My Pilates Journey

My journey into Pilates began unexpectedly in 2000 after noticing a sign for a Pilates studio while driving through Sydney. At the time I knew very little about Pilates  but something about its approach to movement immediately resonated with me.

Having always enjoyed being active I also understood the frustration of recurring injuries and the impact they can have on confidence, strength and overall wellbeing. Pilates offered a different perspective centred around thoughtful movement, control, strength and longevity.

Shortly after discovering Pilates, I booked my first session with a local studio and was surprised to find the instructor was my former physiotherapist who had treated me years earlier for recurring knee pain. From that first session I was drawn to the profound difference intelligent movement could make to how the body feels and functions.

In 2002 I began working within a rehabilitation-focused Physiotherapy and Pilates clinic specialising in Pilates-based rehabilitative exercise. During this time I worked closely with a wide range of clients including athletes recovering from injury, pre/postnatal clients and those managing spinal, pelvic and persistent pain conditions.

Many clients were referred by physiotherapists, specialists and allied health practitioners seeking a more individualised and supportive approach to movement and rehabilitation. These years shaped the foundation of my approach and reinforced the importance of precision, consistency and understanding that no two bodies are the same.

Since then extensive continuing education in Pilates, rehabilitation-informed exercise and movement practice has continued to shape the way I work with clients. Becoming a Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS) Exercise Trainer further expanded my understanding of movement, stability, breathing patterns and the body’s integrated support system, adding another dimension to the way sessions are approached and tailored to the individual.

In 2017 I became the owner of Body In Line in Gerringong continuing the studio’s long-standing commitment to personalised Pilates and intelligent movement education.

Today my work is centred around helping people move well throughout every stage of life. I believe movement should support strength, mobility, confidence, healthy ageing and long-term quality of life-not only now, but well into the future.

My approach combines evidence-informed movement practice with a calm, supportive and highly individualised style of teaching. Whether someone is returning from injury, navigating pregnancy, improving strength and mobility or simply wanting to move and feel better within their body my goal is always the same- to help clients build sustainable movement habits that support long-term health and wellbeing.
