint can choose to express it through a formal or informal process.

You may choose to resolve the conflict informally, before using the formal process, depending on the seriousness of the events and with the aim of trying to change the behavior of the people involved. It is important to remember that some people may not be aware of their behavior and the impact it has on you. This is why expressing it informally can offer a better understanding and the opportunity to stop their behavior.

If you do not believe that the informal process is a viable option for your case, either due to the seriousness of the facts, or because the people involved have not addressed your informal complaint, you can decide to follow the formal process to report the facts. In this case, the DocsBarcelona staff, located in the festival office at the CCCB (c/Montalegre, 5. Barcelona), will accompany and refer the person to the Department of Attention and Prevention of Abuses in the Audiovisual and Performing Arts Sector in Catalonia of the Catalan Film Academy, which has the support of the Area of Social Rights, Global Justice, Feminism and LGTBI of the Barcelona City Council and the Area of Equality and Social Sustainability of the Barcelona Provincial Council.

The Department for Attention and Prevention of Abuse in the Audiovisual and Performing Arts Sector of Catalonia of the Catalan Film Academy has a Legal and Psychological Assistance Service. The service also accepts anonymous complaints from both victims and witnesses.

By WhatsApp and/or email, response within 48 hours.

*The DocsBarcelona Anti-Discrimination Code of Conduct has been drawn up following the models of the BFI and Berlinale, and in collaboration with the Catalan Film Academy.
