WH Press Secretary Psaki taking off next week, Biden back in a few days

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is taking the next week off work amid the crisis in Afghanistan.

Joe Biden, who is on vacation, has still not addressed the public about the foreign policy nightmare underway in Kabul.

The question is whether Biden is even able to formulate a response. Is he that incapacitated? Is this the beginning of the end so that Jen is clearing out? What a sad day.

Here is a collage of the worse of it.

Indeed.

Gramps looks confused.

The very best of the swamp.

Jen Psaki refuses to acknowledge that Communism is an issue in Cuba

Is anyone really surprised? Psaki Refuses To Speak Out Against ‘Communism’ In Cuba When Asked About ‘Root Causes’ Of Crisis. After all Harris is supposedly checking out the root causes of why people are fleeing their homelands and flooding our borders. Could it be Marxism isn’t so swell? Hmm… We sure know a lot of Cubans want out. But our door is not going to take “their tired’ and “poor” None of their huddled masses yearning to be free.Yesterday we learn DHS Mallorcus – Cuban refugees not welcome and will be returned

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki refused to speak out against communism in Cuba when pressed on Wednesday about the root causes of the ongoing crisis on the island nation.

“As the administration tries to figure out the ‘root causes’ of migration to the country, don’t we know that the reason people want to leave Cuba is because they don’t like communism?” a reporter asked Psaki. “Do you think people are leaving Cuba because they don’t like communism?”

Comrade Jen

Recall just who Jen Psaki is and her role.

WestExec – Meet the firm that’s running our country & Biden and is fearful of

WestExec has staffed the administration with over 23 of its executives, who have sprawled out across the national security and intelligence apparatus. The Intercept and The American Prospect dug into these profiles, and some of the biggest names in government are among them, including:

  • Tony Blinken, U.S. Secretary of State; Co-founder and managing partner of WestExec
  • Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence; Principal
  • David S. Cohen, Deputy Director at the CIA; Principal
  • Lisa Monaco, Deputy Attorney General; Principal
  • Chris Inglis, National Cyber Director; Principal
  • Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary; Senior Adviser
  • Ely Ratner, Asst. Sec. of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs; Senior Adviser

It is an impressive list, as concerning as it might be that one security cabal could singlehandedly consolidate such influence in one presidential administration. But the list isn’t finished yet.

  • Colin Thomas-Jensen, National Security Director for USAID; Senior Adviser
  • Michael Camilleri, Sr. Adviser to USAID Admin.; Senior Adviser
  • Gabrielle Chefitz, Special Asst. to Under Sec. of Defense for Policy; Senior Associate
  • Julianne Smith, Senior Adviser to Sec. of State; Senior Adviser
  • Barbara Leaf, Senior Director for Middle East, NSC; Senior Adviser
  • Elizabeth Rosenberg, Counselor to Deputy Sec. of Treasury; Senior Advisor
  • Matt Olsen, Asst. Attorney General; Principal

So we really have no need of being surprised.

Mustang gave us a few interesting factoids in a comment yesterday regarding Asylum. Just for the record.

Mexicans can illegally pass over the US/Mexican border and obtain blanket asylum; Cubans will not be allowed to set foot inside the United States. Hmmm. Scratching head. 8 USC § 1158, Asylum: “Any alien who is physically present in the United States or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters) irrespective of such alien’s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.”

One would presume that a US official would consider a US Coast Guard ship as United States property — because 10 USC § 1225 states, “An alien present in the United States who has not been admitted or who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United States waters) shall be deemed for purposes of this chapter, an applicant for admission.”

So, to me anyway, it would appear as if the Biden administration has taken extra-legal steps to deny Cuban’s access to the protections of United States law with respect to refugees and asylees. I have not heard from any “human rights groups” so far. Is it possible that the interests of human rights groups are political party-dependent? Wow … that would be shocking.

But back to the post. Have no fear. Biden et al may not want any potential GOP voters in the form of Cuban refugees, but look out. Manchin will bend and have enough “immigrants” made legal by 2024 to insure the Dems stay in power. The Dems will figure out a way for them to vote.

Bloomberg adds a few more details:

Manchin on Wednesday afternoon signaled support for some aspects of the plan and said he is “fine” with it including language establishing legal permanent residency for some immigrants.

“I’m a 2013 immigration supporter,” Manchin said, referring to a Senate-passed bill that would have made it possible for many undocumented immigrants to gain legal status. “If we had that bill then we would not have the problems we have today.”

The last hope for Republicans is that the Senate parliamentarian will spike the immigration component of the bill on procedural grounds, as happened when lefty Dems wanted to add a national minimum-wage hike to the COVID relief bill. Under reconciliation, a bill has to bear directly on the budget; it can’t include “extraneous” or incidental non-budgetary subject matter. Normally that’s how we’d conceive of immigration reform, primarily a cultural rather than pecuniary dispute over whether to grant illegal immigrants a right to remain in the U.S. The wrinkle, however, is that legalizing millions of people could have enormous fiscal consequences, starting with employers paying them on the books and collecting tax revenue from them. So there is some budgetary salience to amnesty in a bill that otherwise needs to find $3.5 trillion in pay-fors.

