AG Secretary Vilsack and His Too Much Funny Business

by Mustang and Bunks

Vilsack has been covered on my blog for well over ten years. Vilsack first insisted that you and I had to adjust our taste buds. Really I didn’t want to adjust my taste buds. I didn’t think you should have to either. My first grave encounter came in the form of a post circa 2011.

He and l started out on the wrong foot. But it turns out that was just a minor thing. Just what else did he have in mind? A long and difficult corrupt road.

USDA Vilsack: Americans must ‘adjust’ their taste buds

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told members of the National Restaurant Association on Monday that Americans need to “adjust” their tastes so that they like the kind of food the government believes they should eat—and “we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.”

“It’s going to take time for people’s taste to adjust and they will adjust over time, but it will take some time,” he said. “So, we have to make sure that what we do is create the appropriate transition.

(Ah, just part of the great reset)

“At the end of the day, though, we’ve got to deal with this,” said Vilsack. Full story at CNS>

Sadly all the video’s of my pal extolling these virtues and his behavior have been removed by YouTube.

But that was only the beginning of our trials and tribulations with this fine fellow.. See yesterday’s post for his evolution:

Big bucks coming to the right folks and he is the man who did it before and plans on doing it again.

But just who is Vilsack? Our intrepid Mustang picks up the story

Some things … are just weird

by Mustang

On 23 February 2021, the U.S. Senate was in the hands of (ugh) Democrats — which is not very different than a U.S. Senate in the hands of (ugh) Republicans.  In any case, is there any real difference?  Some would argue, “No, there isn’t.”  And among those people, there is plenty of justification for that argument.

Take Little Tommy Vilsack, for example.  There was never a more dyed-in-the-wool socialist serving in government since Franklin Roosevelt.  Yet, the U.S. Senate, whose majority in that august body is exactly two, voted to confirm Tom Vilsack to serve as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture by a vote of 92 to 7.

An overwhelming victory for the man who authorized the distribution of federal welfare benefits application forms, printed in Spanish, to potential illegal aliens living in Mexico.  At best, Vilsack’s confirmation should have netted him no more than 50-48.  In a real world where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.

Vilsack was born in an orphanage.  Now, this wasn’t his fault, but understanding his early years may help us to understand how he drifted left into that netherworld where there is nether any patriotism nor common sense.  So, the baby tagged with a question mark was adopted by Bud and Dolly Vilsack, who named him Thomas James.

Vilsack graduated from the Shady Side Academy.  That’s all I’m going to say about that.

According to my sources (whose initials are KID), Tommy asked Christie to marry him after confirming that she didn’t vote for Richard Nixon — and found out that her father owned a law firm in Mount Pleasant.  After marrying Christie, Tom went to work for her father.  It’s sometimes interesting how things work out, eh?

In any case, Tom made it into the world of politics as Mayor of Mount Pleasant, Iowa senator, governor of Iowa, failed Presidential candidate, and Secretary of Agriculture under both Obama and Biden.  Vilsack is the longest (ever) serving Secretary of Agriculture … in the entire galaxy.

The amazing thing about Vilsack’s election as governor is that he was elected by a small margin.  Jaded political analysts think all those dead people voting capped the election in Vilsack’s favor, but that’s probably just trash talk.

Still, Iowa has only had five democrat governors in the entire 20th century, so … were it not for Vilsack signing an executive order allowing 115,000 convicted felons to vote, he might still be a mayor over near Lake Wobegon.  The question is, how far left is Vilsack?  I answer you decide:  Vilsack was on Hillary Clinton’s shortlist as her vice presidential candidate.  That’s pretty far left.

No one ever accused Tom Vilsack of being a genius; indeed, he isn’t.  So if you want to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil, what do you do?  You agree with your president to shut down all domestic oil production.  So now the curtain begins to rise, and we can understand how the U.S. Senate, with 48 conservative seats, overwhelmingly confirmed Vilsack as U.S.D.A. Secretary.  No, we don’t understand that at all.  His first confirmation vote for that position in 2009 was unanimous consent.  Amazing.

And Tom Vilsack re-introduced us to Shirley Sherrod.  He previously hired her as the Director, Rural Development in Georgia.  Vilsack ended up firing Shirley Sherrod (nothing personal, just business), but he recently rehired her as an advisor on the U.S.D.A.’s new Equity Committee.  That should help propel America forward, but it’s hardly change we can believe in.  In fairness, though, Shirley needed the money.  She’s only worth $5 million.

One month before Obama left office, Vilsack resigned his office and re-entered the world of unemployment.  A short time later, though, he accepted a position as President of the U.S. Dairy Export Council.  No, no conflict of interest there.  Nothing to see.  Move on, please.  Well, I don’t blame him.  The Council paid him $999,421 a year.

That’s almost as good as being an employee of the U.S.D.A. and then suing them for their racialist policies.  Well, good for Tom — but I’ll be thinking about his salary the next time I purchase a jug of milk.

So, Vilsack is back — and an amazing thing about his acceptance of Biden’s nomination is that in 2015 Vilsack notified Obama that he was thinking about resigning because he “didn’t have enough to do.”  Okay, well, the job is far from $999,421 (before taxes), but it’s better than having to go to work in the morning.

I’m looking forward to Tom Vilsack’s biographical memoir: How I escaped going to federal prison.

Bunks Bonus: Maybe Vislack can get some ideas how the Netherlands are dealing with climate change and the farmers.

China makes Huge Purchase of Corn In The U.S.

“In the long run, it should have a pretty big impact on global corn prices,” Li said of the growing demand from China”.

