Golf’s PGA Bleeding Players to the LIV Saudi’s Tour

Is it the beginning of the end of the PGA with the Saudi’s gobbling up many of the players for this week’s LIV tournament outside of London? For those who follow golf, and I do, It has been a soap opera with Michelson pushing the exit button from the PGA for the paltry sum of 200 Million buckeroos. Now Dustin Johnson joins the Saudi’s as well.

With COVID limitations, I picked up the weekend trail of golf as a enjoyable diversion if only for background noise at times. It was amazing to see all the young players now coming to the PGA after just a couple of years fresh out of college. With all of the new great college programs, it seems it no longer takes years in the “minor leagues” such as the Korn Ferry to become competitive.

As far as the Saudi’s? Well, it’s the Saudi’s and money talks. They are not concerned with paid advertisements apparently. We can follow the tournament this weekend on YouTube.

It seems the players can set aside other concerns about the Saudi’s.

As far as the PGA? Sanctions are up for discussion and legal action is in the wind.

By the way, LIV stands for the Roman numeral 54.

Phil Mickelson COMMITS to playing in LIV Golf Tour [Instant Reaction] | CBS Sports HQ

Here we go for the story:

Phil Mickelson had around 200 million reasons to sign up for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour.

The Post’s Mark Cannizzaro first reported that Mickelson signed with LIV. Golf Channel’s Brentley Romine cites a source as saying Mickelson reached a deal on Saturday worth in the neighborhood of $200 million.

It has been previously reported that Dustin Johnson was paid “around” $125 million to compete in the upstart golf series that is seeking to disrupt the PGA Tour by paying golfers more money — and more guaranteed.

The news that Mickelson is joining LIV follows several months of controversy.

The 51-year-old golfer ripped the PGA Tour’s “obnoxious greed” for the amount of money the sport governing body siphons off, and does not distribute to golfers.

Mickelson reportedly lost $40 million gambling in a four-year stretch between 2010 and 2014.

The first LIV golf tournament is coming up this week outside London. Competitors aside from Mickelson and Johnson include Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Kevin Na, Lee Westwood, Louis Oosthuizen, Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel, Graeme McDowell and Talor Gooch.

Our man Johnson?

All things change I guess. The PGA supports up and coming golfers. Are the Saudi’s interested in doing the same?  How this will all play out remains to be seen.

The bottom line: Does golf have enough good golfers to maintain interest with having several competing tours?

The PGA is set to play the Canadian Open in Saint George starting Thursday. The lineup of players looks pretty much like a dud and if it is anything like last weekend with more duffers than skilled players, I just might find my way to YouTube.

Olympic ski jumpers lambaste officials after 5 women skiers get disqualified over outfits

As if the olympics could not descend further into chaos and controversy, we have this story. Women ski jumping has had a hard slog to get into the olympics. Women competing in ski jumping is a relatively new event at the Winter Games. It was only added to the Olympics in 2014, and the mixed team ski jumping event is part of the Games for the first time ever this year. But it is not just this sport that is in question. In the video below a full review of the questionable activities in other sports is included that NBC and other news agencies are not reporting for their own concern with China.

If we have thoughts about the fairness of the whole thing, WND has a good review of what life is like for the athletes and raises the question:

Is China using COVID quarantines to rig the Winter Olympics? Athletes blow the lid, and it’s chilling

Olympic athletes are exposing the disturbing measures China is taking in an attempt to hold a “COVID-free” Olympics.

According to the UK Daily Mail, dozens of athletes said they had experienced inhumane conditions while in isolation due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Russian biathlete Valeria Vasnetsova said she was served an extremely small and unappealing meal three times a day for five days while she was in isolation. By the end, she said her “bones [were] sticking out,” the Daily Mail reported.

Polish speed skater Natalia Maliszewska had a similarly terrible experience. She said she was repeatedly moved into and out of isolation due to conflicting results from the unreliable COVID-19 tests being used in China.

As for the skiers it turns out that even though the ski outfits had been worn before, it was this latest time that it was decided to disqualify the competitors.

Fox News:

Slovenia’s win in the Olympic debut of the mixed team ski jumping event on Monday was overshadowed by a number of disqualifications over suit violations that led several outraged athletes and coaches to slam the sport’s governing body.

Five female ski jumpers, from Germany, Austria, Norway, and Japan, were all disqualified from the competition after officials said their ski suits did not comply with the International Ski Federation’s (FIS) rules.