The best of the swamp today.

Obama attended Intelligence Daily Briefings only 42 percent of the time UPDATE

UPDATE:  and more over at Breitbart

STATE DEPT. ON OBAMA INTEL BRIEFINGS: ‘HE RECEIVES THOSE WHENEVER HE CAN’

When asked about the GAI revelation on Fox News, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki appeared flustered and unprepared.

“Well, I have no validation of those statistics,” said Psaki. “There are a range of ways that you can get your intelligence briefings on the road, in the White House, and I know that he receives those whenever he can.”

Back to the post:

It was clear that Obama had little interest in the nuts and bolts of governing when his signature piece of legislation, Obamacare had a disastrous rollout. That certainly was a “tell.” One would think he would have inquired at some point how things were going. So the fact that Obama may look at his “Daily Briefing” via IPAD if his golf and fund-raising doesn’t get in the way should not be a surprise either. Since our security is the paramount job of President, that fact that he would not be interested in raising questions regarding the briefings should be alarming to say the least. So here we go.

Ultimately, as ABC News reported, the White House did not directly dispute the GAI’s numbers but instead said Obama prefers to read his PDB on his iPad instead of receiving the all-important live, in-person briefings.

A new Government Accountability Institute (GAI)report reveals that President Barack Obama has attended only 42.1% of his daily intelligence briefings (known officially as the Presidential Daily Brief, or PDB) in the 2,079 days of his presidency through September 29, 2014.

The GAI report also included a breakdown of Obama’s PDB attendance record between terms; he attended 42.4% of his PDBs in his first term and 41.3% in his second.

The GAI’s alarming findings come on the heels of Obama’s 60 Minutes comments on Sunday, wherein the president laid the blame for the Islamic State’s (ISIS) rapid rise squarely at the feet of his Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

“I think our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that I think they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,” said Obama.

“Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bullshitting,” a former senior Pentagon official “who worked closely on the threat posed by Sunni jihadists in Syria and Iraq” told the Daily Beast.

Now, with ISIS controlling over 35,000 square miles of territory in its widening caliphate in Iraq and Syria, and with Obama pointing fingers at his own Director of National Intelligence James Clapper for the rise of ISIS, the question remains whether a 42% attendance record on daily intelligence briefings is good enough for most Americans.

The real reason U.N. Samantha Power is M.I.A.

Of course the real Samantha Power is showing her real persona. Let’s take a look at her past writings to understand why she was a “No Show” at the U.N. meetings regarding Syria. She has nothing but contempt for the U.S. Keep in mind these meetings are on going. She didn’t miss just the only one. First the refresher then we will look at her “Tweet.”

Commentary Magazine: (An excellent piece, well worth the full read on our gal)

In a 2003 article for the New Republic, Power:  “The U.S,” she wrote, “came to be seen less as it sees itself (the cop protecting the world from rogue nations) than as the very runaway state international law needs to contain.”

Power wrote that America’s record in world affairs had been so harmful to the freedoms of people around the world that the United States could remedy the problem only through profound self-criticism and the wholesale adoption of new policies. Acknowledging that President Bush was correct in saying that “some America-bashers” hate the American people’s freedoms, Ms. Power stated that much anti-Americanism derives from the role that U.S. power “has played in denying such freedoms to others” and concluded:

U.S. foreign policy has to be rethought. It needs not tweaking but overhauling….Instituting a doctrine of mea culpa would enhance our credibility by showing that American decision-makers do not endorse the sins of their predecessors. When [then German Chancellor] Willie [sic] Brandt went down on one knee in the Warsaw ghetto, his gesture was gratifying to World War II survivors, but it was also ennobling and cathartic for Germany. Would such an approach be futile for the United States?

Now we get back to the faux Samantha Power. The schizophrenic Power who first says “get there fast” and then we have a couple of clips of poor Fox’s Rosen trying to find out why Power didn’t get there fast.

Ambassador Power’s twitter account tweets that “UN must get there fast” — and I think, why didn’t she get to the UN EMERGENCY MEETING FAST?  We need our Ambassador.

I hope she has a good excuse for her absence — other work or serious personal matter — because this IS her job, not a junior, to represent the USA in critical international matters:

Rosen to Psaki: Where Was Samantha Power During the Emergency UN Security Council Meeting on Syria? Snarky Psaki, the face of our State Dept. Am I the only one that notices the change in tone with this administration? They use to hide their contempt for us.

More snarky from this mouthpiece. She has “secure” communication via twitter with the U.N. and her staff. Get out the old laugh meter.
