Join us for an exclusive museum program designed especially for homeschoolers. Dive into our exhibits and collections for hands-on activities and exciting workshops that bring learning to life.

Our Museum program offers a unique opportunity to explore subjects like history, science, and nature in a fun and engaging environment. With tailored activities and expert guides, your homeschool curriculum will be enriched beyond the classroom.

Morning Homeschool Program

10am-Noon

Junior Explorers Program (K-3rd grade, Ages 5-8) A two-hour program to spark curiosity through hands-on activities and a themed lesson, perfect for young minds.

Afternoon Homeschool Program

1pm-3pm

Junior Explorers Program (K-3rd grade, Ages 5-8) A two-hour program to spark curiosity through hands-on activities and a themed lesson, perfect for young minds.

Discovery Rangers (4th –6th Grade, Ages 9-11) A two-hour themed program designed to dive deeper with interactive exploration and key lesson elements meant to challenge and inspire.

Details:

  • All Programs start promptly at the program time listed on the second Thursday of each month.
  • Pre-registration and payment are required at least 24 hr. in advance. All attendees must be pre-registered. Day of registration cannot be accommodated.
  • Members: $20 per session | All others: $25 per session
  • General admission to the Museum is not included; however, homeschool families have reduced admission: Adults $12 | Children under 17 $6

Cancellation Policy: Refunds are available up to 48 hours before the program’s start. We cannot provide refunds within 48 hours of the program start time. For additional program information or to request a refund or cancellation, please contact 941-746-4131 x145 or education@bishopscience.org.

Did you know that many constellations and deep space objects look like animals we have right on our home planet? Ancient stargazers from long ago used their environment to create stories. Join us for an interstellar expedition with constellation critters and nebulous creatures.





November 13, 2025 – Fantastic Fossils SOLD OUT

Did you know that years ago, Florida was twice as big as it is today, or that there are ancient coral reefs right below your feet? Florida is full of fossils! From the warm seas after the extinction of the dinosaurs to the Ice Age, many interesting species called this area home.  Join us as we explore Florida’s prehistoric past through its fossils!





December 11, 2025 – Wild Weather: Wind & Water SOLD OUT

Join this exciting new science and engineering-based class to learn about weather types, wild weather extremes, and the needs of a home in order to withstand extreme weather. You will be challenged to design and build a model home that will weather the storm.





January 8, 2026 – Mammals H20 SOLD OUT

Did you know there are different groups of marine mammals? Learn about these groups as well as their unique traits in this new class. Explore and discover the various adaptations and different varieties of marine mammals. Of course, we will visit our rehabilitating manatees to learn about their growth, progress, and future plans.





February 12, 2026 – Welcome to the Swamp: Part 1 SOLD OUT

Inspired by our Clyde Butcher exhibition, we will wade into the world of swamps. We will discover what makes swamps special and how they are different from other geographic areas. Learn how the flow of water in the Everglades is critical to many rare and unique species found in this misunderstood ecosystem.  This first session is part of our 2-part series on swamps. Don’t miss it!





March 12, 2026 – Saving the Swamps: Part 2 SOLD OUT

You may never look at swamps the same way again. Join us for the second session of our 2-part segment on swamps. We will look at the need for swamps and their importance. We will also explore how humans have impacted one of Florida’s vital and precious ecosystems. We will share knowledge about highly specialized and adapted species, making the swamps their home. Wade in and join us!





April 9, 2026 – Innovative Invaders

What is an invasive species? Invasive species pose a serious threat to ecosystems, disrupting natural balances and outcompeting native wildlife. Find out how these species arrive, survive, and what impact they have on Florida’s environment.  In this engaging new class, some of Florida’s invasive species might surprise you!





May 14, 2026 – From Sea to Stars: Mysteries of Navigation

Embark on an adventure through the history of navigation, discovery, and map-making. Dive into the methods people have used to travel across land, sea, and sky—from ancient navigation tools to modern space technology.  You’ll learn how explorers of the past found their way and compare them to cutting-edge innovations guiding space travel today. Plus, test your problem-solving skills in an exciting final challenge!