According to Yahoo Sports, the suits were deemed too loose which seemingly gives the skiers an advantage on their jumps.

German head of Nordic events Horst Huttel, whose team was the favorite heading into the event, said, via Reuters, that the situation was “outrageous.”

Germany’s silver medalist Katharina Althaus was one of the disqualified skiers. She slammed the FIS for what she said “destroyed” the sport.

“I have no words for the decisions that were made today,” she wrote in a post on Instagram. “Our sport has been damaged by it … Athletes and their dreams were destroyed. I’m sorry but I have NEVER in 11 years!!! [been] disqualified.”

“I’m so disappointed and angry. We really did everything to be here and did all our best … I’m devastated and can’t comprehend it,” she continued.

The olympics are covered in the first portion of the video.

US Soccer teams face huge fines who do not shortlist non-white job applicants

Major League Soccer (MLS) teams have been handed a new diversity hiring policy which requires two or more non-white candidates to be in the ‘finalist pool’ – with potential fines topping $100,000 for clubs failing to comply.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber claimed the move is a continuation of efforts to “diversify the MLS ecosystem at every level”.

Ecosystem? No doubt this will soon expand into other sports as well. Golf should be ripe for the next sport. Will they get a “handicap?” Literally recall golfer Casey Martin?

The Supreme Court ruled decisively that Casey Martin, the disabled golfer who has been battling the PGA Tour over its walking rule for the last four years, has the legal right to ride in a golf cart during tournament play. The 7-to-2 decision rejected the Tour’s argument. (May 30, 2001)

Then we have this-

English Touring Opera sacks half its members citing ‘increased diversity’

The English Touring Opera (ETO) has cited “diversity” to justify not renewing the contracts of 13 musicians, nearly half its orchestra. Though employed on rolling freelance contracts, many of the players had been with ETO for 20 years or more.

Oscars new requirements for ‘Best Picture’ – includes cognitive disability, deaf

Not positive it worked out so swell for the Alec Baldwin and the movie folks making the film “Rust.”  Twenty-four year old Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was the armorer on the Santa Fe set of the movie.

But I digress:

MLS Diversity Hiring Policy for MLS Sporting Positions

Prior to hiring any position listed in Table 1 below, the Team Operator must do the following as promptly as possible:

  1. Notify the League Office of the open position through the League’s Diversity Policy Portal (DPP).
  2. Ensure the finalist pool includes two (2) or more candidates from underrepresented groups, whereby at least one (1) candidate must be either Black or African American.
  3. Provide the League Office with information related to all candidates in the finalist pool through the DPP.
  4. Demonstrate an equal interview process with comparable interview experience for all candidates in the finalist pool through the DPP.

.Soccer Stadium

The new rules, which the MLS board announced are aimed at a ‘more robust consideration of non-white candidates for open positions’, apply to sporting roles at clubs in the most high-profile soccer competition in the US.

They order that one of the candidates must be Black or African American ‘as part of a renewed effort to prioritize opportunities for Black candidates’. The policy previously only required one ‘diverse candidate’ to be interviewed for an open position.

As part of ongoing efforts to establish and develop a deep pipeline for sporting staff from underrepresented groups, the updated policy will apply to MLS clubs, MLS’ youth academies – MLS NEXT – and soon to the entire MLS ecosystem, which includes MLS NEXT Pro.

Specific updates to the MLS diversity hiring policy include:

  • The addition of a definition of “underrepresented groups” to specify that this term includes Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino(a), American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders, Canadian Indigenous, Canadian First Nations, Women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • A new requirement to demonstrate an equal interview process and comparable interview experience for all candidates in the finalist pool for an open sporting position.
  • Clarification of public sanctions for teams that fail to abide by the policy, including up to $50,000 fines for first offenses, up to $100,000 fines for second offenses, and fines of more than $100,000 (pursuant to the Commissioner’s discretion) for third offenses and beyond. Previously, the Commissioner had sole discretion to impose sanctions as he saw fit.
  • A new commitment to review the policy annually and update it as needed.
  • The addition of a specific list of first-team sporting positions and academy sporting positions to which this policy applies.
  • The creation of a Diversity Policy Portal (DPP) in which clubs must submit all details of vacant sporting positions and include information related to all candidates in the final candidate pool.
  • The addition of specific guidelines for a process to request waivers to the policy, which will be granted only in extenuating circumstances.

