USDA Announces Pay Off of $800 Million in Farm Loans – Black Farmers Sue for 4 Billion

Vilsack is Secretary of Agriculture. Previously the same position back in Obama’s days when the first reparations with Black farmers was struck. Back to the Forty Acres and a Mule. We have seen this story before with the same characters. Let’s do this one more time. As you will find out, Black Farmers have already received Millions of dollars in reparations under Vilsack during Obama’s adminsitration.

Today, the USDA announced it is paying off farm loans – $800 million worth.

Before we get to the story…..Breaking News

Well what do you know. Guess what happened just this week! What a coincidence.  MSNBC

Black farmers took the Biden administration to court this week over a $4 billion promise that never came to pass. The farmers say that the federal government broke its promise to help farmers of color get out of debt as part of the American Rescue Plan, leaving them in even deeper in debt while dealing with soaring costs.

Now we continue and the back story will make more sense:

Below is today’s announcement from the USDA.

USDA Provides Payments of Nearly $800 M..43113 (003) by Jim Hoft on Scribd

Work has already started to bring some relief to distressed farmers. As of today, over 13,000 borrowers have already benefited from the resources provided under the Inflation Reduction Act as follows:

  • Approximately 11,000 delinquent direct and guaranteed borrowers had their accounts brought current. USDA also paid the next scheduled annual installment for these direct loan borrowers giving them peace of mind in the near term.
  • Approximately 2,100 borrowers who had their farms foreclosed on and still had remaining debt have had this debt resolved in order to cease debt collections and garnishment relieving that burden that has made getting a fresh start more difficult.

Americans deserve to know how this money is being paid and to whom?  Is this a boondoggle that the Biden gang is using to pay off their cronies?  Where is this money going?  How does this address inflation? More at Gateway Pundit

Bunkerville has an idea. One only has to go back to the Obama years for 2.0

It goes something like this:

Pigford: Nothing but reparations to Blacks, Women, Hispanics who claim to be farmers  February 26, 2011

So we have the name Vilsack in the story and add the name Sherrod to make sense of this. Who was Sherrod?

Ms. Sherrod’s July 2009 appointment to her USDA position at ruraldevelopment.org gives off quite a few clues. She worked under Vilsack. She later left and then sued the government for Big Bucks.

2010– yes, 2010 was a very good year.

The Obama administration is offering at least $1.3 billion to settle complaints from female and Hispanic farmers who say they faced discrimination from the Agriculture Department. Washington Post

Senate approves $4.5B payment to Native Americans, black farmers and the Sherrods

Shirley Sherrod who stands to make super big bucks. Anyone remember? Anyone care??

The Senate unanimously approved Friday two multibillion-dollar settlements that will rectify long-standing claims against the federal government for discrimination and mismanagement.

See our earlier post:  Black Farmer Helper Shirley Sherrod is linked to Bill Ayers

An announcement of Ms. Sherrod’s July 2009 appointment to her USDA position at ruraldevelopment.org gives off quite a few clues:

RDLN Graduate and Board Vice Chair Shirley Sherrod was appointed Georgia Director for Rural Development by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on July 25. Only days earlier, she learned that New Communities, a group she founded with her husband and other families (see below) has won a thirteen million dollar settlement  (Out of court settlement with her former boss) in the minority farmers law suit Pigford vs Vilsack.

This must-read story at Illinois Review  reveals that Ms. Sherrod’s husband is a former honcho in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee back in the 1960’s. You can read more about it in Bill Ayers book “Fugitive Days.” Yes, that Bill Ayers. He was involved in SNCC as well.

From the Washington Examiner:

Already, the number of people who have been paid and are still seeking payment will likely exceed the 26,785 black farmers who were considered to even be operating back in 1997, according to USDA. That’s the year the case initially began as Pigford v. (then Agriculture Secretary) Glickman and sources predicted that, at most, 3,000 might qualify.

What does Saint Sherrod have to say for this one? Last I heard there were more claims from Black farmers than could have possibly have existed. But what the hell- we just gave 3.4 billion to Native Americans in Reparations.. lets keep it going. Read more here: Reparations for Native Americans Plus a billion more in bonds.

