Prior to his nomination as U.S. Ambassador to Canada, Ambassador Hoekstra served as Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party (MIGOP) during the 2024 elections, where his leadership was instrumental in delivering a Republican victory. He previously served as U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands (2018-2021).

A career Foreign Service Officer, Robert P. Sanders is the Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. Most recently, he served as the Political Counselor and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Baxter Hunt, a career diplomat in the Senior Foreign Service, began serving as U.S. Consul General in Toronto in October, 2023. He is delighted to be back in Canada following his posting at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa from 2001 until 2004.