Transgender Athlete Will Compete In Olympics After Dominating Female Weightlifting Competitions

We get a “twofer” with this “Olympian.” The oldest competitor – 43, and a tranny. Add to that he competed as a man in weightlifting prior to his “transitioning.” We knew this was coming. Back in 2015 the Olympic committee approved transgendered competitors. I have yet to figure out how the women’s movement can support this nonsense. Worldwide, out of close to seven billion souls, only a handful of men claim to be transgendered. Out of that, we are going to allow them to turn women’s sports upside down. Then to add to the fun of the Olympics: Transgender Olympian Wants To Burn US Flag On The Podium.

You know the drill, no need to repeat how this effects girls and women in sports:

Laurel Hubbard, a male-to-female transgender weightlifter, is set to make history as the first openly transgender person to participate in the Olympics.

Hubbard, 43, was selected to join New Zealand’s weightlifting team at the Olympics in Tokyo this summer. Hubbard is the oldest weightlifter to be competing in the games.

“Look, I’ve heard that and I think it’s incredibly disrespectful to the other competitors,” Hubbard said in 2017. “I don’t believe there is any fundamental difference between me and the other athletes, and to suggest there is is slightly demeaning to them.”

Hubbard competed in men’s weightlifting competitions before undergoing transgender surgery in 2013. In 2015, the International Olympic Committee announced it would allow a transgender female to participate in women’s competitions as long as the athlete’s testosterone measured below 10 nanomoles per liter for at least a year prior to competing.

….

Hubbard dominated female weightlifting after transitioning. Hubbard set four national weightlifting records for New Zealand at the 2017 Australian International & Australian Open in Melbourne. Hubbard also unseated Lambrechs as the top female competitor in their weight class.

From an earlier B-ville post:

Men can compete as women in upcoming Olympics

There’s great news for adventurous male Olympic hopefuls: if they declare themselves women and reduce their testosterone below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to competition, they can compete against ladies.

There’s even better news for these men; according to transgender guidelines approved by the International Olympic Committee, genitalia does not serve as a prerequisite. The guidelines state: “To require surgical anatomical changes as a pre-condition to participation is not necessary to preserve fair competition and may be inconsistent with developing legislation and notions of human rights.”

The IOC ignores evidence that the fairness of male to female transition still leaves men larger in general than the women they compete against. As Robert S. Beil, M.D., of Montefiore Medical Group, acknowledged, “MTF trans people tend to be bigger, and may have certain strengths from before they started using estrogen.” As noted in a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine

Bonus time.

“My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium. This is what they focus on during a pandemic. Hurting trans children,” BMX rider Chelsea Wolfe Wrote on Facebook in March, Fox reported. The athlete said that the comment doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about the U.S. and those who misunderstand the remark are “sorely mistaken.”

The 28-year-old Florida native started BMX racing at the age of 6 and began competing in 2014, according to Wolfe’s bio page.

“Qualifying to represent the US national team for the sport that I love is something I consider to be one of my life’s greatest achievements. Through so many obstacles in my way on top of the standard challenges that every athlete will face when working for this dream I persevered and the difficulty of this task is why I’m so proud to accomplish it.”

New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard on Monday became the first openly transgender athlete to be selected to compete in the Olympics this summer.

NFL player Leaf, spends three years in prison, now hired by ESPN

The story line goes like this…. football player draft failure in the NFL, turns to drugs, goes to prison, now hired by ESPN. We should celebrate right?  After all, it appears he turns his life around and that is a good thing.

Just one more thing. Where are our heroes that young boys can look up to? Where are our roll models? Men who have unbelievable good fortune at the very least get a shot at the big leagues and a great pay check allow their lives to unwind. But of course, everyone gets a pass at drug addiction these days. Of course, its those nasty drug companies, no personal responsibility required.

Before the story, think about it. Earlier post of mine:

NFL Football Crime Stats – Average Arrest is every five days

NFL Arrest provides an interactive visualized database of National Football League player Arrests & Charges. Learn about your rival team’s history with the law, break down arrests by Player, Position, Crime and Team. Link here Arrests

While the caveat is claimed on the website that the crime rate is lower than the National average, keep in mind, almost all are millionaires and beyond. And the crimes? Well you can look. It is a golden time right now, 58 days since the last arrest. Guess this is off season. Getting close to the record.

Let me get off my soapbox and give you the story…am I being too harsh?