China has made one of its biggest-ever purchases of corn on overseas markets, buying 900,000 metric tons of American corn and showing that growing Chinese demand will play an ever larger role in global grain prices”.

It is hard to figure out this one, and what is going down. Reading the full story, one could think China cannot take care of its own. On our side, this will put much pressure on our own Agriculture. With the subsidies and rising value of corn production, farmers will be happy to grow this crop, that is if our government will let them. Meanwhile we are burning our own food: Ethanol now consumes more corn than for animal feed for the first time, corn prices reach record high Your thoughts?

“The Department of Agriculture will soon be helping gasoline stations install new pumps that can dispense fuel with higher ethanol content”, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack said.

The USDA will soon offer grants and loan guarantees for the installation of costly new “blender pumps” so drivers can purchase fuel with a higher ratio of corn-based ethanol.

Just four companies—Cargill, Archer Daniels Midland, Bunge, and Louis Dreyfus—control up to 90 percent of the global trade in grain. In the United States, three of those firms process 70 percent of the soybeans and 40 percent of the wheat milled into flour. The bulk of corn and soy grown by US farmers ends up feeding animals in vast factories, and here, too, the consolidation is dramatic: Three companies now process more than 70 percent of all beef, and just four firms slaughter and pack upwards of 58 percent of all pork and chicken. From Big Food Makes Big Finance Look Like Amateurs

Then we have Agenda 21? Family Farm comes under attack

By reclassifying all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Vehicles, the federal government will now be able to claim regulatory control over the estimated 800,000 farm workers in America, at the same time, overriding the rights of the states.

Some of the additional paperwork and regulation required:

  • Detailed logs would need to be kept by all drivers – hours worked, miles traveled, etc.
  • Vehicles would have to display DOT numbers
  • Drivers would need to pass a physical as well as a drug test – every two years.

So figure this one:

Corn prices on the Chicago Board of Trade have increased about 70 percent over the past two years though have eased from near record highs in June.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Thursday that China had made the purchase, which comes despite an expected record grain harvest in China this year. China’s corn consumption probably totaled 176 million tons in the crop year that started Oct. 1, 2010, according to the department .

The purchase was necessary to help fill China’s dwindling corn reserves, said Hanver Li, chairman of the market research firm Shanghai JC Intelligence Co. Ltd., on Friday. Before it is News

Gas stations to get grants so we can burn our food

I searched high and low for this one. Fox had reported this earlier, but try and find info on it. 15% Ethanol will destroy present day engines. Food prices are skyrocketing, so we burn our food supply. The world goes hungry, Are we nuts?  It only cost about $120,000 per pump. Thanks Hayward, nice read H/T:

What a way to start the day. I sit down with a nice cup of coffee and this gem pops out from the WSJ….Grants and subsidized loans to install new gas pumps so we can sell gasoline that has even more ethanol (E-85)  which everyone, but the ethanol lobby, believes is bad policy…How was this NOT low hanging budget fruit subject to cutting in the budget battle that went deep into the night?

The Secretary of Agriculture declined to say how much the program would cost because he did not know how many station owners (or oil companies) would take advantage of the program…Fair enough, I get that. But a better question for him from would have been how much has been budgeted for such a program.  THAT he should know.  Wish the reporter had asked that. OR better yet, a budget-cutting ELECTED official…Just sayin’…

“””The Department of Agriculture will soon be helping gasoline stations install new pumps that can dispense fuel with higher ethanol content, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack said.

The USDA will soon offer grants and loan guarantees for the installation of costly new “blender pumps” so drivers can purchase fuel with a higher ratio of corn-based ethanol.

Most gasoline sold in the U.S. is 10% ethanol, but a growing fleet of flexible-fuel vehicles can run on an 85%-ethanol blend, or E85. However, there are fewer pumps available to dispense it, Mr. Vilsack said.

In the U.S., only about 2,350 fueling stations out of more than 110,000 offer E85 pumps, according to the USDA.

Pigford: Nothing but reparations to Blacks, Women, Hispanics who claim to be farmers

Women.. Hispanics.. now your turn! Pigford.. the infamous case of claims of discrimination.

It is finally complete. The lawless Obama is now going to pay more reparations. Women and Hispanics now. There is no other term. We have followed this evil story for months. This is the capper. Next phase has begun. At most three thousand were eligible in Pigford. $1.3 Billion now available. Now this Friday dump. Not even a vote by Congress.

We had the Black Farmers. We are moving on to Women and Hispanic Farmers.

The Obama administration is offering at least $1.3 billion to settle complaints from female and Hispanic farmers who say they faced discrimination from the Agriculture Department. Washington Post

In a Friday afternoon news-dump, US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and a representative of the Obama Justice Department announced a bombshell: the Obama administration has set up their own “streamlined process” for women and Hispanic farmers to collect damages from the federal government for alleged past discrimination.

Like the fraud-filled Pigford claim persons who claim to have “attempted-to” farm will be eligible for awards of up to fifty thousand dollars each. In response to a question from Big Government’s Lee Stranahan the Department of Justice laid out a set of requirements that is eerily similar to the Pigford claims process, such as categories of “farmed” or “attempted-to-farm,” “owned land” or “attempted-to-own land,” standards that will almost certainly result in thousands of fraudulent claims. Big Government

Already, the number of people who have been paid and are still seeking payment will likely exceed the 26,785 black farmers who were considered to even be operating back in 1997, according to USDA. That’s the year the case initially began as Pigford v. Vilsack(then Agriculture Secretary). Glickman and sources predicted that, at most, 3,000 might qualify.
