In general, I like character insight, vivid imagery, and wordplay. Porn is awesome, but I like it best when it does something for the characters. If you want to write porn, don't feel like you have to hold back. I'm extremely sex-positive and kink-friendly. (No scat or mpreg, though. Those are the only things I really can't get into.)

To repeat the signups for emphasis: Optional means optional. I'm trying to give you a couple of guidelines if you want them, but if your mind runs somewhere else entirely? Go for it, man! You write me anything for any of the fandoms I've requested, and I'll think you're a goddamned rock star.

Onto the requests! These are listed in the order of my signup, not in order of preference. I have no preference. Write me ANY of these things, and I will be unspeakably thrilled. As I did last year, here are my initial picks for the Oscar winners. Format nicked with permission from rezendi.

As for the rest, I think Adele will take the Best Original Song for "Skyfall," that's just a given. Also, having seen all of the nominees for Best Animated Short, "Paperman" is going to take it. I love that little film SO MUCH. Animated Feature is a little tougher, but as much as I'd love to see "Wreck-It Ralph" take it, I think it's actually a race between "Brave" and "Paranorman," and "Brave" is gonna come out on top. Score is a toss-up, but I think "Life of Pi" might take it. I'll have opinions on Live Action and Documentary shorts after this weekend, I'm sure. If anyone wants my opinions on the design and technical categories, just ask. As you can clearly see, I'll talk your damn ear off about this stuff.

My folks went to bed around 9:30 last night, and I decided I'd go in my room and curl up on the bed and get some revisions done on my Yuletide. But instead I got in bed and fell right the fuck to sleep, stayed there until nearly 3 am, got up and went to the bathroom and thought "I'll stay up for a bit now and get some work done." LOL, nope. Sleeping again. Got up at 8:30 because I heard the coffeemaker go on. 0_o

So tonight. Tonight I will finish my revisions. And additions, TBH, I kind of posted the thing without the middle just to make the deadline.

But now, there is coffee and french toast. And later there is shopping.

My office is apparently planning to branch out into the field of cold storage, as I'm pretty sure I could hang a slab of beef over my desk right now and it would be kept within the recommended temperatures for food safety. I can't feel the tip of my nose. I am wearing jeans and a sweater. This shouldn't be.

Been kind of radio silent lately as part of a new attempt at keeping myself positive. As most of the time I have to update LJ is company time, and my company makes me HOMICIDALLY ANGRY on a daily basis, staying positive hasn't always been an option. But I am trying.

Health concerns continue apace. Another follow-up tonight, which will likely result in more antibiotics. Not looking forward to that, but I'm looking forward to being done with whatever this is before Christmas. That's my goal, anyway. Of course, since we don't know exactly WHAT this is, that's kind of difficult, but again, I'm trying to stay positive. If there's one piece of advice I can give to all you ladies out there, it's that you should see your ladyparts doctor at least once a year. No excuses. Don't be like me and get poor and skip it for a few years, because then when something DOES go wrong, there's a whole lot more work involved in sussing it out, and a whole lot scarier list of things it could be. :/

I think The Artist will take Oscars for Costume Design, Film Editing, and Music (Original Score) isn't even a contest. It might make off with Art Direction, but I think Hugo is going to be some pretty stiff competition in that category. Janusz Kaminski might take cinematography for War Horse, though Hugo made a strong showing there, as well. I'm surprised that there are only two nominees in the category Original Song, and neither is that haunting lullaby by Glenn Close and Sinead O'Connor from Albert Nobbs. I was looking forward to hearing that live.

For those concerned, my computer is still fubar, I'm even more furious than before, but that will be for another post at another time.

Candlemark and Gleam, the lovely publisher behind (re)Visions: Alice, is up for some awards over at the Preditors & Editors Readers Choice Poll.

(re)Visions: Alice is eligible for Anthology, and Candlemark & Gleam itself is up for Publisher. In the realm of books I haven't read but I'm sure are awesome, Hickey of the Beast by Isabel Kunkle is up for YA, and Natania Barron's Pilgrim of the Sky is up for Sci Fi/Fantasy. Pilgrim of the Sky is also up for Best Book Art, and I can tell you, the cover is really stunning.

ETA 11-22-11: I have no "favorite fandom" out of the three I requested. Good lord, that would be like asking me to pick what I liked best out of dill pickles, Converse hi-tops, and NASA. 0_o There's just no comparison! In general, I like insightful character pieces, twisty psychology, vivid imagery and character interaction. I'm a total slut for good dialogue. I love all ratings! If you're going to go with smut - PWP is great as long as it's in character, porn with plot is better, porn with plot and feelings is best. Kinks are more than welcome (preferably no scat, but everything else is fair game if it fits the character.) Gen fic about relationships is something I love, too, so don't feel like you have to get smutty if you don't want to, even if you're writing a pairing.

I don't like mpreg. That's pretty much it. Excepting that, I'm an anything goes kind of girl. As long as it serves the story, or gives insight into a character, don't worry about being too dark/violent/explicit/kinky/angsty/what have you. Even a degree of crack is fine, as long as it's in character.

Above all, I want you to just have fun! Write something that you want to read, something that you love, and I guarantee I'll love it too. If you want an idea of the kind of stuff I write, here's my Fic Masterlist. It's...uh, it's pretty diverse. :D

Public post for AMAZING news! (Re)Visions: Alice is finally available for pre-order direct from Candlemark & Gleam!

In case I haven't flailed at you about this project sometime in the last eight months or so, (Re)Visions: Alice is an anthology of novellas by four modern authors (including yours truly) inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. You can read blurbs about each one on the Kickstarter page.

I'm very proud of the story I wrote, and the others in the book are just amazing. It's four very unique voices and four very different directions, and even if you don't care for the original Carroll, I guarantee there is something in this book that will interest you.

Well, the rain is long over, but the wind is still pretty serious business outside. Enough that I'm not terribly eager to go walking around in my neighborhood full of 80+ year old trees. I didn't lose power, but I guess the wind could still mess some stuff up for a few hours yet. We'll see.

Bloomberg is giving a live press conference at 12:15 to assess the situation. So I guess we'll find out then what the status of the MTA is, and how the commute on Monday looks.

So now I can share with the class that, against my better judgement, I did pick up a pinch hit for Remix Redux, and it turned out to be the longest piece of fanfiction I have ever written as a solo project.

Listen up, y'all. There are a lot of theatre folks on this list, and friends and family of theatre folk, and nearly all of you should know how much theatre and music mean to me. I don't hide that particular light under a bushel.

With that in mind, I'm about to lay some real awesome on you, and give you the opportunity to change the face of theatre in New York City. Yeah, I'm serious. You, personally, can make this difference.

rm and mithrigil have started a production company, Treble Entendre. They have just launched a Kickstarter.com campaign to raise funding for a workshop production of their original work Dogboy & Justine, "a new musical about life, love and head injuries."

You're hooked already. I can tell. I probably don't even need to mention the dominatrixes.

So here's where you come in. We (the collective we) need to raise at least $6000 by December 21st to get the Kickstarter funding. That's a little more than three months away. If you donate, you won't be charged until the 21st, and only if the 6k goal is reached.

If D&J gets this funding, Treble Entendre has other projects in the works, one or two of which yours truly might just have a hand in. And goddamn I hope I get involved in D&J, fuckin' A this thing is gonna be amazing! *fingers crossed* So you won't just be helping two friends of mine who you may have never met, you will be helping me. And you'll be making musical theatre history in friggin' New York City, people! How cool is that?
