School Reintegration for Childhood and Adolescent Cancer Survivors

Are you a healthcare professional experienced in working with childhood cancer survivors?

Researchers at BC Cancer and BC Children’s Hospital are conducting two studies examining barriers and facilitators to re-integration back to school and appropriate educational supports that allow childhood and adolescent cancer survivors to reach their full potential. We would love to hear your insights!

Studies:

  • Educational Outcomes in Childhood and Adolescent Survivors of Hematologic Malignancies (CAHM)
    Principal Investigator: Dr. Stuart Peacock,  DPhil, SFU, BC Cancer

  • Healthcare Providers and Educators role in school re-integration for Childhood and Adolescent Neuro-Oncology Survivors (CANO)
    Principal Investigator: Dr. Meera Rayar, MD, BC Children’s Hospital

If you:

  • Are a service provider (e.g., healthcare professional, social worker, psychologist, counselor, child life specialist, etc.);
  • Have experience working with childhood and adolescence cancer survivors;
  • Provide services in British Columbia

    we would love to hear from you.

The study will involve a 30 to 60-minute one-on-one online interview and will take place from March 2025 to June 2025.

STUDY: Standard-Dose Combination Chemotherapy or High-Dose Combination Chemotherapy and Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Relapsed or Refractory Germ Cell Tumors (Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology)

This randomized phase III trial compares standard-dose combination chemotherapy to high-dose combination chemotherapy with stem cell transplant to treat patients with refractory or relapsed germ cell tumours.  

  •  Age Eligibility: 14 years and over
  • NOL Date: Canadian NOL June 1, 2016
  • Cooperative Group: Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, sponsored in Canada by C17 for pediatric centres
