Up to 24 items can be stored in Storage in Chapters 2 and 3, while up to 48 items can be stored in Storage in Chapters 4 and 5. Weapons and Armor also have a total of 48 slots each.

Weapons increase individual party members' AT or magic. Each party member has a specific type of weapon that is mainly used by them: Kris can equip swords, Susie can equip axes, Ralsei can equip scarves, and Noelle can equip rings, but can also equip some swords. In addition, all party members can equip the unused EverybodyWeapon.
In the Light World, Kris's Stats screen lists an equipped weapon that depends on their equipped weapon in the Dark World; for example, the Spookysword in the Dark World becomes the Halloween Pencil in the Light World, while the BounceBlade becomes the Eraser. The BlackShard has the same name while in the Light World.
Swords are a weapon type that can be equipped by Kris. Some swords may also be equipped by Noelle.
As of Chapter 5, the only swords Noelle can equip are the JingleBlade (likely due to its Light World form being the Holiday Pencil, which belongs to her), the BlackShard, and the AquaKnife.

Key Items are usually plot-relevant items that do not have a meaningful use outside of advancing the plot. They cannot be discarded.
As of Chapter 2, Darkners are capable of turning themselves into Key Items, such as Lancer, Rouxls Kaard, and Starwalker. Kris can interact with such characters through the Key Items inventory menu.
During a brief section in Chapter 5, the Key Items section gets relabelled as Evidence. Evidence is gained by interacting with various objects in a certain room to be used in the fight against Yellow and Blue.
