The 100WEEKS programs
100WEEKS has been active since 2015. We started in Rwanda and are now active in 5 countries. In addition to our expansion to different countries, we’ve also broadened our programs. In addition to our regular Cash+ programs, we also work with those in refugee camps, in collaboration with cocoa and coffee farmers, and nature conservation.
The Cash+ program
Need a reminder on how the Cash+ programs works? Don’t worry, we’ve got you. This program is a new way of giving aid. With extensive training, savings groups, and €8 grants over the course of 100 weeks, it’s clear why Cash+ is the most effective approach to eradicating poverty.
Special programs
In addition to solving poverty, the Cash+ program impacts many other spheres. Because if you make an impact on poverty, lots of positive developments are set in motion.
Coffee and cocoa
Coffee and cocoa are some of the largest export products of 100WEEKS partner countries. Unfortunately, extreme poverty plays a major role in these value chains. That’s why the Cash+ program is used to help coffee and cocoa farmers to make a living income.
Example program: A partnership with Sucafina and Ahold to provide small-scale coffee farmers with financial security during the period in which farmers replant their trees.
Nature conservation
ith the undeniable negative impacts of climate change, some of the most vulnerable parts of our ecosystem – wildlife and the environment – are suffering. Unsurprisingly, a major factor in this deterioration is the extreme poverty that prevails in and around nature parks, and a lack of initiative to tackle this problem.
Example program: the poorest residents around national parks in Rwanda joining the 100WEEKS program to combat poaching.
Refugees
Refugees are offered a great deal of short term emergency aid to stay afloat. However, there is a lack of long-term programs that ensure that they’re no longer refugees and stay out of poverty.
Example program: in the Kyangwali refugee camp in Uganda, Congolese refugees participate in the 100WEEKS program to build a sustainable future.
We are active in these countries
Rwanda
100WEEKS was started in Rwanda. Our co-founder Jeroen de Lange lived and worked there. In his time there, he came to know the country and its people and culture very well. Many people think of Rwanda and only have it associated with the horrific genocide of the Tutsis in 1994, but we’re hear to disprove those assumptions. In fact, Rwanda is now one of the safest African countries.
Ghana
Thanks to decades of political stability and strong economic growth, Ghana is one of the most successful African countries. Cocoa is one of the country's most important export commodities. Despite the fact that the global demand for cocoa is constantly growing, poverty still remains as an immense issue in the Ghanaian cocoa sector.
Uganda
Uganda was an obvious destination for the expansion of 100WEEKS. This country is located next to Rwanda, where the program originated. Even with the two having such close proximity, the culture is completely different. With the stark differences between the two, we’re able to evaluate our approach in a new context. Despite Uganda’s economic growth, the need for poverty reduction is still substantial.
Ivory Coast
Ivory Coast is the largest producer of cocoa in the world. However, many villagers are dependent on cocoa cultivation which can be a major factor in poverty. In collaboration with two large chocolate manufacturers, Unilever (Magnum) and the Chocolonely Foundation, 100WEEKS supports these communities.

Kenya
100WEEKS has also been active in Kenya since 2023. Currently we don’t have a team in Kenya. However, we work closely with local partners and projects are supervised from Uganda, which borders Kenya.
Pilot in Jordan
Many studies show that giving unconditional money to refugees who are hosted in the region is the simplest and most effective form of aid. During our pilot program in Jordan, we tried to answer one question: can refugees who receive weekly cash donations also escape poverty structurally within 100 weeks?
