MP of the week: David McAllister

This week’s featured missing person is David Allen McAllister, a 22-year-old man last seen in Bettendorf, Iowa on May 11, 2017. He’s white, with blond hair, blue eyes and a bunch of tattoos of which I have photos at the link.

I spoke to McAllister’s mom once, on Facebook. She was the one who told me the cross tattoo on his upper arm is actually yellow; it looks red in the picture because it was new and bloody.

McAllister left home in the early morning hours with his phone, his backpack and a Bible, and never came back. If still alive, he’d be 30 today.

MP of the week: Morterrius Settles

This week’s featured missing person is Morterrius Dantonio Settles, a 27-year-old man who was last seen in Memphis, Tennessee on August 11, 2010. He’s black, 6’3 and 190 pounds, with braided black hair, brown eyes, and a slight mustache and goatee. He has tattoos on his neck and both arms.

Settles was picked up from his and his girlfriend’s home by a man who was called “Bookie”. Bookie was armed and seemed angry. Settles disappeared while his girlfriend was giving birth to his third daughter.

If still alive, he’d be about 43 today, but I doubt he’s still alive.

Wanted to refer y’all to an interesting missing persons story

I discovered this article about a missing person: A Virginia Man Went Missing. Did He Suffer From “AI Psychosis”? (The answer to that question being “probably yes.”) Jon Ganz is still missing and I added him to the Charley Project today.

I have never used an AI chatbot and have a distrust of AI in general. I wish tech companies would not try to force AI technology on people and would give us the option to turn it off, for example on Google searches where the “AI summary of results” is at the top of every search and is often incorrect. The story I linked to is an example of how AI can go terribly wrong, particularly in individuals who are already susceptible to mental instability. Ganz had managed to put his life back together, against the odds, after spending decades in prison. Then it all fell apart pretty quickly and I think it probably would not have happened if he hadn’t started talking to the chatbot.

It sounds like Ganz probably died on the night he went missing. Because of the flooding in the area, it’s entirely possible his body was moved a long distance, and/or buried in sediment, and might not be found for a long time, if ever. I feel sorry for his wife.

MP of the week: David Kempker

This week’s featured missing person is David Christopher Kempker, a 27-year-old man who was last seen in Sacramento County, California on March 11, 2018. He’s 6’0 and 160 pounds and white, with brown hair, brown eyes, acne scars and many tattoos.

Kempker’s friend said they were on a fishing trip and got separated. Kempker’s family, however, doubts this, as he didn’t have a fishing license or even own a fishing pole. Three days after his disappearance, his truck was found abandoned. Outside it were his hat and vest.

If still alive, Kempker would be 35 today.

MP of the week: Jonathan Ginsburg

This week’s featured missing person is Jonathan Lewis Ginsburg, a 32-year-old white man last seen in Albany, California on October 7, 1987. He has brown hair, brown eyes, a scar on his forehead, pockmarks on his face and two hearing aids.

Ginsburg has mild cerebral palsy and is deaf. He communicates with a combination of sign language and talking. His disappearance may have been a suicide, but his body has never been found.

MP of the week: Casey Morgan

This week’s featured missing person is Casey Gene Morgan, a 39-year-old man who was last seen after he left the Waffle House where he worked in Marshall, Texas at 4:30 a.m. on August 8, 1997. Casey has scars on both his legs, an eagle tattoo on his back and a panther tattoo on his arm. He’s white, with brown hair and green eyes.

Casey’s truck was found abandoned in a wooded area after his disappearance, with bullets scattered on the floor. His rifle was missing.

If still alive, Casey Morgan would be 68 years old today.

MP of the week: Michael McClain

This week’s featured missing person is Michael Anthony McClain, a 29-year-old last seen in Nashua, New Hampshire on April 20, 2019. He’s black, with black cornrowed or braided hair, a goatee, brown eyes and a lot of tattoos; there are some photo of the tattoos on this Charley Project page.

After a night out clubbing, McClain called his boss to say, “They’re after me. More than one.” He also sent a series of garbled texts. He was last seen entering and exiting a parking garage at 3:30 a.m. The next day, he didn’t show up for work (he worked for a nonprofit, dealing with autistic children) and was never seen again.

If still alive, McClain would be 36 years old now.

Added a double murderer to the site today

So this guy disappeared in 2022, probably while hiking, and when looking up info about him I discovered that in 1985 he murdered his wife and baby son for the insurance money. He was sentenced to 36 years in prison for this, served his time, was released, then went missing.

I decided not to mention that in the casefile. It didn’t seem relevant to his disappearance decades later. I also didn’t want people thinking “this POS doesn’t deserve to be found.” Every missing person deserves to be found, even him. He committed a horrible crime but he probably has relatives who are decent folks and they deserve answers.

Hmm. Not sure if this man is missing or a fugitive.

So Andrew H. is listed as missing on the Wisconsin state database. However, I looked into it and the same day he disappeared, he was interviewed in regard to the crime of first-degree sexual assault of a child. Later that day he vanished and his truck turned up parked at a boat launch. Nine days after his disappearance, a warrant was issued for Andrew’s arrest for first-degree sexual assault of a child. The press release about this mentions he is believed to have had a rifle with him.

It sounds like Andrew H. either suicided, or wants very much for it to look like he did. The crime he’s been accused of could get him sent to prison for up to 60 years, or for life if the child is under 13.

MP of the week: George “Buddy” White

This week’s featured missing person is George Gilbert White Jr., nicknamed Buddy. He was 33 years old when he was last seen in Grandview, Texas on September 3, 1975. Fifty years ago now. He’s white, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was 6’0 to 6’2 and 180 to 190 pounds in 1975 and dressed in Western-style clothing, including a cowboy hat and cowboy boots.

White, a veterinarian, disappeared with an acquaintance, James Durwood Grisham. They were last seen leaving a bank together. A few days later White’s wife got a “cryptic” note saying saying something like “sorry about what happened” and to go see her father. We don’t know the exact wording of the note because it’s been lost.

In December 1975, Grisham’s body was found. The cause and manner of his death have never been determined, but in 2010 the authorities said they thought both men had been homicide victims. White has never been located.
