It works! Proven by data.

With the support of our local coaches, we now help more than 8,000 families (about 48,000 people) to build a better life. To measure the effect of the 100WEEKS program we conduct multiple interviews with our participants. That way, we know exactly what happens to your donation. With our data, we know that around 80% of all families in the 100WEEKS program are no longer in poverty. And the best part? They stay out of poverty.

First, basic needs

In the beginning, money is primarily used for basic needs. We ensure that families are eating two meals a day instead of one, children go back to school, debts are paid off. There’s money for medicine, clothes and shoes, as well as any other needs. The stressful lifestyle of always being in survival mode is no longer their reality.

Flourishing self-confidence and creativity

With the stress of survival lessened, 100WEEKS participants are able to regain self-confidence. With this confidence, they’re able to start planning for their futures. Being a part of a group facilitates creativity and self assurance, thus leading to them exchanging ideas, knowledge, and experiences with one another. In conjunction with setting up savings and coaching groups, they no longer feel alone thus leading to great ideas to pull themselves out of poverty.

Investing in the future

After a few months in the program, women start saving and investing. For example: participants buy larger stocks of better quality food to sell at local markets. Other forms of investment include buying livestock and a piece of land, setting up small businesses, building a house to sublease, or buying a sewing machine. After 100 weeks, they are both mentally and physically stronger and have a stable income with which they can secure a sustainable future. The families also have access to (further) education and insurance. By the end of the program, they are completely financially independent.

Providence

Providence was in the first group of ten women to receive money through 100WEEKS. In this video, she talks about the impact of the grants during the first 50 weeks:

  • she now eats two meals a day instead of one
  • her home has been renovated and has consistent electricity
  • there’s even an extra room that she wants to rent out
  • she has her own savings account
  • she believes her children will have a better life