She made big bucks in the Lawsuit called New Communities -This is the largest award so far in the minority farmers law suit (Pigford vs Vilsack)

New Communities is due to receive approximately $13 million ($8,247,560 for loss of land and $4,241,602 for loss of income; plus $150,000 each to Shirley and Charles for pain and suffering). There may also be an unspecified amount in forgiveness of debt.

We did a ton of stories on this fiasco and Marxist Shirley Sherrod  The Senate unanimously approved Friday two multibillion-dollar settlements that will rectify long-standing claims against the federal government for discrimination and mismanagement.

Native Americans involved in the land trust lawsuit will get access to a $3.4 billion fund. Black farmers who are a part of a class-action lawsuit against the USDA will receive a $1.15 billion settlement.

The House, which has twice endorsed the deals, must still do so one more time, an action that is expected after Thanksgiving. Senate approval, however, has been a huge hurdle for Native Americans, who sued the government over poorly handled individual Indians’ trust accounts, and black farmers. From the Washington Post

Postscript update: Sherrod is back working for Vislack. The game continues.

Other than that, all is well in the swamp. More “Out of court settlements” by Vilsack.

Canadian schools hold book-burning ceremony for ‘reconciliation’

An Ontario school board held a symbolic book burning to advocate reconciliation and support Indigenous peoples. The board now regrets the move.

Radio Canada first reported the “flame purification” ceremony by the Conseil scolaire catholique Providence who burned some 30 books for “educational purposes.” The board, which oversees elementary and secondary schools in southwestern Ontario, said the books’ ashes were then used as fertilizer to plant a tree.

“We bury the ashes of racism, discrimination and stereotypes in the hope that we will grow up in an inclusive country where all can live in prosperity and security,” according to a video about the book burning. More than 4,700 across 30 schools have since been destroyed or are in the process of being recycled, Radio Canada reported.

Lyne Cossette, the board’s spokesperson, told the National Post that they formed a committee with input from “many Aboriginal knowledge keepers and elders.”

They “participated and were consulted at various stages, from the conceptualization to the evaluation of the books, to the tree planting initiative.”

More than 4,700 books were removed from library shelves at 30 schools, and they have since been destroyed or are in the process of being recycled.

Asked about the book burning, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau said it’s not up to non-Indigenous people “to tell Indigenous people how they should feel or act to advance reconciliation.”  “On a personal level, I would never agree to the burning of books,” he said. (A small comfort.)

Ebay barring reselling of six Dr. Seuss books

This is not going to end well. Did we ever think we would come to this? Scary stuff. This is only the beginning and it must be stopped now.

Dr. Seuss’ “canceled” books are becoming rarer by the minute.

EBay is barring users from reselling the six Dr. Seuss books that will no longer be printed due to their “racist” imagery — a move that comes after the books started going for hundreds of dollars on the auction site.

“EBay is currently sweeping our marketplace to remove these items,” an eBay spokeswoman told the Wall Street Journal in an email.

The announcement comes after Dr. Seuss Enterprises, which publishes the author’s books for Penguin Random House, said it would no longer print six titles — “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “If I Ran the Zoo,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” Scrambled Eggs Super!,”

…..

Chizad said he tried to sell a copy of “And to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street” on eBay only to get an “offensive material” message Thursday.

“We had to remove your listing because it didn’t follow our Offensive material policy,” the message said. “Listings that promote or glorify hatred, violence, or discrimination aren’t allowed.”

Chizad’s selling fees were refunded “as a courtesy,” the message said.

Taking down our statutes, our history, our books and our culture. When is the GOP here going to grow a spine? We have seen this play once before.

A 165-page school board document includes analysis of all the books removed from shelves, Radio Canada reported.

Among them are classic titles, such as Tintin in America, which was withdrawn for its “negative portrayal of indigenous peoples and offending Aboriginal representation in the drawings.”

