Learning Walks provide a structured approach to collecting data that informs ongoing teacher support and builds instructional leadership capacity

As Learning Walk data grows, patterns and trends become clear—making professional learning more impactful

Walking alongside teachers and leaders, BetterLesson facilitators help calibrate and model non-evaluative observations

Learning Walks create a clear, repeatable structure for ongoing classroom growth and sustained teacher development

During our in-person Learning Walks, leaders will be introduced to the process of a Learning Walk—a non-evaluative method for gathering data that highlights areas of success and improvement within their school buildings.
Participants identify their target outcomes after exploring all of the focus areas, indicators, and outcomes. Learning Walks were designed to be repeated 2-3 times; each experience goes a little deeper, connecting data dives to planning teacher support.
Together, we build understanding around an outcome and specific classroom look-fors directly aligned to the target initiative
BetterLesson coaches guide leaders through Learning Walks, gathering data on identified look-fors and facilitating hallway huddles to calibrate school teams
Coaches guide analysis of data gathered to find areas of strength and growth, then help identify next steps for ongoing educator support

A supportive school leader can have greater impact on teacher retention than salary. But, on average, principals spend only 12.6% of their time on instruction-related activities.
BetterLesson Learning Walks provide structure for school leaders. Our guided process fits into a busy leader’s day, ensuring their ongoing commitment to teacher support while building a positive school culture around ongoing feedback.

With so many school leaders stepping into new roles each year, Learning Walks provides districts with a clear, replicable structure for building instructional leadership.
BetterLesson’s expert facilitators model high-impact classroom observations, guiding leaders on site. We work together to gather personalized data that’s aligned to your targeted PD outcomes—then use it to provide ongoing support for educators.
