While the rest of the world is obsessed with toxic positivity and “living your best life,” this Leipzig-based creative brand has built an unique footprint by leaning into the opposite: it’s OK to be procrastinate, to not have a big dream, to be lazy and have no plan at all.
With the curative slogan “Happiness is curable” (Glück ist heilbar), their product line features demotivating desk calendars, ironic postcards, arts, scented candle and various accessories, that celebrate the mundane and the mediocre. Of course, these are just a humorous, harmless way to lift the weight of having to try your best all the time. Which is exhausting.

With such unique core ideas, success was inevitable. Over the years, Schlechte Karten has sold thousands of “bad vibes” products and established their special footprints. Naturally, this leads to strong bonds with major bookshops and concept stores across Europe, nuturing long lasting business relationship & increase in bulk orders.
Schlechte Karten now faces a scaling problem: their Shopify Basic store need enhancement to handle the complexities of wholesale. They need a comprehensive system to handle their increasing B2B needs, from the most fundamental features like tiered pricing and tax displays to complex, custom requirements.

To protect their brand integrity, Schlechte Karten needed to maintain a clear division between retail customers and wholesale partners. The Wholesale Registration Form module from BSS B2B Solution provided the perfect solution.

Since the brand serves two distinct audiences, the store must dynamically display different pricing structures based on the user’s account type. By implementing the Custom Pricing module, Schlechte Karten created a ‘smart’ storefront that instantly adapts to the user’s identity.
When a verified retailer logs in, the website automatically switches to a streamlined Wholesale Mode. This enables the brand to assign specific, tiered price lists to different customer groups, ensuring that high-volume partners receive the rates they expect.

Tax Display on Product/Collection/Checkout
Hand-in-hand with Custom Pricing, the Tax Display module solved the brand’s secondary challenge: tax transparency.
Historically, the standard Shopify checkout was a source of friction for business buyers who require Net prices to understand their true costs. Because standard Shopify settings often struggle to toggle tax displays between B2C and B2B segments on a single storefront, the team previously spent hours answering administrative queries about VAT.
With the BSS B2B Solution Tax Display module, this process is now entirely automated. While retail customers continue to see Gross prices (inclusive of tax), business buyers are presented with clear Net prices the moment they are authenticated.

Registration form & Custom pricing is a clever and efficient way to separate B2B and B2C customers, but there’s more work to do. Some B2B-only URLs, product cards, collections… still at risk appearing for B2C buyers without proper implementation.
Schlechte Karten needed a way to decide who sees what, without having to maintain duplicate catalogs. Wholesale buyers should access gated products and collections only after approval, while direct consumers continue browsing as usual.

A few simple steps allows Schlechte Karten to easily config their wholesale storefront based on customer tags; restricting pages, product cards, and collection cards to approved wholesale accounts.
