How does BetterLesson instructional coaching work?

Instructional coaching happens through biweekly 30-minute virtual sessions. Teachers schedule sessions directly with their coaches through the BL Lab.

Here’s how it works:

  • We match each teacher with a coach who fits their content area and needs
  • Each teacher focuses on specific goals—classroom management, pacing, engagement, differentiation, etc.
  • Our Try–Measure–Learn approach supports teachers to try new strategies, measure impact, and learn from results
  • Coaching stays confidential between teacher and coach, building the trust that makes real growth possible

BetterLesson provides scalable, 1:1, job-embedded instructional coaching customized to your needs.

I’m an individual teacher. Can I get coaching or PD directly?

BetterLesson coaching and PD are delivered through district or school partnerships. We don’t currently support individual teachers directly.

➡️ However, our free teaching strategies and lesson plans are always available to individual educators.

Can BetterLesson help with student engagement challenges?

Yes. We offer PD focused on student-centered instruction and classroom management practices for all educator levels.

Districts typically see improved student engagement and school culture when educators receive both group training and individual coaching.

How soon can we get started with BetterLesson PD or coaching?

We can often get started in a matter of weeks. Sessions are tailored around PD days, planning periods, or after-school hours. Coaching sessions are flexibly scheduled by teachers and their coaches.
