5 REASONS TO GIVE

MENTAL HEALTH & WELL-BEING
Taking care of oneself is more crucial than ever, as moral and emotional well-being is essential to our quality of life. Mental health affects each of us.
Using art therapy and the power of writing, Blue Metropolis provides reading and writing platforms focused on mental health to combat anxiety, depression, homophobia, and bullying. Our initiatives are for all ages and aim to foster resilience and promote emotional well-being.

SUPPORT LGBTQ+ AUTHORS
Each year, the Festival presents literary events that explore subjects particular to LGBTQ+ communities. However, the contributions of LGBTQ+ authors are also sought out for many other aspects of the Festival program, as is the case for other authors from marginalized communities. This more actively inclusive approach is one these authors appreciate, representing a richer participation in the Festival program on the whole, and as a result, a better opportunity for readers to discover their work. Moreover, note that 30% of the invitees Blue Metropolis welcomes to each edition of the Festival are from diverse and/or underrepresented backgrounds.

ECOLOGY AND LITTERATURE
How can we fight climate change and contend with the social and global injustice that the climate crisis entails? During the Festival, you’ll have a chance to meet writers, thinkers, and researchers who have come together to address these issues. Listen to our authors’ podcasts. Explore our green initiatives for children.

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Did you know that 100% of the teachers, parents, and librarians surveyed said that the TD-Blue Metropolis Children’s Festival activities directly contributed to the academic success of the children who visited with our authors and cultural mediators?
Support our free year-round children’s programming.

FOR A MORE DIVERSIFIED WORLD
From its beginnings in 1998, Blue Metropolis has made diversity its main purpose and the core of its activities. Cultures, worldviews, languages or literary works: the palette is rich and constantly changing. Supporting Blue Metropolis means contributing to a better understanding of diversity in our societies. It means working to promote diversity through literature and education. It also means supporting the Words to Change Prize, an international award that shines a spotlight on a high-quality literary work that helps bring cultures closer together. There are so many worlds to learn about…