Ryan Leaf

The 1998 NFL Draft is remembered for the Indianapolis Colts selecting future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning with the No. 1 pick. It was also remembered for being the draft where the San Diego Chargers took one of the biggest busts in NFL history with the No. 2 pick, Ryan Leaf.

Leaf’s rise at Washington State and meteoric fall in the NFL — and beyond — has been well-chronicled, including by Leaf himself in a 2017 article in The Players’ Tribune. But his story took a positive turn Sunday when ESPN hired Leaf to be a college football game analyst. Leaf will be paired with play-by-play announcer Clay Matvick, calling games mostly on ESPN2 and ESPNU, the Associated Press reported.

Leaf, of course, only played four uneventful seasons in the NFL — three with the Chargers and one with the Cowboys — before retiring. In a riveting account called “Letter to My Younger Self” that Leaf penned for The Tribune in 2017, he detailed his struggles in the NFL.

Ed: Let me cut to the quick. Addicted to drugs, then the downfall, now redemption.

Leaf was arrested in 2012 and spent 32 months in jail for burglary, possession of a dangerous drug and theft. Leaf, now 43, had no choice at that point but to get clean and sober. He left jail a changed man and worked on getting his life together. (Just one arrest and 32 months?) Just asking.

Any boy now can compete in Connecticut girls sports so transgendered don’t feel invalidated

Boys are competing in girls’ track and field events in Connecticut, at the direction of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, so that transgender students don’t feel invalidated.

So starts the story. I have been paying attention the past months to some degree as this has unwound, believing at any moment rational heads would prevail, the women’s movement would express outrage and all would be right again. But check this sentence again. Any boy now regardless can compete so that “transgender students don’t feel invalidated.”

Just how did it come to pass that a handful of so-called transgendered students came to devastate women’s sports and why?

We already know the Olympics have embraced the transgendered:

Olympics Will Allow Transgender Competitors for 2018 Winter Games

But back to the plight of the Connecticut girls:

They are often winning, (boys) and the girls are afraid to publicly object for fear of “retaliation,” according to Selina Soule, one of the female competitors.

That’s why Soule and two of her unnamed female peers are asking the U.S. Department of Education to investigate CIAC for Title IX violations.

They contend CIAC’s new policy allows “boys who are male in every biological and physiological respect—including unaltered male hormone levels and musculature—to compete in girls’ athletic competitions if they claim a female gender identity,” according to the Title IX complaint filed on their behalf by the Alliance Defending Freedom.

Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood swept the competition at the State Championships for girls track and field, but their wins are not sitting well with everyone.

Yearwood and Miller have also “taken more than 40 opportunities to participate in higher level competitions from female track athletes in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons alone.”

Soule shared her frustration with The Daily Signal in May. Two biologically male competitors took the spots ahead of her in the 55-meter dash, preventing her from competing in the New England regionals in front of college coaches.

“Everyone is afraid of retaliation from the media, from the kids around their school, from other athletes, coaches, schools, administrators,” said Soule, who alleges official retaliation against her for speaking out in the complaint.

“They don’t want to drag attention [sic] to themselves, and they don’t want to be seen as a target for potential bullying and threats,” she said. Read more

Male athlete who competes as a woman tells how hard it is

This would be a good story to pass by, especially on a Saturday. If not for what the House of Representatives passed recently. Just in case you still think there are some sensible Democrats running the House.

This from Mr. Nadler:

“Many states have sexual orientation and gender identity nondiscrimination laws, and all of them still have women’s sports. Arguments about transgender athletes participating in sports in accordance with their gender identity having competitive advantages have not been borne out,” Nadler said in his opening statement.

234 House Democrats- all but one, and Two Republicans think this is a swell idea.

Now back to CeCe Teifer and the hard times he/she is having.

He competed on the men’s team as recently as January 2018.

It is bad enough the Progressives have done all they can to destroy the fabric of our society, Pitting one against another. No matter how big or small the disagreement. But now they come for our children. Encouraging this tranny business as if it is normal. It needs to stop. Now.

If you want more of this, just vote for the Democrats in 2020.

Not enough weirdness? Expect more.

Obama forces male and female school kids to shower together

A school district near Chicago, Palatine 211, provides numerous accommodations for transgender students. The district calls the students by requested names, honors selected gender (including allowing them to play on the sports teams of the gender they identify as belonging to), and permits them to use single-sex bathrooms, since stalls ensure privacy.