Also removed were books that allegedly contain cultural appropriation, as well as outdated history books, such as two biographies of Jacques Cartier, a French explorer who mapped the St. Lawrence, and another of explorer Étienne Brûlé.

I’m not sure what kind of cultural appropriation they’re talking about, but perhaps readers can enlighten me.

From Why evolution is true

On May 10, 1933, more than 25,000 volumes of “un-German” books were burned in the square in front of the State Opera in Berlin. Many other German cities and towns followed suit. The Nazi book burnings symbolically marked the censorship, intolerance, and terror of the Nazi regime. We know what then came next…

Evanston ILL will funnel tax revenue to reparations fund

The irony of it all. Reparations funds coming from drug taxation by the government. We might ask how this whole thing is legal. After watching endless hours of impeachment hearings why bother. Here we go:

Evanston City Council passed a measure last month that will funnel the city’s tax revenue generated from the sale of recreational marijuana to a local reparations fund. The move has attracted attention from national and regional groups that have long advocated for investment in black communities through reparations.

(Stock Photo) …

The event, which was promoted but not sponsored by the city, was designed as a celebration of Evanston’s reparations initiative and the start of a continuing dialogue. The fund will be capped at $10 million and officials say it will be used to help the city’s black community with economic development, education and housing, among other issues. The fund will be paid for with a 3% sales tax on adult recreational marijuana, which becomes legal in Illinois Jan. 1.

White residents still earn significantly more money, on average, than Evanston’s black residents, said Ald. Robin Rue Simmons (5th Ward), who spearheaded the reparations effort. That fact, along with declining black homeownership and a declining number of black residents in town, pushed Simmons to propose the fund.

Evanston’s reparations measure was passed in an 8-1 vote. No one spoke out against the effort at the meeting where it was passed. A Reparations Subcommittee has been formed to determine the exact ways in which the fund’s proceeds will be used and distributed.

NJ Dems start process that would lead to pay Blacks reparations

“Addressing our systematic challenges must begin with understanding how slavery here in New Jersey effects us all,” says @ASWReyJackson on the creation of a New Jersey Reparations Task Force

Democratic state Sen. Sandra Cunningham says that it’s time “we begin the long and painstaking process to rectify our past,” according to the AP.

And with that, New Jersey matches California in becoming the land of fruit and nuts.

Just how it is determined who is in for some bucks is yet to be determined but I am sure this government committee will find a way. I doubt forty acres and a mule is the amount they have in mind. Here it is from the Garden State:

Some estimates say 30 million people would be in line for a check from Uncle Sam.

The New Jersey legislation takes the hard-left’s “critical race theory,” which claims that all white people are inherently racist and that racism is ingrained in our society — “structural racism” — from liberal college campuses to the statehouse.

“The Task Force will focus on repairing structural racism in New Jersey that can be traced back to slavery in the state and around the country, and recommend targeted policies and investments in Black communities that will address the lasting damage of America’s — and New Jersey’s — original sin,” the Institute said in the release.

Assemblywomen Shavonda Sumter, Verlina Reynolds Jackson and Britnee Timberlake along with the Legislative Black Caucus introduce legislation which would establish the “New Jersey Reparations Task Force”.

Obama to buy back land 2x size of MA to give to Indians

Something for a feel good Friday. Typical redistribution. Another settlement of a lawsuit. Translation: One “threatens” a lawsuit but it is really a wink wink. Then the government reaches the so-called settlement. This is what the EPA has been doing as well. Sierra threatens, then Obama caves. The difference? It was 2010 and the Dems were more than willing go along. Black reparations of our land next . You betcha. Recall these ones?

Pigford: Nothing but reparations to Blacks, Women, Hispanics who claim to be farmers  February 26, 2011

But I digressed!

(UPI) — The U.S. government is gearing up to  spend nearly $2 billion on 10 million acres of land that will in turn be given  back to Native American tribes. (Twice the size of Massachusetts).

Congress agreed to the buyback in 2010 to settle a lawsuit.

“We can improve Indian Country if people will go along with this program and  sell their interests back to their tribes,” Kevin Washburn, the head of the  Bureau of Indian Affairs, said in an interview.

