Science Camps at The Bishop
SUMMER SCIENCE CAMP 2026 JUNE 8-JULY 31
We explore, learn, create, investigate, craft, snack, and play. Our unique camp uses our galleries and exhibitions to help campers explore their world and discover new things. Be sure to sign up early because we sell out quickly.
Important Information:
- Camp runs M-F, except for the week of July 4, from 9 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Drop off is 8:45-9 AM.
- Pick up is 3:30-3:45 PM.
- Camp fees are:
- $300 per week for members (Innovator level and above).
- $350 per week for nonmembers.
- July 4 week is $240 for members and $280 for nonmembers.
- Camper ages range from 7-11, or grades 2-5.
- Camp is held on site at The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature, 201 10th Street West, Bradenton, Florida, 34205.
- You will receive more detailed camp information the week before your camp week begins.
- Please send a non-perishable lunch and snack with your camper.
Payment in full is due upon registration.

Counselors in Training Program

Intended for 13-17-year-olds.
Gain experience working in non-traditional education in a museum setting during our summer camp! We are looking for passionate and focused individuals who are willing to be flexible and explore with campers through hands-on learning. Counselors in Training will support Camp Counselors with camper supervision and with setup and cleanup of camp programming. Must be willing to learn new things and have fun with campers! Counselors in Training can earn volunteer hours for academic programs and letters of recommendation for future jobs.
Daily schedule is from 8:30 AM to 4 PM (including breaks).
Must be available for at least one full week of summer camp and a mandatory training session on Saturday, June 6.
Counselor in Training Responsibilities:
- Assist Camp Instructor with implementing hands-on activities and programming.
- Anticipates and ensures safety for campers and staff.
- Ensure a neat, clean, and organized facility.
- Ability to multitask, be flexible, dependable, and responsible.
- Foster interpersonal relationships through cooperation, helpfulness, and friendliness towards staff, campers, parents, and guests.
- Be a role model towards campers and communicate positively with co-workers.
- Prepare and organize materials for daily camp activities.
- Deal with camper behavioral and physical issues professionally and positively.
Qualifications:
- Age: 13-17 years old.
- Passion for science and/or education.
- Experience working with children is a plus.
- Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Be able to have fun and be goofy!
Application Process:
- Teacher letter of recommendation required.
- 1-page essay written by applicant describing experience and/or interest.
- Complete the application form below — applications will be automatically sent to the Learning Program Manager.
Science Camp FAQ
Q: When and where is camp drop-off and pick-up?
A: Camp runs 9 AM to 3:30 PM. Drop-off is from 8:45-9 AM. Pick-up is from 3:30-3:45 PM. Pick-up and drop-off will take place at the check-in table to the left of the main doors. Please park along the street or in the parking garage across from the entrance of the Museum on 10th Street West.
- During pick-up, please have your photo ID ready.
- Pick-up and drop-off will take place rain or shine.
- Do not drop off your camper without signing them in. Taxi, Uber, and Lyft drop-offs are NOT permitted.
Q: Can I pick up my camper early?
- Please notify camp staff at drop-off if you need to pick up your camper early. Upon arrival, please speak with Visitor Services at the front desk. They will communicate with the Camp Coordinator to bring your camper to you.
- If you are dropping off your camper late, please notify the Camp Coordinator, Alex, as soon as possible via email or using the phone number provided in your Pre-Camp email.
Q: What if my camper is ill?
Q: What should I send with my camper?
- Lunch and snacks that do not need to be refrigerated or microwaved.
- Refillable water bottle.
- Comfortable clothes and shoes that can get dirty. We suggest your camper be dressed in layers due to the hot temperatures outdoors and cold temperatures indoors.
Please label all items with your camper’s name. Campers may bring a cell phone, but it must be put away in their bag or cubby during camp activities. All other electronics and toys should stay at home.
Q: What is the age cutoff for camp?
If a camper is not the correct age on the first day of camp, the registration will be canceled, and refunds will be given in accordance with our cancellation policy.

A: We aim to make Science Camp accessible to as many children as possible.