But the federal government has decided that the district is still guilty of violating Title IX, the law prohibiting sex-based discrimination, over certain locker room restrictions.

According to the Associated Press, “District 211 has 30 days to change the policy, or risk losing millions in federal funding.”

As Cates, the superintendent, puts it bluntly in his statement: “The students in our schools are teenagers, not adults, and one’s gender is not the same as one’s anatomy. Boys and girls are in separate locker rooms—where there are open changing areas and open shower facilities—for a reason.”

Ilhan Omar wants Keith Ellison to Investigate USA POWERLIFTING Ban on Biological Males from Women’s Events

It’s curious as to what motivated our gal Rep Ilhan Omar to wade into this nightmare. She wants her Muslim guy pal Ellison to go after USA Powerlifting for barring males from competing in women’s events.

In her letter to Ellison in support of this investigation, third paragraph down, the operative sentence.

… “follow the example of the International Olympic Committee.”

This caught my eye from a post a couple of years ago:

Let’s just set aside the dressing and showering issues alone.

WASHINGTON — Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar recommended Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison investigate USA Powerlifting for barring biological males from women’s events, according to a Jan. 31 letter she sent USA Powerlifting.

Omar called it a “myth” that men who identify as transgender women have a “direct competitive advantage” and copied Ellison on the letter, “with a recommendation that he investigate this discriminatory behavior.” (RELATED: Biological Male Wins World Championship In Women’s Cycling)

Omar sent her letter on behalf of JayCee Cooper, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, and whom Omar identified as one of her constituents. She signed the letter on Jan. 31, though it only became public on Tuesday after Cooper posted a picture to Instagram, where it caught the attention of OutSports.

Ace speculates as to why our gal is after women’s sports. How about his thought?

Why is Ilhan Omar, of all people, jumping on this issue?

Is this because she’s an extreme intersectionalist leftwinger? Or is it because she harbors the usual Islamic notions of what a woman should be and what a woman shouldn’t be, and doesn’t mind the notion of destroying women’s sports altogether?

Maybe women shouldn’t be doing Manly things like sports. Maybe they should just be servicing their husband and making dinner with their husband’s other wives.

NFL Football Crime Stats – Average Arrest is every five days

Here is my ode to the Super Bowl. Frankly, I have lost most of my interest in football since it has become just one more PC event. Maybe if my Eagles had made it back I could have found the latest gladiator extravaganza interesting.  So find your latest team, favorite player, and find his criminal record. The site says:

NFL Arrest provides an interactive visualized database of National Football League player Arrests & Charges. Learn about your rival team’s history with the law, break down arrests by Player, Position, Crime and Team. Link here Arrests

While the caveat is claimed on the website that the crime rate is lower than the National average, keep in mind, almost all are millionaires and beyond. And the crimes? Well you can look. Here is the latest: 5 days ago.

The Detroit Lions Trevor Bates was arrested for assault after allegedly refusing to pay a $32 cab fare in New York, and then punched an officer in the face.

Maybe these facts represent why the NFL players find rules hard to follow and a chip on their shoulder for being arrested by the police.

The National Football League is in a golden age right now: It’s been 5 days since one of its players has been arrested. Update: Here is the handy-dandy arrest chart  NFL Arrests

The average time between arrests is just seven days, while the record without an arrest is slightly more than two months, at 65 days, according to Arrests

Players get arrested for a variety of crimes: drunk driving, drug offenses, domestic violence, assault and battery, gun violations, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, theft, burglary, rape and even murder.

The NFL virtually embraces players who abuse women. Take this report in the Chicago Tribune: “In the first round [of the 2017 draft], the Oakland Raiders drafted Gareon Conley, who has been accused of rape. In the second round, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Joe Mixon, who in a much-viewed video punches a woman so hard that she falls down unconscious. In the sixth round, the Cleveland Browns selected Caleb Brantley, who was accused of doing pretty much what Mixon did.”

The most arrests: Adam Jones, with 10. Jones has played for both Tennessee and Cincinnati, and he’s been accused of poking a hotel worker in the eye, punching a woman, spitting in a woman’s face at a nightclub, and was “charged with felony coercion in connection to strip club shooting that paralyzed a man” (take a look at all his arrests here).

The top positions of those arrested:

  • Wide receiver – 140
  • Linebacker – 119
  • Cornerback – 116
  • Running back – 99
  • Defensive tackle – 80
