For LGBTQ+ Days there was a drone show last night. Here are some pictures.
Agua Caliente Casino is one of the sponsors. The casino is next door to City Hall Love equals love, Jackpot!Record player This is the city symbol used on all the signage around town The Roost is a gay bar located in the restaurant complex next to the Mary Pickford Theatre and City Hall. They hold all sorts of events from Karaoke to drag bingo and live entertainment. This is what was in the sky the night before the show.
Today is the festival in front of City Hall followed by a sold out concert in the amphitheatre in the park behind it. David Archuleta is the headliner as I mentioned in my last post.
We may check out the fair for a while but we have plans with some neighbors for cocktails this evening. Cheers!

An estimated 200,000 people attended the 4 days of Palm Springs Pride. The weather was great. It was actually a little warm out on the parade route. We gave it up before the end. My old bones can’t take that much standing around.
It was also hard to get good pictures. But I got a few

There was a marching band too but I couldn’t get a good shot.

I am sure they will be out there tonight.Pride bannerCute dog. They looked at me after the shot, darn it. My phone was already locked.
It was a nice day for walking about. But 93° is a little much in full sun. We stayed in the shade as much as possible. Tomorrow morning is the parade. I will post more photos after.
We have pride in November because it is unbearable here in June with temperatures in the triple digits, some as high as 120°. Old people, which is most of our population, would be dropping like flies.

This was Monday. I am posting a little out of order. More on the whole trip to come.

It is a new trend to dress like Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company. I have seen them in other pride events.
This guy was standing in front of me the whole parade. Yikes.
These are all stills I pulled from a long video. I tried to capture some of the flavor of the event. One thing worth noting is that a good 70 to 80 percent of the people in the parade were women. I was surprised. Hey love is love and so is support for our community.

I was playing with meta AI and generated these pictures of me celebrating pride. Some are pretty funny.
OMG! Who said disco was dead?Looks like a love festival from the 60’s.Palm Springs baby!I could make this shirt.Love the hat. So French.I told it to give me muscles and wear a Speedo….. 😂This looks like leather pride. I do not own a harness. Hmmm maybe I need one.
We have just finished Gay Pride week here in the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs has become a true gay mecca with one of the largest celebrations on the West coast. Nearly 200,000 give or take 50,000 depending on your sources. We do it the first weekend in November following our Leather Pride. I know traditionally June is pride month, but here the summer is much too hot and people won’t come out to the desert.
This year it was odd, with the election looming. It is hard to feel pride when you’re worried about the state of our democracy and our freedom in general. Some are contemplating moving away, not just from the desert but out of the country.
We went downtown to check out the Halloween party on Thursday. But Ricky wasn’t up to it so we went home after barely getting parked and walking several blocks to Arenas, the center of everything.
The rest of the parties were pool parties and drink fests which we were going to attend at least one but the crowd scared us away. Maybe next year.