The plan entails buying back reservation land from willing sellers and  distributing that land among 150 tribes across the nation, the McClatchy  Newspapers reported Sunday.

Black farmers ask why some get aid and they wait

It is time to hang up this story, I know. Enough of Sherrod- she had her 20 minutes. But I am sorry. When I read that since the Senate seven times– I repeat seven times, could not come up with the votes needed to fund this Billion dollar action, Our Dear Leader says: administration pledged last week to find $1.5 billion.  So lets disband congress. They are now irrelevant. Forget the details of why the Senate will not approve. But that was yesterday’s story.

Here is the back story in case this is your first time around Bunkerville: Senate fails to approve settlement for Black Farmers

Black farmers involved in a decades-old discrimination case are questioning why the Obama administration has promised to hasten aid for some large-scale farmers in the South while their case is held up in political wrangling.

The administration pledged last week to find $1.5 billion to help farmers hit by natural disasters after it appeared unlikely the Senate would promptly fund the package. So now we just call it a “natural Disaster”!

There have been seven failed attempts by the Senate, including one last week, to fund the settlement.

The US government announced last week that it would settle a class action lawsuit brought against it on behalf of Elouise Cobell, former Treasurer of Montana’s Black Feet Tribe, and the owners of American Indian land trusts throughout the western United States.

Hawaii will get 1.2 million acres when they form their new government. Right, the MSM didn’t cover this proposed ”settlement” Nice we re so flush with cash. Wouldn’t it be cheaper just to give each of them a million or so? See our earlier  post  Read More

On Fox News Channel’s July 11 broadcast of “Geraldo at Large,” an aggressive host Geraldo Rivera took on chairman of the New Black Panthers, Malik Zulu Shabazz over his political gestures.

“It is absolutely pathetic, it is so old-fashioned,” Rivera said. “What are you trying to do? Are you trying to be the big, bad nightmare?”

Shabazz, leader of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) rattled off one of his causes, Oscar Grant, but he leveraged him to make a case for reparations.

The bonds are the second authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that President Barack Obama signed a year ago, which enabled tribes to sell as much as $2 billion of municipal securities, according to an announcement today from the Treasury. The government in September authorized 58 tribes to sell the first $1 billion of the bonds.

The sales will provide tribes from Florida to Oregon with funds for tourism, energy, water and health facilities, according to a list released by the Treasury. The tribes can sell traditional tax-exempt bonds or so-called Build America Bonds, whose taxable interest costs are 35 percent subsidized by the federal government.

Hawaiian and Native Americans on the Road to Victory

Reparations are a comin to Amercia– you bectcha– Indian Affairs just settled with the American Indians— Hawaii next… and then you know who.

Obama administration reaches $3.4 billion settlement with Native American landowners

The suit accuses the government, responsible for leasing the Native American lands for use by mining, lumber, oil and gas industries, of mishandling revenues generated by the extraction of natural resources located in the trusts. Many billions of dollars owed to the American Indian landowners were never paid out. http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/dec2009/land-d14.shtml  —this from the World Socialist Web Site.

Bill Allowing Native Hawaiians to Establish Own Gov’t Poised to Pass Two Congressional Committees

The legislation had been expected to easily win the committees’ approval, but Hawaii’s governor and attorney general voiced objections late Tuesday to some of the changes that sponsors plan to propose. In light of the objections, Republican lawmakers have asked for a delay. Democrats, however, sensing they have the votes to prevail, are determined to proceed.

The legislation, known as the Akaka bill after its lead sponsor, Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii, has a long history. The bill would provide a road map to gradually establish a Native Hawaiian government. http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/58620

Once established, the Native Hawaiian government would negotiate with the state and the federal government over which assets it would own. Currently, the state administers 1.2 million acres of former monarchy land. Some of that land, which is quite valuable, could eventually revert to the new government.

Supporters say the bill is about righting an injustice to Native Hawaiians that occurred when Hawaii’s monarchy was overthrown in 1893. They note that Indian tribes and Alaska Natives have the right to self-governance.
