Uganda

The Pearl of Africa

Uganda’s fertile land is a beautiful mix of terraced hillsides, savannah, dense rainforest, numerous lakes, mighty rivers and waterfalls, volcanoes, and glacier-tipped mountains.

Mountain gorillas can be tracked in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National Parks, while chimps can be found in Kibale Forest and Kyambura Gorge. Expect prolific birdlife, with over 1,000 species including the extraordinary shoebill, and a beautiful mix of Central African rainforest and East African savannah species.

Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, and Kidepo Valley National Parks all provide excellent wildlife viewing as well as boat trips, whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Nile and Lake Albert. The Kazinga Channel is the perfect spot for birdwatching or sundowners. Horse ride through farmland and savannah or trek on Mount Elgon and in the Rwenzori Mountains.

All our holidays are tailor-made, but we’ve created this 8-day itinerary to give you a taste and offer some inspiration for your next holiday.

We recommend…

A visit to magical Semliki, one of the most beautiful forests in Africa, with its massive buttress-rooted trees, fluttering butterflies, and flitting birds. The drive is a highlight, following a narrow dirt road that hugs the sheer flanks of the western Great Rift Valley mountains.
